Hanni's POV

I headed home slowly.

As I was turning onto my street, I realized I didn't remember anything about my trip. I had traveled in a fog, oblivious to everything around me, focused only on my feelings of confusion and pain.

As my cabin came into view, I saw a large truck parked out front and a figure standing on my porch.

What the hell?

As I got closer, I saw that it was Beomgyu.

I got off the bike and leaned it against the fence, picked up Milly and walked towards him, a confused smile on my face.

"Hey, stranger," he said, coming toward me.

I laughed softly.

"I'm sorry, Beomgyu. I'm not trying to be a stranger and I got your messages. I've just been really busy." I caught up with him at the bottom of my stairs.

He ran his hand through his hair.

"I'm not trying to harass you." He smiled an embarrassed smile.

"It's just that, I really enjoyed spending time with you the other night, and the city is holding a police and fire parade in a few weeks. There's always a dinner afterward to honor my father, it's a big event for the community." city... I was really hoping you would come with me."

He smiled. "Of course, I hope you go out with me first, but I wanted to make sure to ask you about dinner ahead of time. It's important to me."

I bit my lip, not knowing what to do.

And then I remembered: his father was the man who had shot Minji.

Honor him?

How could I?

I didn't want to hurt Beomgyu, I liked him.

But I liked Minji more.

Oh God, I really do.

But Minji had kicked me out of her house, while Beomgyu was trying very hard to track me down and spend time with me. Even if it was for an event I didn't feel comfortable attending.

I just wanted to go home and think about other things.

I wanted to be alone.

I smiled. "Beomgyu, can I think about it? I'm sorry... that whole thing is complicated... I just..."

A flash of something that looked like anger or disappointment flashed very briefly on his face before he smiled and said, "How about I call you in a day or two with the details and you can say yes?" He smiled.

I laughed softly and said, "Okay, call me in a couple of days."

He smiled, seeming pleased, and then leaned in to kiss me, and I turned my head slightly so he could kiss me on the cheek. He frowned as he straightened but said nothing.

"We'll talk soon," I said quietly.

He nodded once and then walked around me and headed to his truck. I watched him from where he stood, his broad shoulders and muscular butt filling out his jeans nicely. It really was a match.

Why didn't I feel any spark?

I sighed and walked into my house with Milly.

I went back to my room and lay down on my bed and before I knew it, I had fallen asleep. When I woke up, the room around me was dark.

I looked at the clock.

10:18 AM

I had slept most of the afternoon and evening. Probably because I hadn't slept well in Minji's bed...so aware of her in the room next to her. I groaned at the thought of Minji, wondering what she was doing right now. I hoped I hadn't completely ruined things between us.
