The night sky was alive with twinkling stars, casting a celestial haze over the landscape. As we made our way back to the car, Hongjoong gazed at the sky, a sigh escaping his lips. It's okay, I'll let him live his emotions. It must not be easy waking up after all those years. In that moment, I couldn't help but notice the stars twinkling in his eyes.

I glanced at him and chuckled softly. "For an old vampire, your eyes have an innocence that betrays your age. They look like it's your first life" I teased.

Hongjoong arched an eyebrow in response. "Should my eyes be menacing then?"

I couldn't help but shake my head, a smile tugging at the corners of my lips. "No, I just didn't think that a vampire could look like you"

A smile formed on his lips. "Like me?"

I nodded, my eyes crinkling with amusement. "Yeah, you're not like any vampires I've met"

"Oh, so you've met other vampires?" He inquired, his voice laced with curiosity and a hint of playfulness.

I shook my head, struggling to stifle my laughter. How could someone be so cute? "Not really. But you're definitely not like any vampire I've imagined"

Hongjoong's eyes widened in surprise, clearly enjoying the attention. "Well, just so you know," He said, a mischievous glimmer in his eyes. "I may be an old vampire but I'm only twenty-five in human years"

"What! You're so young!" The revelation caught me off guard, and a laugh escaped my lips. "Then we're the same age" I said, shrugging my shoulders. In the depths of his icy vampire nature, there lies a playful side that I find strangely captivating.

We stepped into the car. "Mind fastening your seatbelt?" I requested, making sure to buckle up myself.

"A seatbelt? I have no use for such trivialities" He scoffed, his voice dripping with disdain.

I let out a sigh as I secured his seatbelt. I'm sure he does this on purpose just so I do it for him.

The ride home was silent but comfortable. While he gazed out of the window, captivated by the moon's gentle glow trailing our car, I couldn't help but steal occasional glances at him, especially when we halted at red lights. I must confess, my initial judgement of him was perhaps too harsh. I hesitate to say he's not terrible, but truth be told, he's actually not that bad.

As soon as we stepped foot inside the grand mansion, we were instantly bombarded with questions. And to make matters worse, the director wasted no time in invading my personal space.

"Dalhae, what is this?" He exclaimed, shoving his phone in my face.

My brows furrowed in confusion as I glanced at the screen. Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed Seonghwa, his face etched with concern, also staring down at his phone.

Gazing at the phone screen, a chilling image of a lifeless body sprawled across the forest floor greets my eyes. It's the news.

"The discovery of an unidentified corpse in the woods has left authorities puzzled" The news reporter announces.

The director approached me, his suspicion evident in his narrowed gaze. "Do you have anything to do with this?" He questioned, his insinuation clear. "Or is our vampire host responsible for it?" He discreetly glanced at Hongjoong, who undoubtedly heard him.

I couldn't help but snort at the audacity of the accusation. Hongjoong responded with a look of sheer disgust towards the director.

"Are you hearing yourself talk?" I shot back. Sure, he may hold the title of director, but let's not forget who's the one bringing in the most money here. He will listen to me.
