Also, trigger warning for death.

---------------------------------------------------------------

Indigo Dynamite's dead body laid down in one of the beds of the first aid center. Four was next to the bed, kneeling over.

He was too late...

Four wasn't sure how long he had been there. Dry tear marks ran down the deputy's face. He held Dynamite's hand, hoping by some miracle he would spring back to life.

Sure, Dynamite may have been a criminal, but that doesn't mean anything to Four right now.

Maybe if he didn't pass out, Dynamite might have still been alive.

Meggy walked in, still holding Eggy, Dynamite's canine companion.

"Smg4, you should go get some rest." Meggy laid a hand on Four's shoulder.

"Sheriff, why can't I stop crying?" Four looked at Meggy with fresh tears. "Why did I save him from One Shot Wren? Why do I feel so empty inside?"

Eggy whined, she jumped out of Meggy's arms and into Four's lap, feeling his pain of losing Dynamite.

Meggy knew what Four was going through all too well. 'Desti,' Meggy thought, 'Make sure you say hi to Dynamite, I think you too would get along.'

Meggy looked back down to Four. "I know how you feel, I remember feeling so hollow and empty after Desti died. But I know she wouldn't want me to be like that for the rest of my life, she'd want me to live my life to the fullest."

"B-but that's different for you two. You guys loved each other..." Four squeezed Dynamite's hand. Seeing the soft smile on his dead body just felt alien to Four.

Meggy didn't know what to say.

"A-are you saying... I loved him?" Four said breathlessly. His body shook, tears ran down his face. "O-oh my god... I- I-" Four choked a sob out.

Meggy pulled Four into a hug, comforting her deputy.

Four finally let go of Dynamite's hand.
