Accidental Infidelity

Ryker has been bugging me with questions after the auction. Nang makauwi kami agad niya akong tinanong kung bakit kasama ko sa iisang table si Diego Valmorida. I told him the truth. Talagang nagtanong lang naman sa akin ang direktor kung pwede bang samahan niya ako and I just agreed. Hindi naman big deal iyon sa akin. Big actors and names do not faze me. Sa linya ng trabaho ko, sanay na kami na makakita ng artista kaya hindi na kagulat-gulat iyon. We have to be professional when it comes to interacting with artists. Sa kanila na lang iyon kung ita-trato ba kami nilang kaibigan o empleyado. But sometimes, I would much prefer it if they're on the neutral side.

May iilan kasing assistants o managers na mataas ang expectations sa tuwing mabait sa kanila ang isang talent. We shouldn't hope too much. Hindi naman kasi lahat ng tao ay kayang tapatan ang mga expectations. They're human, too.

"You're not amazed, at all, El? That was the Diego Valmorida!" Hindi pa rin matigil si Ryker. Kulang na lang ay igiit niya sa akin na dapat akong magtitili dahil nakasama ko ng ilang oras ang isang Diego Valmorida.

"So what if he's the Diego Valmorida? So what if he's the president? Tao pa rin siya."

Ryker stared at me in disbelief. Pinangunutan ko lang siya ng noo at nagpatuloy ako sa aking binabasa. I've been reading articles about them, by them, I meant Ryker and Julia. As usual, maganda ang feedback sa kanila ng madla. Others are already wishing for them to be in another movie together, kahit 'di pa naman ipinapalabas ang ginagawa nilang project ngayon. The people had seen some clips of the movie and was very excited with the plot even if it was already mainstream.

"Did Diego Valmorida asked about me? If he's interested in casting me in his new project, he would, right?"

"Hindi naman kami nag-usap ng tungkol sa trabaho, Ry. But I assume he's interested. Kasi nababanggit niya ang pangalan mo. Although, I don't want to give you any false hope."

"But it's a good thing, right?"

"Yeah, I guess so. But please, give this a rest. Patapusin mo muna itong mga project mo, magpahinga ka, and then you can work on another project."

"Other actors can do both movies at the same time."

"Ryker, hindi ka si Superman," I reprimanded.

Minsan nga ay nagkakasakit siya dahil sa kanilang taping. Kapag pabago-bago ang panahon, mas mabilis magkasakit si Ryker. I always make sure that he eats healthy food so he won't be prone to sickness. Kung malusog siya, mas mabilis niyang matatapos ang project. He won't cause any delay. Gusto kong huwag mapahiya si Ryker sa ibang direktor o kung sinumang artista. He is working hard so I should work hard too as his manager.

"I am meeting my mom today, diba?" pag-iiba niya ng usapan.

"Yes. Available ka naman ng ilang oras bago tayo babyahe."

"Do you want to come with me?" Inangat ko ang tingin para matingnan siya. He was on his phone, his fingers tapping fast.

"No. Uuwi ako sa bahay."

I went home after cleaning Ryker's unit. Kaunting kalat lang naman iyon dahil hindi niya agad nalinis bago siya umalis. I told him I could do it before I go home. Nang makarating ako sa bahay ay katulong lang ang nadatnan ko roon. My parents aren't home because they are in their respective offices.

My father owns a textile company, while my mother works as a fashion designer. You could say that they compliment each other well because of their businesses. Ang kumpanya ng ama ko ay galing pa sa chinese ancestors namin. My Dad's family was quite chaotic since it's a mixture of Filipino and Chinese. Alam naman ng lahat na mas pipiliin ng Chinese ang kalahi kaysa matintahan ng ibang dugo. But as soon as my mother who's a hundred percent Chinese, married my Dad, it feels like the tension in the family vanished.
