Accidental Infidelity

I do not know if everything that's happening lately was purely coincidental, but I've been seeing the face of Diego Valmorida wherever I go. I get that he is popular, and he endorses a lot of brands, but does it have it be everywhere I go? I find it annoying somehow but why would I, huh? Wala namang ginawa ang tao sa akin. In fact, he's been humble and polite. Hostility had no room on his personality.

"They said the Royale Entertainment is making another movie this year," Ryker started as he plopped himself on the couch. Abala ako sa pag-aasikaso sa kaniyang schedule dahil may mga nag-iba. Some appointments were postponed and were moved on a later date.

"And?" I asked.

"Rumor has it that Diego Valmorida will be directing. I want to audition for the role."

Napalingon ako kay Ryker. Mukhang nanghihinayang siya. I don't really get why he wanted to star on any of Diego Valmorida's film. Kaya namang manalo ni Ryker ng award kahit hindi pa si Diego Valmorida ang direktor. Is there some kind of magic in that guy that everyone wanted him?

"You're already working on a project," I stated as a matter of fact. "Isa pa, ayaw mo bang magpahinga muna? The projects can wait, but your health matters here, too."

"Alam ko. Pero matagal pa naman ang plano ng film na iyon. I want to audition kahit minor role."

"They don't give you any minor roles, Ryker. Hindi ka na rookie."

"Still. Maganda ang kalidad ng films ni Diego. He's a good actor, too."

"Audition if you like. Hindi kita pipigilan. If you badly want to get one role, then go. I'll just inform the bosses that you want to." My voice had a slight irritation to it but that's because I was quite irritated. Gusto ko lang namang malaman ni Ryker na nag-aalala rin ako sa kaniya at kailangan niyang magpahinga. I've seen the lined up project prepared for him and all I could do was sort out his schedule so he could do them all.

"Bakit parang labag pa sa loob mo?" natatawa niyang tanong. "Don't you like any of Diego's films?" he accused.

Napatitig lamang ako kay Ryker. I wasn't really interested in any other films except for the films where Ryker starred in it or participated in it.  Even when he just had a minor role, I'd watch the movie even if the storyline sucks. Nang sumikat na si Ryker, nagkaroon na siya ng mga proyekto na mayroong magandang kwento. I'm not disregarding the writers nor the directors, it's just how I see the film as a viewer. May iilan kasi na mapili naman talaga sa mga napapanuod. Even if I didn't like how the film turned out, I love how Ryker improved from scene to scene. Natuturuan naman siya nang maayos. And as someone who has admired Ryker, I feel proud.

"You're missing out on a lot of things, El." Iiling-iling si Ryker. "You shouldn't be too focused on me. Pakiramdam ko inaagaw ko sayo ang buhay mo. You're here with me almost 24/7. Sa akin mo na nabubuhos minsan ang stress mo, to which I don't mind because I know how stubborn I am."

"What are you even trying to say, Ry?"

"Na manuod ka ng mga films ni Diego kapag free time mo. So you'll know why I am so interested to work together with him." Ryker flicked my forehead. "Huwag kasi puro trabaho."

"If you could just lessen your endorsements, I would have had a peaceful life, Baltazar," I responded while massaging my forehead.

Ngumisi si Ryker at ipinatong ang braso sa aking likuran. He leaned into me closely. Naamoy ko na ang pamilyar niyang body wash na ginamit. He turned on the television and switched the channel. I was done with his schedule and saved it. Pumunta ako sa aking facebook at nag-scroll na lang muna.
