Emma’s POV

Mom and Dad had gone down to the river to help search for the last hour. I sat downstairs flicking through the channels of the T.V. I didn’t see the images just the colors. The phone started to ring. I ignored it. After about 7 rings I sighed and picked it up.

“Hello?” I asked. My voice sounded broken.

“Emma?” They asked. It didn’t even occur to me who it was.

“Yeah, who is this?” I asked. The voice laughed a little. I knew that laugh.

“Izzy,” I breathed. “You’re supposed to be dead! Not that I’m not happy, but how did you—oh my God I can’t believe you’re alive!”

“Are Mom and Dad home?” She asked.

“No they’re searching for you and Jace. Izzy are you ok? They didn’t hurt you did they?” I questioned quickly.

“Ok, call them as soon as we hang up ok?” She said. I knew immediately she was ignoring the last part of my question.

“They didn’t hurt you did they?” I demanded again.

“I’m fine, Emma.” She insisted.

“I didn’t ask if you were ok. I asked if they hurt you.” I shouted.

“Techniquely you did ask me if I was ok.” She mumbled. I heard a voice in the background. “No they’re not home.” She said to the voice. “Alright, just two more minutes please?” She begged.

“Did they touch you Izzy?” I asked. I heard her intake a breath. She didn’t say anything.

“Oh my God Izzy,” I whispered. I heard a small gasp. At first I thought it was Izzy.

“Andrew,” She breathed.

“Izzy, I’m sorry I was so mean to you! I’m so sorry I love you a lot. I just tease you I hope you know—“

“Andrew,” She interrupted. “It’s ok, listen, you two; I love you both so much. Tell Mom and Dad I love them too if I don’t get to call back.”

“Izzy, don’t talk like that! You’re coming home.” I insisted. Andrew agreed. Izzy sighed.

“No, I won’t.” Then she hung up. The air hung between Andrew and I like ice.

Izzy’s POV

I hung up the phone before either of them could argue with me. I didn’t want to get their hopes up if my tunnel plan didn’t work. It was a sketchy plan. Everything had to work just right, or it wouldn’t work. Mr. Newman took the phone from me and dialed Jace’s house number. He handed the ringing phone to Jace.

Jace’s POV

After Izzy hung up Mr. Newman took the phone and dialed my phone number. He handed me the phone. After two rings my dad picked up.

“Hello?” He asked.

“Dad, it’s me.” I whispered. I heard him stumble.

“Jace, you’re alive? How—I mean how did you survive that? It doesn’t matter. Are you still with them? Is Elizabeth ok?” He questions.

“I don’t know how we survived. Yes, we’re still with them. Yes, Izzy is ok, too.” I answered. Elizabeth was as close as he’s ever gotten.

Mr. Newman took the phone from my hand. “Ok, Dawson, he’s the new plan.”

I heard my dad interrupt him. “What?” Mr. Newman gasped.

“The FBI, shit.” He mumbled. He quickly shut the phone. He ran into the back room and started yelling at Mark and Jake. The FBI was involved now; we would get out of this.
