Gracies POV (5 Years Old)

"Gracie, can you turn that off now please" Will asked as he walked in to the living room with my school bag in hand "you still need to read a couple more pages of your school book" he reminded,

"I don't wanna do that" I whined "It's boring" I added,

"It's not boring" he replied "c'mon, if you do it now then that's it done for the day" he told me. But I shook my head,

"Nu uh" I said as I nuzzled myself further in to the sofa,

"Gracie" Will sighed,

"Five more minutes" I pleaded,

"No, not five more minutes" he shook his head "because in five minutes we're gonna be in the exact same position" he added "c'mon kiddo" he urged once more.

"I don't wanna do it" I repeated in a more forceful tone "no" I shook my head,

"Gracelyn" Will said firmly "you have to read four more pages in your book before school tomorrow" he explained,

"NO" I screeched,

"Do you wanna get in trouble with your teacher?" He asked,

"Nu uh" I shook my head defiantly,

"Then let's sit down together and get on with it" he encouraged. I though about what he's said for a few seconds before deciding that I definitely did not want to read any of my book.

"No" I said once again. I watched as my brother closed his eyes and took a deep breath before bending down in front of me and lifting my chin so I was forced to look him in the eye.

"I understand you'd rather watch tv right now, but what you're gonna do is read a couple of pages of your book, take a bath, then you can sit down and watch a movie before bedtime" he explained,

"No, just the movie" I stated adamantly,

"No movie if you don't do as I asked" he stated.

"That's not fair!" I exclaimed,

"I think that's more than fair" he contradicted "now are you gonna get reading?" He asked,

"No" I repeated making my brother sigh.

"Right. I'm not discussing this with you anymore Gracelyn" he said firmly as he stood back up to his full height "you need to read some of your book so that's what your gonna do" he said determinedly,

"I DON'T WANNA" I screamed as I hit my fist on to the couch next to me,

"Hey" he scolded "we're not doing this Gracie" he said seriously,

"Stop being horrible" I said tearfully as I lied down on the sofa dramatically,

"Sit up so you can do your homework" he instructed, ignoring my pervious comment,

"NO! NO! NO! NO! NO!" I screamed as I kicked my legs about in all directions,

"Enough" Will snapped making me stop and glare at him through my scrunched eyebrows "do you wanna go for a timeout?" He asked making me shake my head with a noise of displeasure leaving my mouth "then stop your tantrum and do as your told" he suggested.

"I don't wanna" I sobbed as I throw my head back and sobbed loudly.

"Right then" he finally said after watching my tantrum for a few minutes. He picked up my flailing body as carried me towards my bedroom,

"NOOOO!" I screamed "I DON'T WANT A TIME OUT!" I exclaimed at the top of my voice. My brother, however, ignored my screams of protest as he continued to carry me in to my room and put me down on to my bed. I immediately made an attempt at escape but I was quickly stoped when Will lifted me back up and put me back down on the bed.

"You're gonna stay with your butt planted on this bed for five minutes" he said sternly as he pointed at me,

"Noooo" I sobbed as Will turned to leave my room,

"I mean it Gracie" he said adamantly "you're not getting up until this stops" he stated before finally leaving my room.

I sat on my bed for a couple of minutes before deciding that if I just apologised then a t least I'd be allowed out of timeout. I climbed off my bed and walked over to the kitchen,

"I'm sorrrryyyyy" I sobbed making me oldest brother look up at me,

"Back to your room" he instructed making my sobs increase,

"I'm sorryyyy" I repeated with a stomp of my foot. Angry that my apology wasn't being recognised,

"Go back to your room" he repeated again,

"But I said I was sorry" I cried.

"I'm glad that you're sorry" Will said as he once again walked over to me "but when you get put in timeout you don't leave until you're told to" he said firmly,

"I don't wanna time out!" I cried as Will took my hand in his and walked me back in to my room and over to my bed,

"Every time you get off this bed, the timer is reseting itself" he told me seriously,

"That's not fair" I screeched "I want Jay" I stated making Will raise an amused eyebrow at my statement,

"I really don't think you do" he assured "don't move" he warned before leaving once again.

I waited a minute before getting off my bed and walking over to my teddies to play. That was until Will silently walked in to my room and removed them from my hands before lifting me back on to my bed. This routine continued for another thirty minutes With Will staying firm and returning me to my bed every time. I eventually gave up and sat sadly on my bed for my allocated five minutes.

"Right" Will said as he walked back in to my room for the hundredth time "are we gonna stop the screaming now?" He asked making me nod sadly. The tears had slowed down and I was well and truly tired of screaming,

"Cuddle?" I pouted and Will let me climb up in to his lap and snuggle in to his chest,

"I understand that there where more thing you would rather do than read you schoolbook Gracie" he sympathised "but if you'd have done it when I asked then it would be over and done with now" he told me and I nodded sadly,

"Sorry" I said and he leant down to kiss the top of my head,

"I forgive you" he assured "but there are far better ways to deal with a situation than throwing a tantrum" he reminded "let's try and remember that, ok?" He asked,

"Ok" I agreed.

Twenty minutes later, and after having a drink of water, I sat next to Will and read him my schoolbook.

"This bed is much too..." I hesitated as my eyes scanned the new word,

"Lumpy" Will told me and I nodded,

"Lumpy" I finished the sentence. "Goldilocks moved to the trird" I struggled,

"Third" Will assisted,

"Third bed" I continued "ahh, this bed is just right." I finished "that was four pages" I said making my brother smile,

"Good job kiddo" he praised as I closed the book and passed it over to him "your readings really coming along" he added,

"Can I watch a movie now?" I asked hopefully,

"You need a bath first" he told me making me groan slightly "Gracie" Will said in a warning tone that made me crumble in an instant,

"Fine" I caved before slinking off to the bathroom for my bath.
