Chapter 8: The Blame

There's always a first time for everything, just like how I am being kidnapped or wherever they're taking me because all I can see is black. I have been sitting in a moving vehicle for an hour, well, most of the time I was knocked out so I don't know the exact time.

The vehicle suddenly stopped and my eyes finally spotted a glimpse of light. My hands were also tied behind my back so there was no point in running away. I sighed as my years of training went down to drain after being captured by the Remnants.

A rough push made me come back to my senses. My feet landed on the solid unmoving ground. I was finally calming down when that same rough push from my back made me angry again.

"Can you calm down?!" I burst out in anger which made my surroundings silent.

I heard a footstep coming toward me. I still can't see because of the black cloth covering my head. Before I knew it, I can feel that the person was already in front of me. It removed the cloth covering my vision and my eyes immediately closed from the harsh sunlight.

I adjusted my eyes and they focused on the certain person in front of me. It was Chantel smiling so victoriously like she just brought a trophy home, but Chantel wasn't alone anymore, there were a lot of people standing tall behind her.

My eyes went around my surroundings and saw a lot of people who dressed differently. This is not a section of ours.

My head swiveled back to Chantel who was still looking down at me. I just realized now that she's much taller than me, but that won't stop me from bringing all her kind down.

"You're in a lot of danger than you thought." I spat and grinned wickedly.

Once the council has been alerted of our disappearance, they'll send all their best soldiers to search the whole land and eventually kill everyone who goes along their way.

Chantel's smile even became wider. She nodded to the man standing beside her. The man walked towards me and I was covered with that black cloth again.

I groaned inside the cloth. I was being harshly pushed again from behind my back which made me lose my balance and fall to the ground. My hands felt something liquid. I was touching mud, or should I say, I was covered in mud.

I heard a couple of laughs but they were immediately silenced in a moment. I was still on the ground until a hand lifted me by grabbing a hold of the collar of my shirt.

"Mateo, that is not how we treat a guest...bring her up nicely." I heard Chantel say in a condescending voice that sent a shiver down my spine. Mateo, or whoever is in front of me right now, removed their grip from my collar and lifted me by the arms instead.

The ground I was walking on was still slippery. I must look like a weak puppy right now. A hand wrapped tightly around my arm stopped me from slipping again.

"If you ever did a single action of harm towards my people..." I heard Chantel threatened from my side. So she was the one holding me the whole time. I forcefully snatched my arm from her grip as we walk.

"You still got a fight in you...impressive." I heard her say in a whisper.

Although she can't see my face, I was rolling my eyes every time she speaks. This woman may have gotten me by her looks, but her character is as trash as what they describe Remnants are. No wonder why they were separated from us, that attitude won't work inside the sections.

A hand grabbed my arm again to stop me from walking. It looks like we finally arrived at the castle of the sweet little princess. That must be awful.

"Bring her to the chambers."

After hearing what their boss has said, a pair of hands grabbed my arm and walked me somewhere, probably inside the castle. Without even a minute we stopped walking, they forcibly pushed me inside and I heard the clinking of metals, which only means that they locked me in.

They even left me with this cloth on my head. I sat down on the cold ground and rested my head against the wall behind me. How the hell will I make it back to our section when I am in somewhere the council probably isn't aware of?

"I am doomed," I whispered to myself.

"Hey, at least you're not alone."

My heart leaped for a second when I heard someone talk. I guessed that the person was also locked in one of these somewhat cages because I heard her from my far left.

"You got kidnapped too?" I dumbly asked. Duh, what else is the reason she got brought by here?

"Uh...no...? Well sort of. The guards have caught me stealing at the market." The voice said like it was nothing.

So...this person I am talking to is a Remnant? Don't tell me this is the Remnant prison...

"How about you? Your accent sounds a bit different. Where are you from?"

Will it hurt to tell them that I am made to kill their kind? I hope not. "I'm from Section 4B, 32nd Unit."

I smirked, knowing that the person just realized who they are talking to.

"That's a first. You're the first they have ever caught. Welcome." The person manically laughed.

I swear, once I get out of here, that person will be the first one on my hit list. I groaned and faced my back to avoid any more interaction from them.

"Tell me, royal blood, do you have powers like what they say? I heard that you guys can fly in the air."

I couldn't help but laugh at what they said. Right, these people aren't aware of our technology.

"Why don't you use it now? Maybe you can also help us to get out of here." The person excitedly remarked.

"Like hell, I would do that. All of you will die first before you get out of here." I retorted back.

The whole place suddenly became quiet. I thought the Remnant would make another humorous comment. I heard metals clinking again and the unlocking of locks.

"Enjoy while you are still out there, royal blood." Was the last words I heard from the Remnant before I was dragged out of the cage. Why the hell do they keep calling me royal blood?

I sent to my knees as the person guiding my back pushed me harshly down to the ground, or at least that's what I think it is. If this is where my life ends, then I should thank those dead troublemakers for making me experience the wildest things I could do outside the section.

"Angelie Rosette Groves, you are hereby sentenced to execution for trespassing on private property and manslaughter."
