Third person's POV

"Cora," Rose gulped. She was both unsure and impatient to finally ask this one question. "Can I come home?"

Cora sighed. She had been thinking about this question ever since Rose got better. She knew it would be a matter of time before Rose would ask the question, and here it was. "I don't know." She simply said.

Rose wasn't shocked or surprised. She had a feeling Cora wasn't ready. The doctors and nurses found her fit to leave but it seemed Cora disagreed. "I have to leave the hospital today, Cora," She gulped. "Where do I go if I can't go home?"

Cora looked down, her conversation with Andrea came to mind. "I think you need more time," She said, avoiding all eye-contact with Rose. "I think you need to recover more before we can really go back to how it used to be."

Rose looked away then. She feared for this. She didn't want to go anywhere else, she just wanted to go home. But it seemed Cora had made up her mind already. "Where do I go, Cora?"

Cora finally looked back at Rose. "Someplace you'll be safe."

And so it happened. Rose received her paperwork from the nurse and was allowed to finally leave the hospital. Cora had helped with her bag with clothes and stuff, before she helped Rose into the car.

They drove to a special place. A place Rose would call home for now.

Cora had made all the necessary steps so that Rose could immediately move in.

Rose wasn't sure, especially not when she saw the place. It looked like a different kind of hospital. Rose had hoped she would be done with hospitals...

When Rose was checked in, Cora helped her get settled into her room. It was a rather tiny room but it was cozy.

While Cora was putting away Rose's stuff, Rose rolled her wheelchair to the window. She looked outside and saw a tiny park surrounded by the main building. She noticed how it all looked awfully familiar to the hospital.

"There," Cora finally said. "All set." She then looked at Rose and smiled a bit.

Rose looked around before setting her gaze on Cora. "Cora," She said softly. "I want to go home."

Cora's smile vanished. She sighed before walking to Rose. She knelt in front of Rose to be more on her eye-level. "I know," She said calmly. "I want that too."

"Then why am I here?"

Cora looked away briefly. "Now that you're out of the hospital, I have to go back to work," She said before looking back at Rose. "It doesn't feel right to me to have you home all by yourself all day."

Rose looked down then.

"I just don't want to risk anything," Cora whispered. "I want you to really get better so we can be a family again after that."

Despite the fact she disagreed, Rose nodded.

As the days went by, Rose started to get used to live in the special home. She got physical therapy, she got memory exercises, she got out for walks... She gave it her all to get better.

Every evening, around dinner time, Cora would visit her with Hope. Rose always looked forward to those moment. The moments of them being together, as a family. At those moments, she remembered why she had to keep going. She wanted to get better, for them.

When Cora and Hope had to leave, Cora told Hope to go to the car already. She then looked at Rose. "I know you're not a fan of this place but I want to tell you how much I appreciate the amount of work you've put into this."

Rose smiled a bit.

Cora knelt in front of Rose. "I've been told you almost walked today."

Rose nodded a bit. "They think I'm going to take my first steps soon."

Cora suddenly got up. "I know you can do it."

Rose looked at Cora, and she could see a hint in her eyes. At that moment, she knew what Cora was trying to say without words. Rose grabbed the arms of her wheelchair, she grabbed them tightly before putting her feet on the ground. She breathed out heavily before pushing herself up.

Cora immediately rushed to Rose and held her.

"No," Rose said, trying to push Cora away. "I can do it, please."

Cora slowly let go of Rose and stepped back a bit. She then watched how her wife finally took a few steps after several months.

Rose looked up at Cora, tears in her eyes. "I did it."

Cora's smile covered her whole face. "You did it, Rose!" She rushed to Rose and finally hugged her while standing. "I'm so proud of you."

Rose hugged her back and smiled. "I love you, Cora."

"I love you too, Rose."
