GerEng Week 2021 Day 3: Tears

He was right in the middle of his book when the smoke alarm went off. Ludwig looked up, blinking for a moment, confused by what could have set it off. His question was quickly answered when the smell of something burning hit his nose and smoke started to seep out of the kitchen. Ludwig snapped his head towards the window to find his lover missing from the garden and slowly he started putting two and two together.

He stormed into the kitchen to find Arthur hissing in pain as he held his hand to his chest. Flames erupted from whatever was in the pan. Acting quickly, Ludwig slammed a lid on top and moved it off the burner (with oven mitts of course).

"What were you thinking?" Ludwig growled, trying to contain his anger.

"I just wanted to do something nice for you," Arthur bit back. His face was bright red, his lips contorted into a sneer, and his brows knit together tightly. But for all the anger and venom, tears brimmed at the corner of his eyes as well as he continued to clutch his hand. "I-I don't need a lecture like some child."

Ludwig's gaze softened slightly. "Did you burn yourself?" he asked, trying to grab Arthur's hand to look at it. The Englishman was being stubborn and kept his hand at his chest. "Arthur let me see."

Eventually, Arthur gave in and Ludwig was able to pull Arthur's hand towards himself. The burn wasn't too serious though it did leave almost all of his hand red and swollen. He guided the Brit over to the sink and ran cool water over the injured hand. Arthur winced in pain, while Ludwig placed a loving kiss on his temple in a form of comfort. Once the swelling was down, Ludwig grabbed some ointment and bandages from the bathroom and wrapped up the injured hand.

"There," Ludwig sighed, placing a kiss on the now wrapped hand.

"I-I could have done it myself," Arthur muttered back.

Ludwig only shook his head at his lover's stubbornness before drying the Englishman's still wet eyes with his thumb. "Whatever you say, Arthur."
