The Behavioral Analysis Unit team around Aaron Hotchner gets called in to assist on a serial killer case in New York where they meet the young and surprisingly talented Special Agent Skylar Brown, a former military recruit with a mysterious past. After watching her go on about her work, Hotch decides to offer her a job at the BAU. Of course, she sparks the interest of a lot of people, but not nearly as much as she sparks the interest of one Doctor Spencer Reid.

But as far as clichès go, affection like that tends to either end in eternal happiness or in a total plane crash. In fact, Spencer never planned to fall in love with his best friend and neither did Skylar, but with her past coming back to haunt her and the team, she knows she has to choose their happiness over her own to protect the people she loves the most.
