In the realm of Alaëthria, the sky is a permanent, bruised violet and the earth yields only ash, yet no one has ever shed a tear for it. The world is objectively shattered: floating continents collide with terminal force, crops wither into ash under a dying sun and the streets are lined with the hollow-eyed victims of endless, senseless wars. Yet, a surreal psychic veil blankets the population. Whether human, elf, or beast-kin, the inhabitants are trapped in a state of perpetual, artificial euphoria. Perhaps a god grew tired of prayers and suffering. So it said," Let them be happy." And sealed everything else. They skip through famine-stricken markets with wide, glassy grins. Soldiers exchange jokes while bleeding out on the battlefield. The High Priests perform their daily rites in crumbling cathedrals not out of devotion or desperation, but as a hollow, rhythmic habit, their hymns are cheerful, tuneless humming because they have forgotten the concept of "help" or "mercy." This is a world where the tragedy isn't the suffering itself, but the fact that no one is left to weep for it except the one who rules this world with an iron fist.

One of the failed heroes, in his new life as an ancient on this now brutal planet, began to remember. This is his story. This is the story of The Signless.

My biggest failure in life right now is my continued expectation of a clear-cut black and white scientific explanation of my unusual thought processes to be handed to me on a silver platter by a well-spoken Englishman. This is to be immediately followed by delivery of a 'quick fix' pill or piece of advice that will counter all of my mental health shortcomings with absolutely no side effects whatsoever. Yes, I continue to expect such revelations even though I know deep down that such a thing simply does not and cannot exist. We can't learn and grow without those unpleasant experiences being there to teach us, but you can't blame a girl for dreaming, right?

Hello. This is a short HOMESTUCK fanfiction. If you do not know what Homestuck is, warning this will be odd to you. All the characters in the story belong to Andrew Hussie. This is only a fanfiction. Hope you enjoy!

My time in this world was short, but it was filled with a rightous power that will surge through the heart of my world, Alternia, for all time. My people have too long lived under the oppression that is the Blood Castes. I sought to change the way my race saw themselves. We are not the toys of the higher castes, we are the people of Alternia and I have forever changed the way the lowbloods see the Highbloods. This is the tale of my Eternal Suffering, the power behind my words, the lives of those I have effected, and the love we shared for an Alternia, united by Blood, rather than divided by it. * * * *DISCLAIMER* I do not own Homestuck or the characters in this story. That said, I will most likely update this reguarly, it is based off of Marquise Spinneret Mindfang's Journal, although the story will be told through The Signless, as his narrative, rather than as Mindfang's. I will try to keep the cronology as canon as possible, but for the sake of the story, some aspects may be changed. I will try to include as many Ancestor Trolls as possible, but some may not be around cronologically (such as the Summoner), so I may take creative license to add them into the story.

Every troll has heard of him, but no one knows how his story began. No one knows how he ended up fighting for equality between lowbloods and highbloods.
