ATHENA WOKE UP TANGLED IN REMUS' ARMS. She felt new and alive, relaxed and content and a smile spread across her face because of the memories of the night before. Remus was still asleep, she could hear his slightly heavy breathing and could see his chest rising and falling.
She didn't necessarily want to leave, Athena could stay here forever if given the chance. Yet unfortunately they had a day ahead of them and probably wouldn't be able to avoid the troubles and jokes of people by hiding in here all day.
It was slightly cold considering how close she was lying to Remus and Athena made the sudden decision to reach across him to find her dress, however as she did so she felt Remus moved beneath her.
His eyes fluttered open and he was staring directly at her.
"morning" she smiled lightly and was glad to see him return it.
"good night?" he asked warily,
"i think it was" she laughed, finally finding her dress and pulling it over her head.
"Rena?" he asked and she turned back to look at him,
"yeah?"
"Will you go on a date with me?"
"I think we're already dating Rem"
"I know but I feel like we haven't done this properly and I want everything to be perfect" he smirked,
"Well I don't think there's any anticipation over whether i'm going to say yes" Athena replied, "but for the record, yes I'd love to go on a date with you"
"Good" he beamed, "how about today"
"Today?" Athena asked,
"Well today is a Hogsmede weekend and there's no time like the present"
"Right ok then" she nodded, "what time is it anyway?"
"ten" Remus replied as he reached for his watch on the bedside table, "so should we say twelve?"
"yeah" Rena smiled hoping that she could get ready in that time.
Remus started to move around for his own clothes while Athena tied back her hair to stop it getting in her eyes.
Just as she was going to move the curtain away, she heard a loud clattering sound and a hushed line of cursing.
"Sirius has probably fallen out of bed again" Remus told her with a quick eye roll as he pushed his way out of his own bed followed shortly by Rena.
Sirius had been the one to make the noise however it was clear to see that he hadn't been in bed at all. He was standing wearing the same clothes as the night previous with his hair looking dishevelled and his eyes looking distinctly red.
"What time is it?" he mumbled,
"Ten, have you been in the common room this entire time?" Remus asked.
"It's my birthday!" Sirius yelled loudly and Athena hastily shushed him realising that there was still two boys in the room sleeping.
"Not anymore" Remus pointed out, "Sirius are you... you're completely plastered aren't you"
"I think he's..." Athena began as she looked at Remus,
"What?" Remus frowned,
"High" Athena whispered.
In one glorious movement, Sirius threw up over Remus' left side. The taller boy stood there with a look of bitter disgust written all over his face,
"Yeah I think he's drunk too" Athena nodded,
"I'll sort it out" Remus grunted as he grabbed hold of Sirius' upper arm and began to drag him towards the bathroom.
"I'll help" Athena mused as she vanished the sick on the floor with her wand,
"No Rena I'll handle it" He replied shortly,
"It's fine I can—"
"I'll sort it" Remus cut across her with sudden force. Athena backtracked immediately worried that she may have crossed a line.
"Look I'll see you in two hours, ok?" Remus forced a smile, "if I need help I'll wake up Prongs"
"Right" Athena nodded slowly before she watched Remus and Sirius disappear into the bathroom. She stood stationary for a moment still fearful that she may have upset Remus. Though she couldn't see how she had, she'd only offered to help.
Athena made her way back to Ravenclaw tower to see that many students were already awake and doing work. She felt out of place still dressed for a party with disheveled hair and she worried that people may be able to guess what she had been up to. However the Ravenclaw's didn't really shoot her a second glance as she clambered up the spiral staircase into her own dorm.
Tessa was lying back on her bed reading what looked like a muggle magazine. However as Athena studied it for another moment she realised that the pictures were in fact moving.
"Good night?" Tessa asked knowingly. Athena just smiled in response which seemed to tell the brunette everything that she needed to know.
"I'm going on a date" Athena pointed out, beginning to rummage through her suitcase in search of some clothes.
"That's exciting" Tessa replied, "what are you going to wear?"
"I'm not sure yet" Athena shrugged and watched Tessa's eyes light up in immediate excitement as she placed down her magazine and worked her way over.
It only took them twenty minutes to find the perfect outfit. Athena was left wearing a shortish skirt, some translucent tights and a balloon sleeved shirt that was apparently very in style right now. Athena simply listened to Tessa however she agreed that she looked good as she stared at herself in the mirror.
By twelve Athena was excited about going into Hogsmede with Remus (even though they had been officially dating for a while now) but also worried about Sirius. She hadn't known that he had been taking drugs and although many drugs were harmless when taken lightly, he seemed a complete state when Athena had seen him. She couldn't help but think that this may be more than some light smoking.
Athena worked her way down to the entrance hall with a black overcoat pulled over her shoulders to protect from the autumn weather. She'd agreed to meet Remus at twelve and arrived exactly on time feeling slightly hungry and hoped that they would be going somewhere with food.
She saw people walking out of the entrance hall when she arrived. Laughing jovially or watching their friends talk. Athena lay back against a wall behind her as she watched people leave. The watch on her wrist ticked by and she began to worry that she may have got the wrong time.
However seven minutes later (exactly seven minutes) Remus came darting in the entrance hall wrapping a scarf hastily around his neck. He wore what he always did, jeans and a jumper that suited him perfectly. His hair was a tousled mess however thats not what Athena noticed.
On the side of his face was a growing purple mark, it was slightly green tinged which suggested that it was new. Athena gawped at it for a moment, Athena was used to seeing Remus riddled with injuries however she could tell that this one was different.
The bruise stood out against his pale complexion but he didn't seem to be drawing attention to it and instead smiled at Athena sheepishly as though it wasn't there. Her eyes moved to his hands and she saw exactly what she had expected, bloody knuckles. They'd been patched up but were obviously still red raw. He'd been fighting.
"What happened?" Athena asked. Remus faltered slightly as though expecting that she hadn't noticed. However it was very difficult to miss the large mark on his face.
"Come on" Remus muttered, taking her arm in his and walking outside into the cold and slightly frosty air.
"Remus" she sighed, "you can't just pretend that there's not a huge bruise on your face, did Sirius punch you?"
"No of course he didn't" Remus sighed, "it wasn't him"
"Who was it then?"
"I don't want to talk about this now, this is supposed to be out nice date"
"I'm going to keep asking so you might as well get it out of the way and just tell me"
"You were right" Remus muttered, "Sirius was high"
"Yeah I gathered that much" Athena nodded, "so?"
"Well, oh fucks sake he's got himself into a state. Not paying the people he got them from because he's trying to deny that he got them in the first place"
"He didn't pay them?" Athena whispered, "why is he buying them at all?"
"Because he's Sirius I expect, thinks he's cool" Remus shrugged, "anyway they showed up this morning, these two... idiots"
"They punched you?" Athena gasped, "you should tell someone"
"No I definitely shouldn't" Remus laughed, "they got in one hit Rena"
"You beat them up?"
"I wouldn't say that" Remus shrugged, "I made Sirius pay them but they were still yelling insults and what not so I told them to piss off and leave Sirius alone"
"But they didn't?"
"No they kept going and one one them went to hit Sirius so that's when I stepped in"
"Where were James and Peter?"
"Breakfast" Remus replied, "anyway I doubt they'd be any help"
"How come?"
"Peter's too much of a coward and well, people go to James when they need someone pranked or ridiculed, people come to me when—"
"They need to get someone beaten up"
"Stop saying it like that" Remus muttered, "they're fine, barely touched them really"
"They got a hit in though"
"Just one" Remus shrugged, "Sirius was being no help as usual considering that it's his fucking problem"
"Yeah well, at least he'll stop smoking that shit now",
"I wouldn't count on it" Remus murmured,
"You're kidding?" Athena frowned,
"It's Sirius, he's in a state I told you, not sure what's up with him but his heads a mess"
"Getting high isn't going to help him"
"Tell him that not me"
"I don't want you getting hurt because of this" Athena murmured,
"I do try" Remus shrugged, "anyway, this was supposed to be out nice date and I've already ruined it"
"You haven't ruined it" Athena shook her head, "I'm glad that you told me, it would have been worse if you hadn't"
"Well that's something" Remus laughed,
"Where are we going anyway?" Athena asked, "I'm starving"
"Somewhere with food then" Remus smiled, "I promise it's a nice place"
"If you like it I'm sure I will too"
They walked into the opening of the village and Athena spotted the backstreet where Sirius had taken her when they'd travelled to Hogsmeade.
"There's a book store down there you know" Athena pointed out, "you can swap an old book for a new one... Sirius showed me"
Athena was slightly nervous that bringing up her date with Sirius had been a bad idea however Remus simply smiled in response,
"I know there is" he nodded, "who do you think told Sirius about that?"
Athena frowned as she looked up at him,
"You were the one who told Sirius about it?".
"I have immaculate taste Rena" he nodded, "Sirius was panicking and came to me because he knew how well I knew you, anyway this is what I came up with"
"You never told me about it before?" Athena muttered "you know how much I love books"
"I wanted to show you sometime special" he shrugged, "but then when Sirius came to me, well I thought you'd like to go with him"
"I did at the time" Athena shrugged, "now I wish you'd taken me"
Remus smiled as he linked hands with Athena. They continued walking down the street. Athena thought they might stop at the three broomsticks but they didn't and Athena was somewhat glad, she would rather go somewhere new.
They walked for ages until Remus took a left and pulled her with him. The two of them entered a back lane. For a moment she couldn't see anything and then the cafe came into view.
It was completely beautiful, alive with plants and fairy lights, shining in the sun. On the front sat a chalkboard sign reading 'The Hartland's'.
"I come here a lot" Remus told her, "know the owners well"
Athena nodded as they continued to walk up to the cafe, it smelt of coffee and cake which was a combination that Athena loved. The people sitting around were different that those you'd find in the three broomsticks but in a good way. She saw people with kids, families laughing, couples talking and some people completely alone in their own world. Old muggle music played lightly through the speakers and Athena immediately thought that this would be somewhere she'd like to work.
Behind the counter stood a woman with curly blonde hair pinned into a bun and a bright smile.
"Remus!" She beamed, "you've been a while, thought you'd forgotten about us"
"I could never" Remus laughed, "how've you been?"
"Oh you know me, always fine" she grinned, "I see you've brought a friend"
"Yes this is Athena, probably my favourite person in the world"
Athena turned to him in surprise at this comment. It was a very solid statement with a very broad meaning, favourite person in the world. That meant more than she could imagine.
"Hello Athena, I'm Daisy it's lovely to meet you" the woman smiled,
"Lovely to meet you too, Remus said you knew him well"
"Yes I've known him since he was very small, I may be pushing it in calling myself family but—"
"You wouldn't be pushing it" Remus smiled and Daisy grinned even more.
"Am I right in thinking that you two are..."
"Yes" Remus nodded and Athena felt herself grow warmer as she squeezed Remus' hand.
"That's so sweet" Daisy grinned, "mind you Athena, you have competition. Hazel will be jealous"
"Hazel?" Athena frowned as she looked at Remus,
"Hazel is Daisy's daughter" Remus laughed, "she's only five"
"Completely in love with Remus though" Daisy grinned, "anyway what can I get the two of you?",
"We'll have the hazelnut hot chocolate and two ham and cheese paninis's" Remus replied simply. Athena just nodded in response, she trusted Remus to order something nice.
"The hazelnut hot chocolate is out most popular drink" Daisy explained, "even named our daughter after it"
Athena laughed before realising that she was being serious,
"Don't get me wrong, we liked the name as well but that's how it was inspired. We always say it was the other way around"
"Oh here she comes now" Remus pointed. Athena saw two girls talking out of the back room followed by a very tall man. The two girls were blonde like their mother. One was taller and had very long hair for her age and looked almost like a real life rapunzel, the other was shorter and had tight curls that met her shoulders.
"Hazel and Rosie" Daisy explained, "my two angels"
The man behind picked the smaller one up and waved to Remus.
"That's Danny, my husband" Daisy nodded. The man was tall with glasses and dark hair.
"Nice to meet you and nice to see you Remus" the man grinned,
"Im Athena" she said with a smile,
"This one will love that" Danny nodded to Rosie, "she loved stories about mythology"
"Ena!" The young blonde grinned and Athena felt her heart melt by how cute she was.
"Take a seat!" Daisy called, Remus was currently being hugged by the older of the two girls who was looking up at Athena warily through large brown eyes.
Athena waved and she smiled a toothy grin.
They sat in the window booth which meant that the two of them could look out at the natural courtyard in the backstreet.
Hazel pulled herself up onto the seat beside Remus and smiled at him again.
"Girls I doubt these two want to be babysitting the two of you" Danny chucked,
"But it's Remu" Hazel pouted,
"I don't mind" Athena replied as she looked to Remus who nodded in agreement,
"As long as Rena doesn't mind" Remus said.
Danny shrugged with happiness, evidently happy to get the two girls off their hands for a bit.
"Ena!" Rosie called again,
"Hello" Athena smiled, "you're Rosie aren't you?"
"Yeah" she grinned, "Ena... goddess... war"
"Yeah Athena's the goddess of war, you're clever aren't you"
Rosie beamed happily. Daisy walked over with two plates and two mugs of hot chocolate. She placed them down in front of the group.
Athena knew that this wasn't a typical date but neither her or Remus minded. The girls coloured in while they are their food and laughed with one another. She found herself having a brilliant time and also found herself loving the girls more and more.
"Do you like your name?" Hazel asked Athena,
"Yeah I do" she nodded, "do you?"
"I love it, I like mine too but I have a friend who completely hates her name"
"Really?" Athena gasped, "what are they called"
"She's called Nymphadora but everyone calls her Tonks except me, I can call her Dora because I'm special"
"She's related to Sirius" Remus told Athena,
"Is she?"
"Yeah you know Sirius' favourite cousin?"
"Andromeda?",
"Yeah Nymphadora is her daughter"
"Oh that's sweet"
"She can change her hair colour at will" Hazel continued, "she usually has it pink, that's my favourite"
"That sounds very cool" Athena nodded, "is she your best friend?"
"Yeah" Hazel nodded happily, "we're going to be together forever!"
"I'm sure you will be" Athena grinned.
They stayed for another hour before they decided it was time for them to leave. The girls seemed disappointed by this but Athena promised that they would be back soon.
They walked back out into the open air with hands entwined,
"They're amazing" Athena laughed,
"They are, aren't they" he agreed, "I hope you didn't mind sitting with the girls, I know it was supposed to be a date but—"
"No I loved it" Athena grinned, "it was a perfect date"
"Perfect?" Remus raised his eyebrows,
"Any date with you would be perfect" Athena shrugged.
"I'll keep that in mind" he grinned as they began to walk back up to the castle.
