So for a little backstory... Last year... in October (Jimtober)... I made a homemade birthday feast to honour my Kpop fave. I have known kpop since I was 8 and it's been 12 years... I have multiple top artists, but since he came in, I haven't turned back.
To many this would seem like any celebrity crush, but actually no. It's like I see myself in him - though an uncanny number of similarities. And a lot of seeing him pushed me to take steps forward in my own life and I couldn't be more grateful.
I wrote a long poem out under that post. It was the first time people could see that I wrote. The same year, I also added it up into a small birthday project for him.
I baked again this year and around the same time, went ahead and reposted the poem onto my poetry page, which isn't necessarily a fanpage, but definitely has a lot of BTS mentioned.
I've written poetry long before they debuted. Life was harsh and at times my writing was all I could do with things preventing me from dancing and basketball. Soon writing blossomed into my escape in countless situations and in 2020 I opened up a whole page for it.
I have always been into languages and had picked up really basic Korean when I was much younger. I still get nervous, but I try, as much as they can speak in English to thousands in person and on cameras to millions.
The whole group has been life changing indeed. Why Jimin in particular?
It's not uncommon to have a "bias" and I have one for literally all artists I listen to and I can't count the number - it includes all generations of Kpop as well as other genres of Korean music and even other language based music.
It was different when it came to Jimin. I just could see myself in him. To the point that if I was struggling with something, I'll manage to find it in him or maybe he came out of it. It gives me the "you saw me do it. I did it. Now, it's your turn" feeling that I can't shake off.
