Steve and I walked into the lab with the Maximoff twins, seeing Tony and Bruce messing with the cradle.
"I'm only gonna say this once-" Steve started, but Tony cut him off.
"How about nonce?" Tony shot back, and I approached the cradle, observing it.
"Tony, shut it down." I warned, and Steve glared at him.
"Shut it down!"
"Nope, not gonna happen." Tony responded, and I placed my hand on the cradle, warningly.
"You're going to create another murder bot." I said, and Tony raised his hand toward me, his iron armour adorning the skin, threatening me.
"Don't you dare."
"You don't know what you're doing." Steve told Bruce, making him laugh condescendingly.
"And you do? She's not in your head?" He asked, gesturing towards Wanda, who nodded in understanding.
"I know you're angry-" She began, but Bruce cut her off, which didn't surprise me, after what she did to him.
"Oh, we're way past that. I could choke the life out of you and never change a shade."
"Banner, after everything that's happened-" Steve started, and Tony jumped in this time.
"That's nothing compared to what's coming!"
"You don't know what's in there!" Wanda examined, and I focused my energy on the cradle.
"I'm done with this." I said, placing my other hand on the cradle.
"Shut it down, or I will."
"No." Tony responded, and the metal underneath my hands began turning to stone, but before it could go much further, I was hit with a repulsor beam, and I flew to the floor, the cradle remaining intact.
"This isn't a game Tony!" Steve yelled, racing toward me, offering me his hand to help me up.
"The creature-" Wanda tried to explain, but Pietro used his quick speed to destroy the lab equipment around us, making me smile slightly in relief.
"No, no. Go on. You were saying?" He asked, but a bullet through the glass undernea us sent Pietro through the floor.
"Pietro!" Wanda screamed, and I saw Clint holding gun on the bottom floor, smirking.
"What? You didn't see that coming?" I heard him ask, and Bruce grabbed Wanda.
"Go ahead, piss me off."
Everything felt tense, and I knew a fight was about to break out, but Thor entered quickly, pounding on the cradle with Mjolnir, sending a massive bolt of lightning through the building.
"Thor!" I exclaimed, but my joy was short lived when a body emerged from the cradle, flying across the room as we all chased after it.
"I'm sorry, that was odd." It said, turning to Thor, who stood next to him.
"Thankyou."
Thor gave him a nod, walking over to me, bringing me in for a hug.
"Are you alright?" He asked, and I nodded, hugging him back tightly.
"I am, are you?" I asked, making me brother nod.
"Of course."
"Thor, you helped create this?" Steve asked, and Thor let go of me, moving back to stand next to the new super bot.
"I've had a vision." He began, grabbing our attention, and sighing.
"A whirlpool that sucks in all hope of life and at it's center is that." Thor said, pointing towards the bright yellow stone in his Vision' head.
Oh, no.
The infinity stones.
"What, the gem?" Bruce asked, and my brother nodded.
"It's the Mind Stone." I whispered, but loud enough for the others to hear me.
"It's one of the six Infinity Stones, the greatest power in the universe, unparalleled in its destructive capabilities." Thor explained, and Steve looked confused.
"Then why would you bring it to-"
"Because Tony is right." I interrupted him, seeing where this was all going to go, making Thor smile.
"Oh, it's definitely the end times." Bruce muttered, and Thor gave him a look.
"The Avengers cannot defeat Ultron."
"Not alone." Vision said, and Steve gave the robot a strange look.
"Why does your 'vision' sound like JARVIS?" He asked, and I smiled a little.
"We reconfigured JARVIS' matrix to create something new." Tony explained, but Steve just shook his head, making me frown.
"I think I've had my fill of new."
"Steve, you need to trust me." I whispered, gesturing to myself, making Steve smile down at me.
"Of course I trust you."
"Then trust Vision, I do." I said, and Steve looked over at the bot again.
"You think I'm a child of Ultron?" Vision asked, and Steve kept a blank expression.
"You're not?"
"He's not." I confirmed, and Vision walked around the room.
"I'm not Ultron. I'm not JARVIS. I am."
"I looked in your head and saw annihilation." Wanda spoke up, and Vision gave her a look.
"Look again."
"Yeah, her seal of approval means jack to me." Clint said, making me frown.
"Their powers, the horrors in our heads, Ultron himself, they all came from the Mind Stone, and they're nothing compared to what it can unleash." Thor said, and I nodded in agreement.
"But with it on our side-" I said but Steve cut me off, giving me an apologetic smile while he did.
"Is it? Are you? On our side?"
"I don't think it's that simple." Vision responded, and Clint looked annoyed.
"Well it better get real simple, real soon."
"I am on the side of life. Ultron isn't, he will end it all." Vision explained, and Tony tapped his chin.
"What's he waiting for?"
"You, I would suspect." I answered.
It would make an awful lot of sense, since Tony created Ultron.
"Where?" Bruce asked, and Clint raised his hand, telling us he knew.
"Sokovia. He's got Nat there too."
We could rescue Natasha too, that would be great.
"If we're wrong about you, if you're the monster that Ultron made you to be-" Bruce started, but Vision interrupted him.
"What will you do?" He asked, and after giving everyone in the room a once over, he must have deducted that they would kill him, because his features softened.
"I don't want to kill Ultron. He's unique, and he's in pain." He said, looking at Clint.
"But that pain will roll over the earth, so he must be destroyed."
"Every form he's built, every trace of his presence on the net, we have to act now." I announced, and Thor nodded.
"And not one of us can do it without the others."
"Maybe I am a monster. I don't think I'd know if I were one. I'm not what you are, and not what you intended. So there may be no way to make you trust me, but we need to go." Vision said, picking up Mjolnir, handing it to Thor, and walking away, leaving everyone in a state of shock.
"Right." Thor said, walking over to Tony and patting him on the shoulder.
"Well done."
He then gestured for me to follow him, and he walked after Vision.
"Three minutes. Get what you need." Steve ordered, and I left the room to see my brother.
"Thor, there are only a few infinity stones that have yet to turn up." I said and he nodded, placing his hand on my shoulder.
"We have some work to do after we take down Ultron, sister."
"We will be going straight back to Asgard, won't we brother?" I asked, and Thor gave me a sympathetic smile, making my heart drop a little bit.
"Unfortunately, yes."
"I understand, it's alright." I said, and Thor pulled me in for a hug.
"Besides, I give it two years before the Avengers need us again."
"They do rely on us a little bit." I joked, and Thor nodded.
"You will see Steve again."
"The fate of the universe is more important." I pointed out, and my brother laughed.
"You were thinking about the patriotic one, though."
"Shush." I smiled, giving my brother and Vision a nod, before turning on my heel and walking inside.
"No way we all get through this. If even one tin soldier is left standing, we've lost. It's gonna be blood on the floor." Tony said, and Steve smiled.
"I got no plans tomorrow night."
"I get first crack at the big guy. Iron Man's the one he's waiting for." Tony said, and I nodded, walking past them.
"That's true, he hates you the most."
"Ultron knows we're coming." Steve said, once we'd all buckled ourselves into the quinjet.
"Odds are we'll be riding into heavy fire, and that's what we signed up for, but the people of Sokovia, they didn't. So our priority is getting them out." Steve said and Pietro nodded, volunteering to take on the job.
His powers were best suited for the position, after all.
"All they want is to live their lives in peace, and that's not going to happen today, but we can do our best to protect them." Steve said, and I leaned my head on his shoulder, making him pause for a moment.
"We can get the job done, and find out what Ultron's been building. We find Romanoff, and we clear the field."
"I'll get Nat." Bruce nodded, making me smile.
He must really care for her.
"Keep the fight between us. Ultron thinks we're monsters and we're what's wrong with the world. This isn't just about beating him. It's about whether he's right." Steve said, and I smiled.
Wise man.
"You ready for this?" Steve asked, kissing my forehead, and I nodded.
"Absolutely."
