Darcy: a couple hours old
4:00 PM
"Hi mum,"Harry smiles as he opens the front door to see his mum standing on the doorstep with a bundle of flowers in her arms.
"Oh my baby boy,"Anne gushes pulling him into a giant bear hug, getting teary eyed already, "I love you. How are you? How's Camryn? And Darcy?"
"Mum, breathe,"Gemma smirks with her hands full of containers filled with heat up dinners that Anne made for Harry and Camryn, "hi bubba. Congrats."
Harry smiles at his sister, taking some of the containers out of her hands, "thanks Gems." He turns to face his mum again, "and we're all doing good mum. Darcy is so excited to meet you."
Anne squeals in excitement, "I'm so excited to meet her! How's Camryn feeling?"
Harry sighs blowing out a breath through his lips and puffing out his cheeks, "she's good, she's good. Really sore. I guess that's what 20 hours of labor will do to you."
Anne pouts cooing and kissing Harry's cheek, "that poor thing. How are you doing? Was labor okay? Watching her was okay?"
Harry nods and fidgets with his fingers as he thinks back to the labor. "It was really rough to watch, but she did so good, mum. Like she was incredible. I don't understand how she did it. Every time she said she couldn't she just kept going. I've never been prouder of her."
Anne puts her hands over her heart as she sees Harry tearing up. "Oh baby..." She brings him in for a tight hug and gives him a squeeze. "I'm sure you were an amazing partner."
Harry wetly smiles at Anne, his chin wobbling with oncoming tears, "mum, I'm a dad."
Anne's tears start falling as she nods and brings him in for another big hug, feeling his shoulders shake beneath her arms. "You are, sweetheart. You've got a little girl."
"I can't believe it,"Harry whispers, squeezing Anne one last time and then pulling away, "it's been like 15 hours since she was born and I still can't believe it."
Anne nods and wipes at a few of her tears and then kisses Harry's cheek, whispering how much she loves him. "Can I see them?"
"Of course,"Harry nods, "follow me, they're in the living room."
Anne and Gemma follow Harry who leads them into the kitchen first to put the containers in the fridge before leading them to the living room.
Camryn is sat on the couch with a blanket hanging over her legs. Her hair is tied up into a messy bun with almost half of it fallen out and hanging down her neck. Her eyes have giant bags under them and her cheeks are blushed red. Darcy is cuddled in her arms sleeping soundly. Despite it all, she's absolutely glowing.
"Hi guys!"Camryn smiles tiredly resting her head against the couch cushion.
"Oh hi sweet girl,"Anne coos walking over to Camryn and gently hugging her shoulders, cautious of the baby in Camryn's arms, "how are you?"
"I'm okay, I'm a bit sore and tired but she's worth it,"Camryn smiles down at Darcy.
"Oh yes she is,"Anne agrees rubbing a gentle finger down Darcy's cheek. "Oh Camryn, she's gorgeous. Look at her! Oh my goodness..."
Gemma stays by Harry and wraps her arms lovingly around his waist, watching as their mum coos over Camryn and Darcy.
"We got her all dressed up to see you,"Harry's dimples appear as he watches Anne gently kiss Darcy's forehead, "it's the first real outfit we've put her in."
"I love it, she looks beautiful,"Anne gushes. She turns her attention quickly to Camryn and cups her cheek as she kisses her other cheek, "you did wonderfully, sweetheart. I'm so proud of you."
"Thank you, mum." Camryn smiles over at Anne with tears in her eyes; Anne cooing over Darcy making her quite emotional. "Do you want to hold her?"
Anne nods her head rapidly as Camryn gently shifts Darcy from her arms to Anne's. Darcy whimpers a bit at the change, but then settles her cheek into Anne's chest, returning to sleeping. "Oh she's so tiny!"
Camryn nods giggling a bit, "she sure didn't feel tiny when she was coming out, but yeah she is! Not even 6 pounds."
"And she has your curls, baby,"Anne smiles up at Harry with tears rolling down her face.
"She does,"Harry smiles proudly at his daughter, "Cam thinks she looks a lot like me."
"And her little bow,"Anne squeals, "darling Darcy you are gorgeous. Just perfect."
Gemma removes her arms from around Harry and walks over to the couch to sit next to Camryn and gently hugs her to her side, "hey babes. Congrats. She's so cute."
"Thanks Gemmy,"Camryn lays her head on Gemma's chest as Gemma puts her chin on top of Camryn's head, "she's come a long way from piss on a stick, huh?"
Gemma laughs, hugging Camryn tighter as she remembers the day her and Camryn found out about Camryn's pregnancy.
"Hey mum,"Harry begins, sitting down in between Camryn and Anne on the couch.
"Hmmm?"Anne responds not taking her eyes off of the sleeping newborn in her arms.
"Do you like your granddaughter Darcy,"Harry asks, "Darcy Anne."
Anne gasps looking from Harry to Camryn to Harry again, her eyes filling with tears. "Really? Oh, really? Are you kidding? After me?! Are you sure?"
"No, we're not kidding,"Harry smiles at his mother's excitement, "her name is Darcy Anne."
"We love you mumma,"Camryn smiles, reaching over Harry to put her hand in Anne's, "thank you for always believing in us and supporting us."
Anne squeezes Camryn's hand with tears pooling out of her eyes and then looks down at her granddaughter in her arms. She gently brings Darcy up a bit in her arms so that she can kiss her forehead, "I love you, sweet girl."
Two more minutes go by of Anne cooing over Darcy while Gemma, Harry and Camryn talk.
"Mum?"Gemma asks, "can I have a turn now?"
"Well, I guess you can have her for a bit,"Anne smiles, winking.
Anne stands up from the couch and walks over to place Darcy gently in Gemma's arms.
"Oh,"Gemma whispers looking down at her tiny niece cooing softly in her arms, "hi baby girl. Oh, you're so tiny. I love you. Yes I do."
Darcy squirms in Gemma's arms opening her eyes a bit. "Oh that's a miracle, Gem,"Harry jokes, "she must like you because that's only like the third time since she was born that she's opened her eyes."
"Oh look at those pretty blue eyes,"Anne whispers leaning over Harry to look at Darcy, "just like her mumma's."
"So you made it just in time, huh?"Anne smiles at Harry.
Harry puffs out his cheeks, smiling a bit and looking at Camryn and putting his arm around her, "yep. Just in time. I got here at about 9 and Cami started pushing at about midnight."
"Oh wow. She waited just for you, huh?" Anne looks over at Camryn, "Jay said you did so good, Cami."
"Aww really?"Camryn smiles up at Anne, "thanks! I tried my best."
"And was this boy a good help or do I need to have a talk with him?"Anne teases messing up Harry's curls a bit.
"He was amazing,"Camryn gushes looking up playfully at Harry and puckering her lips which causes him to laugh and roll his eyes, "he never left my side and talked me through the whole thing. I may have pulled out a few of his curls though, and ruined one of his favorite shirts."
Harry laughs and turns his gaze from Camryn to his mum, "she puked all down the front of me and my favorite shirt. And yeah, a ton of my curls are missing because Cami took out her anger on them while she was pushing."
Anne laughs, rolling her eyes at Harry and then reaches over to grab Camryn's hand, "oh my goodness I think those are small prices to pay compared to Camryn."
"That's what I'm saying!"Camryn exclaims playfully slapping Harry's chest, "When he wants to push a human out of his body, then I'll let him complain about some pulled out hair."
"Don't forget the vomit,"Harry cocks his eyebrows up at Camryn.
"Oh, how could I ever forget the vomit?"Camryn grins, taking Harry's chin in her hand and kissing his lips.
"Alright, please explain to me how the other boys were with helping you through labor,"Gemma smiles laughing a bit, "because I've been trying to imagine it and I can't imagine anything worse."
Camryn and Harry laugh as they think back to the boys during Camryn's labor.
"Hmmm,"Camryn thinks, "let's see, Niall looked like he was going to puke and pass out throughout the whole thing."
Gemma laughs and shakes her head, "seems like Niall."
"Louis was amazing actually. I think it's because of his mum and being around pregnant ladies a lot, but he was great,"Camryn smiles continuing, "He was like my Harry when Harry wasn't here yet. He always rushed over to me when I would start to have a contraction. He was great."
"He's such a sweet boy,"Anne gushes thinking about her son's best mate.
"He is, he was so good to me and helpful,"Camryn grins looking up at Harry who's smirking down at her.
"And Liam was amazing too. He was so sweet. He was a bit nervous, not like Niall nervous,"Camryn jokes, "but he was definitely nervous. He was so good at helping me though. The sweet thing looked up videos on Youtube about pressure relief and then tried them on me. They didn't really help much, I don't think he was doing it right, but it's the thought that counts."
Anne and Gemma laugh as Anne squeezes Camryn's hand.
"I'm so proud of you, honey,"Anne says looking at Camryn.
"Thank you mumma,"Camryn smiles leaning over Harry to allow Anne to kiss her forehead.
"And I'm proud of you too, baby boy,"Anne smiles kissing Harry's cheek.
