What's up everyone it's Mario and Sonic fanboy and today we're going to be doing a review on Zuko VS Shoto Todoroki. Now sorry about the delay for this review I have been busy with school and finishing working on chapter 8 of Mario and Sonic: Dimensional Chaos, but we're here now. So for those of you who don't know I actually did this matchup a year before Death Battle did in Season 1 of Mario, Sonic, and Mega Man Death Battle if you wanna check that out you can so anyways without further a do let's get started. If you haven't seen the video yet please do because it's right here.
So what I liked about the battle is the research I always said that their bad at research in some episodes but when it comes to fights with Avatar: The Last Airbender, Fullmetal Alchemist, and My Hero Academia I think they did a great job doing all those characters justice (although Gaara would slap Toph but even they know it's outdated thanks to that scene with Deadpool VS The Mask). I honestly thought that the fight itself was awesome they even had Zuko's official voice actor Dante Basco to voice Zuko in this fight which is amazing, I really enjoyed the music Frozen Fire I thought it was way better than Elements of Alchemy which was the music for Aang VS Edward Elric. But my favorite part was this scene....
That alone has to be one of the most powerful scenes I have seen in Death Battle so far... Like you cannot tell that it looks so powerful, my heart sank when I saw this because Zuko and Todoroki literally seeing themselves in each other that shows that not only do Shoto and Zuko have a lot in common but they are literally mirror images of each other. That means that they are so connected to one another that the differences do not matter like they literally understand each other they know what it feels like to be in that exact situation at that exact point and in their case aside from being able to manipulate fire it's stuff like growing up with abusive fathers (Ozai and Endeavor), kind and caring mothers (Ursa and Rei Todoroki) who disappeared for several reasons (Ursa because she was banished for her actions of saving Zuko and Rei sent to the hospital after scaring Shoto from a mental breakdown) and reuniting with them years later, having starting off as rivals with the series main protagonists they opposed at first (Aang and Izuku Midoriya), and if the theories were true and Dabi actually is Toya Todoroki, Shoto's older bother than also evil siblings (Azula and Dabi). And the most noticeable one having scars on the left side of their faces because of their parents (Ozai burning Zuko for refusing to fight which led to his banishment and Rei poured boiling water on Shoto because it reminded her too much of Endeavor out of mental breakdown). Zuko and Shoto have so much in common I only screeched the surface as their is likely even more things that they have in common than even I realized. This scene also makes me sad because my favorite characters from their have to fight to the death rather than bond over their dark pasts. If this wasn't an actual Death Battle I bet ya this would really happen.

Zuko and Shoto will definitely get along so well right to the point where they would understand each other. It would be amazing to see them bond. But enough about the fight and the bond between Zuko and Shoto let's get into the most important part of the episode and that is the research.
This was originally going to be a debunk just in case they made Zuko win and downplay the sh*t out of Todoroki however they got the outcome current Todoroki would win and this is coming from someone who like Zuko more than Shoto. Now this is a close match as Zuko is indeed faster than Shoto (I said that Shoto was faster in my version but after further research its definitely not the case.) Zuko was able to react to Azula's lightning (He scales to Iroh who redirected a return stroke from the sky but he had to react at Mach 119 to do this based on the time frame and the distance of Iroh's hand.) based on some calculations I found on the vs battle wiki Zuko's reaction speed should be well Mach 592, the closest Shoto can get at that speed is scaling to fellow students like Tenya Iida, Fumikage Tokoyami, and Katsuki Bakugo. Tokoyami was able to block Denki Kaminari's electricity which was fired at him using Dark Shadow. I agree with ScrewAttack that it's technically lightning as Quirks aren't magic and there are very few ways for electricity to travel through the air. Lightning is essentially an ionized path that electricity travels through, Kaminari's Quirk must use the same method. Plus Denki has absorbed lightning & electricity like attacks before, and Kumikage was able to block Kamninari, and Tenya was able to move some fast that Tokoyami couldn't react fast enough in time, plus Katsuki was able to dodge the Dark Shadow attacks, and Todoroki and keep up with Iida and Bakugo in a fight, plus I found calculations that put Tenya's top speed at Mach 425 that's close but not enough to keep up with Zuko's reaction speed. Plus Zuko does have more experience and has better martial arts and has used firebending longer than Todoroki has. So if Zuko can get close he would win despite that speed really doesn't matter especially since Shoto's sliding on ice and skills made harder for Zuko to get close. Plus Shoto has the edge in strength, durability, power, and versatility.
Shoto was able to cover half a stadium in less than a second with his ice I found calculations that are at 31 kilotons of TNT (from Idea Shock) I've heard Avatar fans say that Zuko can simply melt Shoto's ice which is false. Yes fire melts ice but not instantly when it comes to gigantic glaciers plus firebending becomes extremely difficult to bend in cold temperatures, yes Zuko has melted through ice prisons before but only ones where he can still move or at least breath remember firebending requires breath and movement and being in a cold/icy environment and being frozen sold is any firebender's weakness if their frozen and can't move or surrounded by an environment that is WAY too cold where it's difficult to breath fire then Zuko won't be able to firebend yes Iroh did teach him how to survive the cold weather by heating up his temperature but even Iroh himself admits later in season 2 that Zuko would've frozen to death in the storm despite teaching him how to use the heat temperature to survive the weather and the fact that Avatar fans can just watch the show from start to finish ignore these facts and say Zuko can survive and melt through any ice that throws in his way is baffling to say that least as Zuko can't firebend in a high cold temperature plain and simple no matter how much he tries plus Zuko has never been shown to melt through an entire glacier unless if you count what Katara did to him at the North Pole is a glacier but even then that's astray because the calculations I found for that feat were 3 Tons of TNT which is roughly over 10,390 times WEAKER than the glacier Todoroki created even if we scale him to characters like Aang who in base form was able to kick a large bolder which based on the weight at 9,427 tons or Toph who was able to hold up a library at the size of a castle that what, speed, and the energy output I found was 367 tons of TNT it would not make any much of a difference because not only has Todoroki covered an a forest, a town and can great ice the size of a mountain (from what I heard) but Todoroki can literally freeze Zuko both inside and outside his body by touching him, and freezing his insides a big deal because can he end up freezing Zuko's heart and lungs making it difficult for Zuko to breath fire and will cause Zuko to shatter into pieces plus Shoto has been shown to freeze people much quicker in the movie (and yes the movie is canon as the creator confirmed.) as he also froze a lake while doing freezing Chimera even if Zuko can break out of his glacier or any of his ice attacks, Shoto will still overpower him with blunt force drama with more ice.
As for fire Zuko may have more experience in firebending and can definitely redirect Shoto's fire and that Dragon Fire is much hotter than normal fire (especially since he can use those flames in different colors) but it doesn't matter Todoroki can easily counter with his own flames not just the difference in temperatures but also the difference in power, his fire should be equal to his ice side as after he froze half of a stadium, Shoto used his fire to melt that the ice in the matter of seconds so his fire half should have the output as his ice side so by add 31 kilotons with another 31 kilotons we get 62 kilotons of TNT if combining them both WAY more than what Zuko is capable of on top of that Shoto's Fire is comparable to Endeavor who not only sliced a building into pieces with his flames but also clashed with Dabi who vaporized ice at the size of the forest which has based on some calculations are literally almost 70 kilotons of TNT (69 kilotons of TNT), Zuko didn't have that type of power output. And yes Endeavor can turn his flames blue so it's likely Shoto can do the same so it's safe to say he's almost comparable to Dabi. Now he's nowhere near close to Sozin's Comet where he becomes MUCH more powerful with firebending so Zuko would make this fight extremely close and match Shoto however the results wouldn't change as much. Zuko scales to Iroh who destroyed a portion of the walls of Ba Sing Se and I found some calculations that put it up to 2 kilotons of TNT, that's not even close to Todoroki's best feats, besides that's a large building level feat. Now Zuko and Azula clashes and sent shockwaves in entire city blocks but that still doesn't come close to the entire town level and forest level feats, so even if we use Sozin's Comet it won't change the results, sure it would make this fright extremely close and Zuko would have a huge counter against Shoto's ice but it won't change the victory. So regardless if we use Sozin's Comet or not Shoto's fire and ice abilities are much stronger and more powerful than Zuko even using half of Shoto's power is still more than enough to overpower Zuko. Plus Shoto took an attack from Katsuki's explosion attacks and Idea Shock's calculations I found are about almost 90 kilotons of TNT (89 kilotons of TNT) and keep in mind Todoroki was holding back and let himself lose when he fought Bakugo so his power output is likely higher than that especially since he should be comparable to Bakugo in terms of power. Also another thing I want to get out the way is that someone said that Zuko survived Aang in the Avatar State in the comics which is wrong because Aang wasn't even trying to go at full power in the Avatar State (if anything he was holding back) because if he did Aang would've destroyed Zuko on the spot, so no Zuko doesn't scale to the Avatar State, I just wanna clear things up because their is no evidence of Zuko scaling to Avatar State Aang. Another thing I wanna clear up is Zuko can generate lightning that's what many Avatar fans said, while I agree that it's possible we never actually see him do it we'll only seen him redirect lightning, though not like it matter as Todoroki should be at lightning speed in terms of reaction speed anyways so it doesn't matter. The only thing in the research I had problems with is that they left out Zuko's swords, those would've been a huge help because if Zuko can get in close he can definitely land some deadly if not fatal blows and Shoto, though the results wouldn't change even if he uses it but either it's a shame that Death Battle left this out.
Overall while Zuko does have his advantages like speed, martial arts, experience, and can redirect fire, Shoto's strength, durability, power, and better versatility were just too much for Zuko to handle. But anyways it's nice to see one of my matchups come to life but it's not the only as the upcoming Death Battle is Red Hood VS Winter Solider.
I'm really excited for this as it's another matchup I did in Season 2 of Mario Sonic Mega Man Death Battle, and though Winter Solider wins I already know who is going to win in the official version based on DC's winning streak against Marvel and I know the loser is going to get downplayed to oblivion so I'm gonna get my debunk ready just in case if that happens which likely will because it is DC we're talking about after all.
