Harry quietly opens the front door cringing at how it creeks. He's been on a mini tour for a week and a half now playing shows every night all over the United Kingdom. He shrugs his duffle bag up onto his shoulder more and starts up the stairs expecting to be greeted by a sleeping Camryn. Instead, as soon as he gets close to the bedroom he hears Camryn's voice quietly singing a lullaby and Bowie's little strained cries. He smiles a bit at the sound of her voice, excited that he's no longer just hearing it over the phone.
He quietly opens the bedroom door met with low lit lights and Camryn holding both Bowie and August in her arms. Bowie cuddled in the crook of her right arm and August snuggled into her left side with his head on her shoulder. Camryn's eyes meet Harry's, they're red and swollen and Harry notices a few tears running down her cheeks. Camryn's eyes light up a bit at the sight of Harry and August's head rises from Camryn's shoulder to sleepily smile at Harry.
"Hi bug,"Harry greets a little concerned at the sight he's taking in. He rushes over to hug her and takes August from Camryn's arm noticing how hot he feels. He's just in a nappy and his bloated belly feels warm against Harry's arm.
"Hi baby, I missed you,"Camryn smiles a bit and sniffles wiping the tears off of her cheeks. She leans in to give Harry a long awaited kiss.
"I missed you too,"Harry whispers keeping his forehead touching hers.
His lips meet hers again, "how are you?"
"I think Auggie's sick,"Camryn replies shushing Bowie as she bounces up and down a bit, "he's got a slight fever."
Harry's lips turn downward as he looks at the little boy in his arms. His blue eyes are a bit droopy and red from crying, his cheeks are flushed and his breath is more labored because his nose is stuffed.
Harry places a hand on his forehead, "yeah you feel a bit hot, huh little man." Auggie leans into Harry's hand, welcoming the coldness of outside still on it.
Harry kisses August's cheek, "I love you. I missed my buddy."
"D-D-Dada..."August whines looking at Harry.
"I know bub, I know you don't feel good,"Harry coos tucking his head into August's neck and rocking him, "I'm sorry bubba."
"He's so tired, but he won't go to sleep,"Camryn informs Harry as Bowie starts to cry louder as Camryn switches him from laying in her arms to her chest.
She sighs shutting her eyes to fight back the tears, "I'm just so overwhelmed."
"Love,"Harry frowns as he raises his head from Auggie's neck as Camryn's voice breaks. He moves towards her to encircle her in a hug.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry,"Camryn sniffles into Harry's chest as Harry runs his hand through her hair and places his lips on top of her head, "I just don't know why Bowie is crying. I've tried everything, nursed him, changed his nappy, rocked him. Nothing works. I'm just so tired. He's done this every night this week."
Harry feels a wave of guilt wash over him. He's never seen Camryn this overwhelmed. He knew he shouldn't have left her alone for this long with all of the kids. He knew it was a bad idea, but he let her convince him that she'd be fine. He'd offered to ask his mum to stay with Camryn to help, but Camryn had refused, wanting to prove to him that she could manage. And although she had managed, it came at the price of her sleep and sanity.
Bowie screams even louder as Camryn sways side to side helplessly.
"Baby I'm so sorry,"Harry whispers with his cheek on top of her head, "I shouldn't have left you babe, this was too much and for too long. I'm so sorry."
"It's not your fault,"Camryn lifts her head to look at Harry. He brings a hand to her cheek and lightly rubs it with his thumb.
"The days weren't too hard,"Camryn sniffles, "it's just the nights that are hard. Especially tonight cause of Auggie being sick." She rubs August's blonde waves back from his forehead.
Harry nods his head looking at August. He rubs Camryn's cheek as he thinks, "what about you take August and have some snuggles with him in our bed, and I'll take Bowie and try to calm him down."
Camryn nods gratefully blowing out a breath causing some stray hairs of hers to fly up.
"Okay, hand me this little lad,"Harry says grabbing Bowie from Camryn's arms. Camryn takes August from Harry's arms and snuggles him to her chest.
"I'll see you in a bit, my love,"Harry whispers against Camryn's lips.
"Better hurry,"Camryn winks as she gives him a kiss.
"I'll try my best,"Harry smiles against Camryn's lips.
Harry walks out of the bedroom with a crying Bowie in his arms. He walks down to the stairs and into the living room and sits on the couch.
"Hi bubba,"Harry whispers laying Bowie on his legs, "why you so sad, huh?"
Harry runs his fingers gently down Bowie's head brushing against his cheeks lightly.
"Were you so sad for mummy?"Harry whispers bringing his head down so his cheek rests against Bowie's tiny one.
"I missed you so much,"Harry murmurs, "yes. Daddy missed you."
Bowie whimpers about to cry again.
"What about daddy's chest, huh?"Harry asks gently laying Bowie on his chest, "is that better?"
Bowie continues to softly cry as Harry runs his fingers along his back and hums "I Want To Write You a Song" softly.
"It's hard being two months old, huh?"Harry coos giving the top of Bowie's head a kiss.
After twenty minute Bowie's cries finally settle and Harry lays down on the couch with Bowie on his chest. Within minutes they're both asleep.
A sneeze from Bowie wakes Harry up twenty minutes later, but luckily Bowie stays asleep. Harry slowly and gently stands up from the couch, cringing as Bowie stirs a bit at the movement. He quickly settles back into Harry's chest again and Harry walks up the stairs. Harry walks into Bowie's nursery and lays him down in his crib onto his back. Bowie stirs awake blinking up at Harry groggily.
"Shhh shh,"Harry quickly puts a hand on Bowie's tummy to comfort him that he's still there. Bowie's little eyes groggily close again. Relieved, he quietly walks out of the room and down to his bedroom. He quietly opens the door and sees Camryn asleep on her side on the bed. Her mouth is wide open and Auggie is sprawled out on his back on Camryn's arm with his arm laying on Camryn's cheek and his bottle falling out of his other hand. Harry smiles at them quietly, so happy to be home.
Harry tip toes over to Auggie and gently picks him up, resting Auggie's head on his shoulder. August is in such a deep sleep that the movement doesn't even wake him up.
Camryn startles awake as Auggie's removed from her and sits up on her arm a bit confused a groggy, "huh?"
"Shh, baby go back to sleep. I'm just taking Auggie to bed,"Harry whispers turning around to walk out of the bedroom.
Camryn nods and settles back down into bed. Harry walks down the hall and into Lennon and Auggie's shared room. He lays Auggie down in his little bed, kissing his forehead lightly. He places August's bottle on the nightstand next to his bed, incase he wakes up and wants it. Harry walks over to Lennon who's sprawled out on his tummy with one arm hanging off the bed. Harry carefully kisses Lennon's forehead and then shuts the door.
As soon as he gets back into the bedroom, Harry strips down into his briefs and quickly brushes his teeth trying not to make too much noise, not wanting to wake Camryn. He pulls back the covers a bit to climb in the bed next to Camryn.
"Hi,"Camryn mumbles groggily scooting her body closer to Harry's.
"Hi, my love,"Harry whispers hugging her into his bare chest. Her hands rest on his chest as her warm cheek lays against his butterfly tattoo.
"I'm glad you're home,"Camryn murmurs almost to softly for Harry to hear.
"I am too, I missed my babies,"Harry smiles into her hair. Harry puts two fingers under Camryn's chin to bring her lips to his, "especially this baby."
Camryn smiles sleepily into Harry's lips, "you feel so warm."
"You feel cold,"Harry whispers resting his lips against her neck.
"Maybe you should warm me up,"Camryn flirts.
"Don't have to tell me twice,"Harry grins pulling Camryn's body on top of him. Their legs intertwine and Camryn rests her head in the crook of Harry's neck. Her hands find his cheek and trace up and down.
"Goodnight, bub,"Camryn whispers.
"Goodnight snuggles,"Harry replies kissing her cheek.
