Elijah's pov
I arrive in New Orleans, I'm here to get to the bottom of what the conspiracy against Niklaus and Kol is. I know I promised myself and Katerina that I wouldn't bother with Niklaus anymore after he pushed me to my limit but he's still my brother and this involves Kol too so I must find out what's going on and after that I'll leave and head back to Katerina. Yes we're secretly together, we wanted to give things a try but I haven't told anyone about it since I know none of my siblings will approve as they all hate Katerina.
I suddenly feel my phone buzz in my pocket so I pull it out to see Katerina's calling me but I decline the call as I know she will just try and convince me to leave it and come back. She's not exactly thrilled that I left her to go help my brothers but I couldn't just stand by if someone is conspiring against them, they're still my family and I will always protect my family.

I stroll down the street of the French quarter, taking in the beautiful scenery around me. I forgot how wonderful this place was but then again it has been a while since I've been here.
I catch the eye of a tour guide which lovely wavy brown hair and caramel skin. She looks at me and smiles before making her way over to me "well if it isn't Elijah Mikaelson" she says "you know of me?" I ask "of course. Who hasn't heard of you?" she retorts cocking an eyebrow as she folds her arms across her chest.
"I'm guessing you're a witch if you know who I am" I respond "indeed I am, now what brings you to New Orleans?" she asks "I've come here looking for a witch by the name of Jane-Anne Deveroux" I explain and her eyes widen "oh" she mutters so I narrow my eyes "problem?" I ask "well it's just I'm afraid you're a little late" she says making me frown "what do you mean?" I ask before a group of vampires start climbing down from buildings, shouting and wolf whistling.
The witches eyes suddenly widen in panic "you need to hide. He can't see you" she says frantically "who?" I ask confused "Marcel" she replies making my eyes widen in shock "Marcel the vampire?" I ask "the one and only. He's King around here" she says before pushing me to hide in the alleyway.
We stay hidden behind the wall and watch as Marcel jumps down from a car as two vampires drag a woman towards him. "Jane-Anne" he says with a cocky grin as he starts circling her like a predator "Marcel" Jane-Anne spits glaring at him "do you know why you're here?" Marcel asks and the woman shrugs "it beats me" she replies "oh really? Because I know you used magic and you know I know when magic is used in my city" Marcel taunts as the grin on his face grows bigger. "Well it's not true" Jane-Anne insisted and Marcel laughed "you know you can't lie to me Jane-Anne" he says in a smug tone "go to hell Marcel!" Jane-Anne snaps spitting in his face.
Marcel goes silent as he wipes his face before grabbing a vine from one of the vampires surrounding them "Jane-Anne!" a woman yells barging her way through the vampires "Sophie you shouldn't be here" Jane-Anne says "to right I shouldn't but I don't care?!" Sophie snaps back before turning to Marcel. "Let my sister go, she's done nothing!" she demands and Marcel just laughs "your sister was caught using magic and you know magic is a big no no in my city so she needs to be punished" he says as Sophie is grabbed by two vampires. "Let me go!" she yells struggling against their hold.
"Do you know who walked into my bar earlier huh? Klaus and Kol Mikaelson. You wouldn't happen to know why they're back in my city do you?" Marcel questioned "we don't know anything" Sophie replied struggling against the vampires who are holding her back. "Fine" he replies turning to Jane-Anne;
"Jane-Anne Deveroux for your crime of using magic in my city which was not permitted. I hereby punish you with death" Marcel declares "no!" Sophie yells "any last words?" Marcel asks "I hope you rot in hell!" Jane-Anne spits Marcel smiles and turns away before turning back and slashing her throat with the vine he was holding. "No!" Sophie screamed as blood spurt from Jane-Anne's neck as she fell to the ground dead. The vampires let go of Sophie who fell to her knees and went to crawl to her sister "take the body away" Marcel ordered and two vampires picked up Jane-Anne's body. "Stop, what are you doing?!" Sophie asks springing to her feet "removing her from the streets. I can't have the tourists seeing a dead body on the road" Marcel replies "let me take her. She's my sister!" Sophie demands and Marcel chuckles "you may have her if you suddenly remember why Klaus and Kol are back" he replies before vamp speeding away with the other vampires. Sophie lets out a strangled cry as she runs a hand through her hair before walking away.
"Marcel just killed that witch for using magic" I say as I come out of my hiding spot "yes, witches are forbidden from using magic. If we're caught doing magic we get killed as punishment and Marcel keeps the bodies so we can't concentrate the witches" the witch next to me says bitterly. "How does he do it?" I ask "nobody knows how" she answers I turn to her. "What's your name?" I ask "Sabine" she answers "Sabine I'd like to speak with Sophie" I say "you'll find her by Rousseau's, she'll want to talk to you" she explains before starting to leave.
"Wait where are you going?" I ask "you saw what happened to Jane-Anne for using magic. If I'm caught with you I'll be next" she explains before walking away so I leave to find Sophie.

"What? Can't a girl pay her respects to the dead?!" I hear Sophie snap as I near the alleyway. behind Rousseau's. I peer round to see her being cornered by two vampires so I take matters into my own hands and I kill them without revealing my face to them.
"Who's there?" Sophie asks as I dropped one of their hearts before emerging from the shadows, cleaning my hands. "Sophie Deveroux, I believe we have to talk" I say and her eyes widen "Elijah Mikaelson?" she asks suddenly nervous "yes, now I hear your sister was conspiring against my brothers so I need to know what" I say and she scoffs. "My sister hasn't even been dead an hour and you come to me about her cooking up a conspiracy" she says frustrated but I see right through her and I know she knows something.
"you know something so talk before I force it out of you" I threaten making her gulp "fine but not here" she replies blowing out the candles she lit to pay respects to her sister. "Follow me" she says motioning me to follow her so I do.
