After the events at Nate's birthday party. Maddie had reached out to Carter once more for any answer on her mother's whereabouts.
Luckily for Maddie, Carter had found her whereabouts. Her mother was located in Paris and decided it was best to leave now. The semester had just ended and Lily had left to be with CeCe leaving Rufus in charge of the house.
Maddie didn't mind Rufus but just felt it was best to let him look over Jenny and Eric without having to worry about the stranger in his guest bedroom.
Besides Maddie wanted answers and getting away was the only possible way to get them.
She was currently packing up all her belongings for her journey to find her mother.
"Chuck I don't think this is a good time" Rufus said quite louder than normal. Maddie took it as a warning Chuck was once again coming to talk to her. He had tried to stop by over the last month but Maddie hadn't spoken to him.
"Just a minute Rufus please" Chuck begged. His footsteps grew increasingly louder.
"Maddie?"
Maddie ignored Chuck and continued to pack her stuff.
"I have one finally proposition for you. The Empire State Building tonight 7pm. If you come I promise to put you above everything else and treat you the way you want to be treated. If you don't come I'll have my answer" Chuck said before leaving.
Maddie threw the clothes in her hand on to the bed before breaking down. She loved Chuck but she promised herself she wouldn't fall back into his arms the moment he came running. She wouldn't let him play games with her heart.
"Hey Rufus said you were in here" Nate said before turning to face Maddie. He could see she was clearly upset about something.
"Did chuck send you?" Maddie asked.
"No why was he here?" Nate asked.
"So S and B then. Look I'm fine" Maddie said quickly wiping the tears.
"Maddie you're not okay. We are all just concerned about you. This fight it can't be that important, more important than you and Chuck being together" Nate said sitting down on the bed next to Maddie.
"Do you know what he did to get the hotel back?" Maddie asked Nate. She wasn't sure if Chuck has explained it to them or not. She didn't expect Chuck to tell them at all.
"He just told us money talks" Nate said with a laugh.
"He set me up. Used me to get Jack to trade it back. Agreed to the deal of me sleeping with Jack in exchange for the hotel. Even told Jack what to say to lure me. Chuck knew I would do anything for him but that crossed the line" Maddie explained before throwing more of her clothes in the suitcase.
"Nate you can't tell anyone. Not even Chuck"
"I won't... so uh when do you leave?" Nate asked changing the subject.
"My flights at 6 tomorrow morning. I'm not sure when I'll be back"
"Hey" Nate said grabbing Maddie's hand. "If you need any of us. We are here"
"Thank you"
Nate left leaving Maddie alone to finishing packing.
A few hours later she had finished and couldn't help but feel as though she should go meet with Chuck and see what he had to say.
She looked at the clock on the nightstand to see it was 6:45. If she was lucky she could make it.
Maddie ran to the elevator and outside to hail a cab.
"Empire State Building and step on it" Maddie informed the cab driver. The cab driver shook his head and took off for the iconic landmark.
At 7:25 Maddie and pulled up. She threw the man more money than amount required and ran inside. The elevator ride was a minute or two before it stopped at the observation deck.
Maddie looked around to see if Chuck was anywhere in sight.
"Have you seen a man holding Marigolds?" Maddie asked the worker. He remained silent. She walked around to find Marigolds in the garbage. She took them and headed to the Empire Hotel.
After sitting in horrible Manhattan traffic Maddie had arrived at Chuck's. Nervous she rode the elevator up with the flowers in hand.
The doors opened to reveal a quiet and dark penthouse. "Chuck?" She called out afraid he wasn't even home.
"Maddie what are you doing" Chuck said exiting his bedroom.
"What are you doing? Is someone here?" Maddie asked curious as to the strange behavior Chuck was exhibiting.
"No, no one is here. I'm just confused to see you here. Didn't think I would see you ever again" Chuck said. Maddie held up the flowers she retrieved from the garbage.
"You went"
"I was late"
"I waited"
"Extremely late... I didn't think I wanted to go until I finished packing. I couldn't leave without hearing what you had to say" Maddie explained. Chuck smiled.
"Just know that everything was telling me not to go. Everything but my heart. I love you so much that I know we can handle anything cause I love you enough to work on it" Maddie said. Chuck wrapped his arms around Maddie and kissed her.
The two pulled apart still gazing at each other.
"Let me make you a drink" Chuck said guiding Maddie to the bar.
"Before I make the drinks let me get some music playing. The iPod is in my bedroom"
"Chuck we don't need music"
"I want everything to be perfect" he said kissing Maddie once more. As he left for the bedroom Maddie couldn't help but cherish this moment. She had been longing for his kisses and touches.
The feeling of being with him made her feel beyond happy that there wasn't a word to describe it.
"Actually why don't we go celebrate at Butter. Let me change" Chuck called out. A few minutes later and Chuck walked out of room, dressed in his normal attire, a suit.
Maddie smiled hopping off the chair and clinging onto his body.
"I'm cancelling my Paris trip. I'd rather spend the summer with you than go searching for my mother across Europe" Maddie said to Chuck.
The elevator rang and the doors opened. The two climbed in. Maddie internally felt like it was the first time she had kissed Chuck. A million fireworks going off. Her heart had finally healed and forgiven him.
The two walked outside of the building to be met by Dan and Jenny. Dan swings at Chuck knocking him to the ground.
"What are you doing?" Maddie shouted unsure of what had just happened.
"You tell her" Dan threatened.
"Tell me what? What's going on?" Maddie asked looking at the three in front of her. No one dared to look at Maddie and silence filled the air.
Jenny began to cry and Dan looked disgusted at Chuck.
"You didn't?" Maddie said with tears building up.
"Maddie"
"Maddie I'm sorry" Jenny cried out.
"Don't look at me Jenny Humphrey. After these last two months of living together. Me being nice and sisterly to you. This is how you repay me. I'm not a bitch like Blair. I didn't deserve this" Maddie sternly expressed.
"I'm sorry" Jenny cried out once more.
"You don't have anything to be sorry about. This begins and ends with Chuck" Dan interfered.
"You ever step foot in Manhattan again and I will end you. I will make your life a living hell" Maddie threatened.
"Hey who's hunger?" Rufus cheerfully announced carrying a large bag full of bagels. Lily and Serena behind him.
"What's going on?" Lily asked. Jenny began to sob on her father's shoulder and he escorted her to a more private place.
"Hey are you okay?" Serena asked.
"I'm um leaving" Maddie said as she wiped the tears that cascaded down her cheeks.
"Come on I'll explain inside" Dan whispered to Serena.
"I didn't think you loved me and Jenny Humphrey"
"DONT SAY HER NAME" Maddie yelled. "Or anything else to me. I mean it..... you Chuck Bass are dead to me - and don't come looking for me. Those are your favorite words right....." Maddie said before hailing a cab.
Maddie grabbed her luggage at Lily's and headed off to the airport.
