Chapter 41:-
Its been a week now, I come to work, do what I am supposed to do and leave at five. Colton is still not in yet. He is still working from home not resting one bit. Last time I called him he sounded tired and his voice stranded however when I advised him to rest and let me handle. He refused by calling me nosy and told me to stop acting like his mother. Well, I can't help it!! Can I?
As for Alex, I feel like his possessiveness has taken a turn to a new level. Every day he comes to pick me up from my house and then take me home when I am done. He no longer gets out of the car, Well I have to beg him to not do that. Everyone now knows about the kiss.
Gahh the drama I faced when I walked in the next day only to hear Scarlett screaming from the other side of lobby calling me a lucky bitch. She said she knew I looked kinda familiar but she just didn't know how until he saw Alex kiss me that day. I have to beg her to not tell anyone which she promised she won't.
However its safe to say that she is one of the girls who didn't feel like I am a gold digger. She calls us "Relex" apparently that's a ship name and is kinda famous. I didn't know I had a fan group, to be honest until Scarlett showed me one. I have to hold back my curse when she went on and on about how beautiful our love story is and how she always hatted Venessa.
Well, all in all, she knows the fabricated version of the love story about me and Alex, missing out on a big chunk from the real one. But I won't tell them the truth not ever.
Scarlett is also the person who is always nice to me. I am thankful for her company here. I was just getting settled in my seat starting my system today. Its Friday today, I'm kinda excited but a little scared, me and Ryland and Scarlett is going to a club tonight. Ryland forced me in this like a daddy he is becoming.
Seriously, He is all daddy these days for me, even though it's funny but its annoying no less. He walked in here on Wednesday's day when he was nearby claiming he "just wanted to check if I was safe here' and met Scarlett. They became bestie at first sight and now I am paying the price.
I tapped my finger on the table waiting for this god dame computer to finally start. I clicked the CPU start like three times but still its all back.
"Are you serious right now" I groaned in frustration. I think this computer doesn't like me. I pushed my chair back and kneel so I can check the power cable, only to find it unplugged. I think I heard the elevator door open but I ignored it, Clayton would call if is coming back today, Or so I thought. I was under my table trying to plug the dame thing back my ass probably sticking out like a soar thumb.
"Miss Oxford is there any specific reason why you are down there or are you just teasing me by being in that position." I heard Clayton's voice right behind me. It startled me so much making me bang my head on the table making me curse some more. I quickly crawled out coming face to face with Clayton's face. I won't lie I do find him handsome. Who won't, he is 6.2 hight with those steel-gray eyes and lean body, he is "My hunk" no lie.
"So?, what's the answer, Miss Oxford?" Clayton asked looking amused. I blushed when I realize I was still on my knees in front of my boss. I quickly stood up straightening my skirt still blushing making him chuckle.
"Uhh no Mr black I uhh it uhh just the cord" I stuttered feeling embarrassed making him smirk at me. When I looked at his face he had that stupid smirk on his face eyes raised.
"um hmm, okay Miss Oxford whatever you say, but I'm not complaining or anything. if anything I must say I enjoyed my morning view quite well." I narrowed my eyes at his flirtatious comment.
Is he for real? He is flirting with me!! like really! he wasn't doing this a week ago. This wasn't the person who asked me to be his assistant.
"Uhh, you don't look so sick anymore. Maybe that is why the arrogance is outshining your usual Debby downer behavior. Maybe we won't be so much in a backlog if we stop the flirt and get back to work humm" I snorted at him. I was shocked at my comeback but I didn't mind it one bit.
Clayton smiled coming closer to me. "You look good Miss oxford I don't doubt why William hasn't left you behind". With that, he gave me one more look and walked inside the cabin. He stopped before he walks in.
"Oh, by the way, miss oxford I would love my coffee now" with that he went inside. I am still shocked by his statement.
Did he just mentioned Alex! It means he knows who I am? Is this why he didn't want me to work in his finance department. I looked at the clock finding it ticking close to half-past nine. I bit my lip contemplating the idea of going in and ask him what he meant with his last word or should I take his coffee and avoid him on all accord.
I finally decided on option two and quickly made my way to the pantry. I quickly made him a coffee and made my way back to his cabin. Knocking at his door I walked in, placing the coffee on his desk, I was about to make a quick exit.
"Miss Oxford would you please get me this file" I heard Clayton say. I looked up but he looked like he is way to busy. He pushed a slip forward and his eyes went back to his computer. I mumbled a small "yes" and took hold of the file name. "Investment 785" is all it says.
I walked out toward the file room and quickly grab the file. It was an old dusty file and this room sucked. I don't know why they have this file room when we can store all these in computer drive making it easy for bookkeeping, but who am I to compliant!! I'm not the CEO!!.
I walked back quickly handover the file and made my way toward my room desk. I turned it on finally starting my work. The rest of the day was quite a un event full. I worked and completed all of it around four. I was waiting for the clock to hit five so I can go home. I heard the elevator ping and walked in Scarlett with a charming smile.
"Are you ready for a good Friday" she chipped making me chuckle. She looked good with her hair in an updo. Elegant but sexy. "We still have fifteen-minute," I said making a face that caused her smile to drop.
"Oh, hush. Don't rain on my parade." She dropped her purse on my desk leaning on my desk. She started talking about this new club we will be going to and how excited she is. I was just typing some last-minute notes on my notepad engrossed in my work. We both didn't hear Clayton's door open and his arrival.
"Oh my god, I wish I could find someone to go home with tonight" She keeps on going until we heard Clayton clear his throat.
She stilled and I quickly looked up. I saw Scarlett face turn all red, I wanted to laugh at her face, no wonder her parents named her Scarlett and looked back at Clayton. I raised my brows at him.
"Is there anything I can help you with Mr. Black?" I asked. He gave an amused look to Scarlette who still is looking at me not moving an inch.
"Well nothing as of now, I'm heading out Miss oxford. I will see you on Monday. Before he leaves he turned toward Scarlett.
"Miss Jensen I hope you do have a nice weekend" with that he left. My eyes met Scarlette her face looked so red that I just couldn't help but laugh at her misery. She glared at me.
"Oh, you should have warned me about it" She whisper yelled. I was still smiling. "How could I? I was focused on these notes. You were the one talking about banging a guy, not my fault" I said quickly completing them. I shove them in a locker and shut down my system. I blew Scarlett a flying kiss before I stood up from my seat and we both made out way to the elevator.
The moment we were out I walked toward her car. I requested Alex driver to not come today. As Alex out of the city off to some conference, it was easy evading his driver. Scarlett dropped me off at my house and told me to be ready before nine.
The moment I was inside my apartment I found Ryland waiting for me. He Fixed me a small meal and already had my outfit plan. I was so thankful for Ryland because without him I probably would have taken longer to dress up and probably skipped the food, but like I said he is acting all daddy on me these days and it does have some perks.
After eating I took a nice shower and shampooed. After that Ryland helped me with makeup and hair. He is the best in all these things. We talked for a bit I told him about my day and the awkward encounter with Clayton to which he laughed and said "He is totally into you, I know it" I shrugged my shoulders at that. At sharp nine Scarlette arrived and we made our way to the club. I Knew nine was still early to be in the club but I don't care.
I wore a black dress with a very plunging neckline. I look sleek and I feel sexy. Ryland wore a simple black shit and some ripped jeans and Scarlett wore a blue mini dress with a sweetheart neckline. We all made our way inside. The first shots were by Ryland to get us started and then it was on.
Drinks after the drink I was enjoying. I felt amazing and free and happy. Soon after I and Scarlett hit the dance floor. We were dancing and dancing until I felt someone's eyes on me. I slowly looked around and found Clayton on the first floor. Sitting on the couch I felt his gaze burn my skin. I didn't like it a bit so I made a small excuse and walked back to the bar to get me another drink.
While I waited for my drink I felt him again. His gaze. For some reason, I new he is right behind me but what I didn't know was someone else was also coming toward me.
"So what are you doing here Miss Oxford" I didn't have to look back so I didn't.
"I didn't know I should tell you my out of work escapade Mr black," I said. He came forward-leaning next to me. When turning my face to right there he sits on the next chair looking at me. He wore a simple black suit. I snorted at the suit.
"Don't you think this place is less formal for you to be wearing a suit?" I asked. I wasn't thinking what I was saying but I think my words made him chuckle. I continued to sip in my drink.
"Don't you think this place is too dangerous for a woman to be wearing a dress like that Pulchra Lena" He said making me choke on my drink. A frown took over my face when I look at him.
I didn't understand the last word but I don't think I need to. I felt a burning gaze right behind me and the voice, I didn't have to know the name to figure out his voice.
"Would you like to repeat your words black?" I heard his iceberg chilling voice and gulped
(Oh boy I was so dead) this was my inner intuition. I felt Alex came closer. I quickly glance at Clayton. For a moment I thought I must be delusional but one look more and I found Clayton smirking at Alex. I don't know why but that smirk was enough to send a chill down my back.
Alex's hand went around my waist giving me a peck on the cheek. It was rough. I knew I won't like what was coming next.
"Why not Mr. William, I think its no offense in appreciating gods' work, and Miss oxford is no doubt beautiful." Clayton muster. I blushed but my anxiety increased when I felt Alex's hand became a fist.
"Is that the reason why you thought making her your Assistant would be better?" Alex asked Clayton. "Or is it because you still hate Venessa chose me over you?" I gasp. My stomach hit the bottom of its pit.
Shit shit shit shit Not again.

So this week or should I say yesterday I watch the whole last season of 13 reasons why season 4. I won't drop any clue. Sorry for that but darn I must say I wasn't expecting it to be this powerful.
