I'm walking at the hallway heading to the mess hall then I can see the door of Levi's office. Suddenly the door of his office swung open revealing Levi himself.
"Good morning Captain" I greet him but still in my stoic face then I salute at him
"Same goes to you Scarlet" Levi replied as he close the door of his office.
Levi join me on walking towards the mess hall. Levi look at me so I give him a questioning look.
"Where did you get that scar?" Levi ask curiously
"Oh, you mean this?" I ask referring to the scar at my neck
"Yeah, looks like someone wants to slit your throat that you have a scar like that" Levi said
"I don't remember how I get this scar and I already have this since I was a kid" I said while trying to remember something
'It's true though, I don't remember how I get this scar '
"I see" Levi only answer
There is a long silence and it's getting a little bit awkward so I decided to start a conversation.
"I wonder if Eren have a good night sleep, but since Hanji have a nonstop talking about Titans, I bet Eren is still awake until now" I start
"How did you know about Hanji's obsession on Titans? You even warn Jeager last night" Levi ask but still his eyes on the way
"A friend of mine used to talk about Hanji every time she visits" I answer but in my mind that 'Friend' refers to me
"Who?"
"I don't know her name, she covers her face with a piece of cloth and always wear a hood and she even said She used to be a part of a scout.
Levi stop on his tracks then he grab the collar of my jacket
"Tell me!! Where the hell is she now?!! He suddenly shouts at me
"Captain, calm down, I don't know where she is because she always travel and never stay in one place " I said in calm voice as I place both of my hands on his shoulder
"So she is still alive?" He look directly at my eyes and I can tell he is anxious.
"What do you mean? of course she's alive!" I said like it's obvious
Levi slowly let go of me.
"I'm glad, I thought she died" Levi muttered
"Captain!!!!!" A cadet run towards us then salute at Levi
"What is it? First thing in the morning" Levi said in monotone voice
"The test subjects! Both of them were killed"
.....Timeskip......
"It looks like they didn't find any soldiers who've used their Maneuver Gear without permission, then who did it?" Gunther said while Eld is drinking
"No idea...... Right now, I'm more worried about the upcoming ceremony" Eld answered "How many among the new troops will be crazy enough to join us?"
"Hey, Eren!Marygold! Are there any in your class who will request to join us?" Gunther ask us
"There are." Eren answered while feeding the horse then he look away "No, there were, I don't know about now"
"Actually Eren, most of our friends will join the scouts" I say sternly then look at him "After what happen back at Trost they realised something and change their decision"
Soon Levi arrived on his horse so Gunther and Eld salute at him.
"Get ready. We're going out on patrol" Levi announced
"Yes sir!" Both Gunther and Eld answered
Eren and I run towards Levi then salute at him
"Good morning, Captain Levi!" Eren greets
"Listen, Eren. Never fall two horse lengths behind me. Don't forget that the only reason you're not locked up is because I'm watching you" Levi said reminding Eren
"Yes, sir!"
"Let's go."
Four of us went to the stables to get our horses. Then we ride on our horses together with Levi to patrol. After our patrol we went back to the castle to have lunch.
"Ah, I miss Veronica's insults" I say while chewing my bread
Eren laugh loudly at what I said causing Levi, Eld, and Gunther to look at our direction. Eren cleared his throat then look at me.
"How could you miss Veronica's insults?" Eren asked curiously
"Oh come on! It's because she insults me everyday that I'm getting used to it, it's like her insults are like sweet words to me" I said then finish what I'm eating then rest my head on the table
"You're an odd one" Eld said then chuckle
"Does that mean Oluo's insults are like sweet words to you?" Gunther ask curiously
"Nope, he's different, and I know the reason why he said that" I said still my head rested on the table
"Really! Then why?" Eren ask
"It's because he doesn't trust my skills" I said it like it's nothing then rest my back at the chair "I mean, there are many veteran soldiers here who wants to be in this squad but it's not easy to get in, but me.... I'm not even one of the top 10 but I got in this squad easily" I pause then look at them "Even you guys... I know you didn't trust me either, just admit it"
"No, we didn't think of you that way" Gunther denied
"Yeah, Erwin can't just pick someone to be a part of Squad Levi if they have a low skill" Eld followed
"Yeah you're right, Erwin can't just pick someone if he didn't really trust his/her skill" I said then look at Eld "But Erwin knows me well and how good I am especially in Maneuver Gear and hand to hand combat. That's the reason why he wants me in this squad and the other reason is....."
"Is what Mary?" Levi butt in while resting his back on the chair
Silence filled the room since everyone's waiting for my answer.
"The other reason is... He wants me to apologize to my friend here who I left behind seven years ago" I finally say as I look at Levi deep in his eyes
"What?" Eren ask in background
"Kidding" I only said then look away but their eyes still glued at me "By the way..... Can I go to town Captain?"
Levi drink his tea in an odd fashion way then look at me
"I'm going to town anyway, our cleaning supplies are running out so you can go with me." Levi answer then place his tea cup on the table "As long as you're not being a brat"
The door of the Mess Hall swung open revealing Oluo looking like a sh*t.
"I just finished cleaning the stables" Oluo said while panting
"Did you learn your lesson?" Levi ask
"Yes....Captain"
"Then apologize to her" Levi ordered Oluo
I can feel Oluo's gaze at me. Now I can see a shadow so I turned my head and I can see Oluo with a guilt expression
"Marygold, I apologize for my childish behavior yesterday I hope you will forgive me" Oluo apologized
There's a long silence and everyone's looking at me, waiting for my answer. I stand up with a serious face and I can tell Oluo's nervous. I place my other hand on his shoulder
"Don't worry I don't hold grudges, I already forgive you" I only said then walk to the door
An idea popped in my head so I look back at them.
"By the way I think I can prove something to all of you that I'm not as bad as you think "
Everyone look at me while I grab a dagger from my boots. I only look at them as I throw my dagger at the corner of the room.
"Are you blind or did you do something that makes you look stupid?" Levi ask curiously
"Um captain, she is actually good at aiming, I don't know what she is targeting but I bet her dagger hit something, Mary never miss a target" Eren reminding them
"Thanks Eren" then I open the door
"You're welcome mom" Eren said then grin
A tick mark appear on my forehead as I heard what he called me
"Eren..... How many times did I tell you don't call me Mom!!!!" I scowl
"Sorry Ma'am!!!" Eren said nervously
"Good" Then I left the mess hall
Levi's Pov.
After Mary left, the Jeager brat sigh. Eld go at the corner of the room to see what did Mary's dagger hit.
"Um guys.....I think you should see this" Eld says nervously
My squad go to Eld but since curiosity is taken over me, I left my seat and follow them. And I'm shock on what I see just know.
"I told you guys she never miss a target!" Eren exclaim
"B-but how? I remember when she threw her dagger, she is looking at us" Oluo says while looking at Mary's dagger "Even if she looks at her target with that distance it's not that easy to hit a............................. cockroach"
