JOSH AND I spend the rest of the day doing everything one could at a carnival. There were rides and food, which really made my day.
It started off just us hiding from Lucas but then it became fun. As we approached a stand at the carnival near the beach, we heard a few camera's shudder.
Shit
If people saw pictures of us, we'd be screwed for sure.
Josh cursed under his breath and quickly grabbed my arms to pull me in his car. He drives off fast to my house to avoid them. I managed to stay away from their sight for so long, but now everything was crumbling down.
Josh and I made it home a short while after, and he walked me to my door.
"Ness," he says and I nod to look up to him.
"You like me, just admit it," he says as a smirk rises to his face.
The nerve of this guy!
"Don't expect us to get along, you've already made quite an impression," I say as he steps closer to me.
"Oh don't worry, I know how to change that," he cups my cheeks and I can feel the butterflies.
"I can tell how nervous you get around me," he says and quickly pecks my cheek.
"I'll be seeing you more often, Janessa" he says and walks backwards smirking at me.
Why did he make me feel this way?!
I enter my house and see Luke smirking coming out to me. He is about to grab me when my words stopped him.
"Luke, the paparazzi saw us," I say quietly.
"Shit," he said.
"Ness, How? You've always been the best at avoiding them." He says.
That wasn't even the worst part
"I was with Josh," I say.
"What! They saw you and Josh!" He says with a shocked look.
"Look Ness, I know your smart about this, but I need you to think, did they get any clear picture?" He asks.
"I only heard the camera after Josh realized they were there and pulled me out of their view, so no I don't think so," I reply.
"Do you think they'll spare Josh? I mean his dad's company and all?" I ask.
"I don't know Ness, hopefully they didn't capture a picture, because it's far worse for him than for you," he says and I nod.
Soon, I head upstairs to go in my room, and get comfortable. After I change into a oversized hoodie and joggers, I get in my bed and start surfing Netflix to see what to watch.
I heard a knock on my door and waited for the person to come in. It was Luke with a large bowl of popcorn and two drinks.
"I'm sorry for being tough on you Ness," he says and I nod.
"I get it, it was careless," I reply.
"So scoot on over, and put on grown ups please," he says and I smile.
Lucas and I could watch grown ups all we wanted, one of my favourite movies.
We continued the night laughing at every small scene and finally when the movie ended, I felt sort of sleepy.
"K well, goodnight Ness," he says.
"Goodnight Lukey," I say not in my senses due to how sleepy I was.
"I'm only letting it slide because you're having a rough day," he says and with that, he left my room.
I closed my eyes to finally get some sleep.
{the next morning}
I wake up to the blinds being opened to unleash sunlight on my face.
"What the—" I say but get interrupted.
"Get up Ness!" He says and I roll my eyes.
"It's so early! Why?" I ask.
"Well for starters, it's 12:30 which is not early, so get up before I splash water on your face!" He says.
I take that as a cue to get up because Lucas would definitely do something like that.
"Why are you dressed like your about to go rob a bank?" I ask.
"Well we are going for a spy day!" He says excited.
"What do you mean?" I ask.
He throws my black jeans, black tube top, and black zip up jacket. He also throws me a black beanie and I quickly get dressed.
"So who are we spying on?" I ask.
"No not necessarily a person, we'll just avoid that papz and have a good day," he says.
"Sure thing, but what will we be doing?" I ask.
"Well you know how you wanted to see that boutique? But there were too many cameras there?" He asks and I nod eagerly.
I had designed a few dresses for them a couple weeks ago but never go to see it or how well it was selling, no matter how badly I wanted to. Luke, Jenna and Kylie were the only ones to know, not even my parents because unless I was dressing up for a big event, they wouldn't care.
"Well sattle up because we are going!" He says.
"Luke! Wearing black won't allow us to do that!" I say and he rolls his eyes.
"I know, this is for us to go to get new wigs," he says and I laugh as though he was crazy.
"Wigs? Are you crazy? That's not going to work!" I say.
"Come on," he says pulling me out the house and dragging me to his car.
We finally reach there and quickly transform. Not going to lie, it wasn't horrible.
We finally made it to the boutique and saw my dresses. People were hoarding around and I couldn't help but smile.
They kept talking about how badly that wanted it and I felt so happy. People actually liked my work and I was so glad what I put so much time in, was being enjoyed by people!
Luke was quick to see my smile and pulled me over to my collection.
"Wow Ness... they never talk about how well your doing, it's always about—" I cut him off.
"You joining the business," I complete his sentence.
I tried not to let it get to me, because I was always happy for Luke and how much success he got.
But just this once, I wanted my parents to notice me for how I can work, and not how I dress.
"We should go, before they realize it's us," I say clearing my throat.
"But Ness—" I interrupt him.
"I'll just be a minute, you can wait in the car." I say.
