Somewhere else in Rio, a plane had just landed at a private airstrip that was already surrounded by police.

"Alright, listen up. The men we're after are professional runners. They like speed and guaranteed to go down the hardest possible way, so make sure you got your funderwear on. We find 'em, we take 'em as a team, and we bring 'em back. And above all else, we don't ever ever let them get into cars." Luke Hobbs told his five man team as they stepped off the plane. "Crime scene's 10 hours old and counting, men. Let's get huntin'."

Four of the men go to get the armored vehicles and gear as the other follows Hobbs, handing over two folders, as an Rio officer walks over to them. "Agent Hobbs. Chief of Police Joe Alemeida."

"Luke." Hobbs didn't even glance up as Alemeida looked over. "Sorry to hear about the loss of your men." Then he glanced back at the armored vehicles that they brought, "Is all this really necessary to apprehend two men?"

Hobbs closed the folder and looked up, "Let me tell you something about these two men. One's a former federal officer, been in deep cover for five years, knows every way you're gonna come for him. The other one's a professional criminal, escaped prison twice, spent half his life on the run avoiding folks like you."

"Oh. Well, if there is anything we can do to help the DSS-" Joe began, and Hobbs cut him off. "Two things. One, I need a translator."

"Claro. We have plenty in the public relations department-"

"Elena Neves." Hobbs, once again, cut him off while passing over the file, which the chief opens and reads over in confusion. "A patrol officer?"

"You heard me." Hobbs nodded, causing the chief to shake his head. "Why? We have many more experienced people."

"I like her smile." He deadpans, clearly being sarcastic, so Joe then sighs and stopped walking. "What's the second thing?"

Hobbs turned to face him. "Stay the fuck out of my way."

Then he begins walking again, looking towards the newest and youngest agent on his team. "Jones, keep watch here. I've got a stop to make."

Dean Hernandez had just finished closing up his shop and sent Scott out to get some food, when he heard something behind him. The man was about to reach for the gun behind his back, but then he heard the very familiar voice of his ex partner. "Seems like you took the whole low profile thing to a different level."

Dean let out a humorless chuckle as he shook his head and turned to look. "I'd say it was nice to see you, Hobbs, but I'm not sure that this is just a friendly visit."

Hobbs just crossed his arms over his chest, a folder in one of his hands. "I need you, Hernandez."

"I'm retired." Dean shrugged as he then moved over to begin working on the engine of a truck, but Hobbs moved over and shut the hood before placing the folder down for the man across from him. Dean just looked at the folder before stepping back with his hands up and a shake of his head, a forced grin on his lips as he then moved over to the mini fridge by the desk. "Want a beer?"

"You've heard about those killed DEA agents." Hobbs said, as Dean took out a beer and opened it as he then turned back around and leaned against the desk, taking a sip before nodding. "And they've got you huntin' the group responsible, huh?" Hobbs just nodded, so Dean chuckled with a shake of his head. "Then I feel bad for them, but I don't see what you'd come here for."

Hobbs just picked up the folder and moved over to him, "These guys are professional criminals."

"I already told you, I'm-" Dean began to say again, but Hobbs cut him off. "I'm not askin' you to go undercover. I'm askin' you to be my partner for one last case to hunt down these goddamn bastards, then I'll leave you alone."

Dean just gave him a short nod, "Or I can just disappear again."

"We never lost you. Just kept our distance." Hobbs admitted without hesitation, earning a look from Dean, but then Hobbs handed the folder back to him. "But... some new light has been shed on the unsolved case." That finally got Dean's attention and when he looked up at Hobbs, the bigger man nodded. "Help me gets these dickheads, and I'll give you everything we've got on her murder."

Dean finally put his beer down and took the folder, opening it up and briefly flipped through the papers that explained the people they were after, which was answer enough for Hobbs. "You can study up on the ride. You've got five minutes to get ready."

Dean closed the folder with a glance up at him, watching as Hobbs then left, making Dean then sigh and looked back at the folder. He put it down and took another drink of the beer, before he then looked at the ring that he never took off.

If all he had to do to get the information about his wife's murder, was to help Hobbs catch some cops killers... He had to do it. Besides, how hard could it be?
