Chapter 56- Library Encounter
16th March, Friday
Victoria
I am going to study. I am going to study. I kept chanting the same line in my head while heading towards the library. Today, I was going to study by myself in the library since Erica and Avery were pretty occupied with their own stuff.
It’s not that I can’t study alone, it’s just that I can’t STUDY ALONE. You know what I mean, its like when you study at home by yourself, everything just seems a lot more interesting even a speck of dust. You get super restless and you’re hungry at least half of the time and spend the other half searching for food in the fridge. So I thought, why not study in the library? At least maybe some of the studious atmosphere might get me to study.
I walked in and immediately went to browse through some assessment books the school library had since I forgot to bring mine. I picked out the one I wanted and just as I turned towards the area where students sat to study….
I saw them.
Both of them.
SHIT. Oh my freaking- turn around Victoria. Turn around, walk away. I was silently praying that they don’t recognize me. Please don’t, please don’t.
“Hey, Victoria!”
Fuck. I turned around and faked a smile,” Hi Sophie! Andrea… Didn’t see you there.” Yeah right. “What are you doing here?”
Sophie smirked,” What’s it look like I’m doing?” Oh right, studying. Seriously Victoria, that was such a dumb thing to say! “I suppose, you are here to study as well?” Sophie asked.
I eyed at the books I was carrying and looked back at her,” Yeah! You know… never too early to prepare for mid-terms!” Yeah right, mid-terms was 2 months away. Okay that isn’t really early but it is to me!
Sophie smiled,” I like that attitude. How about you join us for a study session together?” I looked at Andrea, whom I almost forgot she was there, sitting down there with both her legs up on the table fiddling with her phone then back to Sophie.
With two B5 members, well technically one offering me to study with them, how could I say no? “Yeah sure. “ I agreed, grabbing one the chairs next to Sophie and placed my books on the table. I didn’t even look at Andrea diagonally across me because if I do, all the memories from the bonding camp and all that would rush back to my head and I’ll just faint.
I was about to open my book when I noticed the books Sophie had on the table and realized she had like 10 books all piled up around her and the book that she’s on right now is Advanced Calculus. I looked at mine. Physics for Beginners. What the fuck. Now I feel stupid.
Okay concentrate Victoria. Don’t think that the smartest student is sitting next to you and making you feel super inferior and dumb as fuck plus a senior that you have kissed before as a dare sitting opposite you. Just concentrate.
I opened my book and looked at the first question. HAHA, I can’t do it. Yup I am THAT BAD at Physics. Come on Victoria! This is JUST the first question. Keep calm. I’m sure I can figure this shit out. I looked at the notes they gave and realized that I don’t understand ANYTHING at all. Fuck I need help.
I glanced at the two people sitting around me. No I shouldn’t ask them. I need to learn independently. But I really don’t know how to do…. I feel like getting out of here and just go home. Okay you know what? I’m going to ask them. The question is… who?
Just as I was comtemplating on who to ask, Sophie suddenly said," You know, if you need help you could ask either of us." What? It's as if she read my mind. Okay I'll ask...
But Sophie seems busy. Sigh… then there’s no choice. “Hey Andrea…” I asked.
She peeled her eyes away from her phone almost reluctantly, ”What?”
I pushed the book in front of her. “ You take Physics don’t you? Do you know how to do this question?” I said. Oh my goodness, I know I shouldn’t have done this but I’m desperate.
Fuck it. Anyway, what do I have to lose? Plus Andrea’s a senior so she must be pretty smart. Right?
Andrea finally put her phone away and looked at the question. “Ummm…” she started to say. Why do I feel like she’s never seen this question before?
Andrea cleared her throat,” Well the answer is….99.”
Andrea:
“What?” Victoria asked.
“The answer is 99.” I repeated. She doesn’t look too convinced.
Victoria scrunched up her eyebrows,” Really? How do you get it?”
Fuck. I really don’t know how I got that. Yes I admit, I fucking suck at Physics and can’t she tell that I don’t have that “study” face like Sophie? I’m a complete opposite I tell ya’!
And you know, I could’ve told her I suck as well but no, my ego was too big and I just didn’t want to look dumb as hell. Now I’m regretting it. “Well, you just take this number and you add this number and minus this number and you get it. I mean the line’s going up so the speed is obviously increasing so it would make sense if the acceleration increased as well. Right?” I said, trying to sound sure. Fuck no I wasn’t. What the fuck am I even talking about?
Victoria huffed,” But… that’s not what it says in the notes. In a speed-time graph, if the line increases it means the speed is accelerating in a constant motion. “
What? “Really? Well… maybe there’s a miscalculation on my part. Check again.” I said. Way to go, Andrea. Bullshitting this entire thing like you actually know this shit.
We’re not going anywhere with this. An idiot asking an even idiotic idiot for help is obviously the worst decision ever. “The answer’s 117.”
Both of us turned to look at Sophie. Sophie looked up, “Check.” Victoria did and she nodded her head,” It is the correct answer. How do you get that?”
” Well needless to say, I actually am knowledgeable of the subject unlike some people who try to act like they do when they don’t.” Sophie smiled, eyeing at me. Yeah obviously she was talking about me. “Let me explain.”
I rolled my eyes. Okay whatever my job is done. Now let me get back to my game. We continued this for a while until Victoria slammed her book on the table and exclaimed,” I give up! Forget it. There’s no way I’ll get this shit. Fuck this useless shit that don’t even matter in life.”
Sophie chuckled to herself and shook her head. Wow. What a vocabulary. “Hey what are you playing?” Victoria asked me.
I tensed up. Darn it. If she finds out whatever game I’m playing, she’ll laugh. I shrugged,” Nothing you know just some… game.”
“What is it?” Victoria asked.
I was hesitating what to say when she grabbed my phone from my hand. FUCK NO! Victoria looked at it and laughed. Yup, I knew it. Fuck my reputation is ruined. “Farmville?” Victoria said in giggles. I rolled my eyes and snatched my phone away from her. “ Yeah I like it. I like to farm….” I mumbled.
Victoria giggled and said,” I play that too! Add me!” She took her phone and started playing as well. I took in surprise,” Oh great! Could you help me with my crops? I forgot to harvest them and I need help in doing that.”
We started playing and comparing games that we both played. Turns out, we have a lot games we play in common. Haha wow, a girl gamer. That’s pretty cute. Wait what? Me finding a Victoria cute? Well… to be honest yeah.
Looking at her long dirty blonde hair and lovely dark green eyes, she is pretty cute. Damn. If she wasn’t a junior, I’d date her. I did not just say that.
“Well guys, I gotta go. Can’t be out too late. See you around!” Victoria waved. Sophie and I waved back. I watched her as she walked away. “Not checking her out are you?” Sophie asked with an eyebrow raised.
I scoffed,” Psht! What?! No. “ Sophie continued to look at me. I gulped and went back to my game. My heart was beating nervously. Why am I feeling this way? I’m not falling for Victoria, am I?
Yeah right. She’s a junior! I shook my head. There is no way I am falling for Victoria. Although I have to admit, she is kinda cute.
Victoria:
As soon as I reached home, I threw my bag on the floor and laid back on the bed. I smiled and I recalled today’s events. Haha so Andrea turned out to be really… dumb. But she’s one of the few that I know who seems to be interested in the sort of games I like to play.
I giggled to myself as I remembered one of the jokes Andrea told me. She’s such a funny person. Omg, I sound like a lovestruck little girl. I’m so not. Just then, my phone vibrated. It was a text from Andrea. I immediately got up and read the text.
I sent u a gift. Send me one back :P
Oh she did? Immediately, I logged onto my game. Heh. So she did. I smiled and sent her one back. I laid back down and smiled to myself. Why am I smiling to myself? Do I like Andrea? Hell no!
I ain’t no lesbian! But she seems pretty cool…. And so damn popular. I wonder how Erica could talk to her. You know how you’d feel nervous when you talk to someone who’s more prettier or more popular than you? Yeah that is kind of how I feel when I talk to Andrea.
But I don’t like her. I just think she’s cool. Yeah. And that’s just how it is going to be. Just like that.
