Kenny's heart dropped and rose in his throat at the same time. He couldn't breathe and everything was blurry except for the small little boy in front of him, the blood dripping from his eye, and the ninja star he had thrown. Kenny had done this. Kenny had hurt Butters. Tears filled Leos eyes as he stood there in shock, his slight swaying enough to make Kenny sprint to his side, catching him before he fell and cradling him in his arms. " Buttercup fuck, im so sorry, oh my god" Kenny spluttered through his own tears that were forming as Butters began to cry loudly when the pain hit him. " Oh shit dude" Cartman said shocked as he realised that if Butters turned up with a weapon in his eye they were all grounded. "Butters! Oh my God! Oh, dude! It's stuck in his eye! " Stan said inspecting the wound from a safe distance. They gathered around the two boys. " What the hell did you do that for, Kenny?! " Kyle shouted, his tone sounding merely annoyed. " I.. I didn't me-" Kenny coughed through tears while listening to his best friends cries. " Oh man! We are in serious trouble!" Kyle began, before Kenny snapped at him. " THATS ALL YOU FUCKING CARE ABOUT. LEO IS HURT AND YOU'RE JUST THINKING ABOUT YOURSELVES. GET AWAY FROM HIM. " He screamed, making his friends step back defensively. "Guys, meeting over here for a second? " Eric said through gritted teeth, dragging Stan and Kyle with him so that they were out of earshot, leaving Kenny with Leo curled up in his arms. " It hurts ken! " Butters sobbed loudly, his doey blue eyes staring into Kennys. Even filled with tears they were the most beautiful things Kenny had ever seen, he just wished with all of his heart that one didn't have a shirikun lodged in it. " Shhh.. Its okay Leo, just breathe" He said gently, stroking the boys soft blonde hair in an attempt to calm him down. "But I... But I... But I can't see nothin'. I gotta go to the hospital! " Butters sniffled, making Kenny's chest heavy with guilt. " Hey its okay butterfly, I'll take you to the hospital, you're going to be okay, everything's okay. " He replied calmly in a hushed voice, that seemed to steady Leos breathing. " Butterfly, I like it when you, call me that. " Leo said through sniffles as he held back the larger tears that stung his eye more than it already was stinging. " Okay then Butterfly, you ready to start moving? We gotta get you to your parents. " Kenny said gently, the panic he was hiding and concern for his friend strong enough to stop the blush that threatened to cover his face. Butters nodded slowly as Kenny lifted him up bridal style, the way that the small boy clung to his neck filling his chest with a strange warmness. " Woah Kenny where are you going dude" Eric asked fearfully, walking back over to the pair. " Im taking him home so that his parents can take us to the hospital. " Kenny stated in a stern voice. " No Kenny thats fucking dumb, his parents see a star in his eye they're gonna know we we're playing with weapons, how long do you think until they tell our parents? " Eric said. " Do you honestly think that I give a crap? Butters needs a doctor. " Kenny said, attempting to walk away before Cartman grabbed his arm tightly. " look Kenny I know your family is poor so they won't care, but me Stan and Kyle? We're litterally dead if our mums find out. " Kenny ripped his arm from Eric and began walking away with a scowl plastered to his face. Kyle, Stan and Eric shared a look of fear, before following the pair hesitantly. " Come on Kenny.. You know if we take him to the hospital, they're gonna find out what happened" Kyle pleaded. "Whoa, I'm getting woozy. " Butters groaned from Kennys arms, making the other blonde feel sick to his stomach. " Its okay Leo, you're gonna be fine, Kenny's got you" He said, earning a weak smile. "Shut up, Butters " Eric snapped, before turning to
Stan. " Stan, you got any idea's on how to stop this fucker ruining our lives? " " How about we take him to the vet? " Stan suggested, making Kenny stop walking. " Here's how it's gonna happen, I take the blame, I deal with the consequences, you three go back to being shitty people and Leo gets the help he needs, got it? " He said firmly, making it very clear that his mind was made up. " Whatever dude it's your ass" Stan grumbled, pulling Kyle away with him. " Whatever, this has been too much stress for one day, so as long as I dont have to deal with the consequences, screw you guys, im going home. " Eric chimed, pulling out a bag of cheesy poofs and stuffing a handful into his mouth before stomping off towards his house. Kenny took a deep breath and forced his legs towards Leos house as fast as he could, ignoring the sharp pain shooting in his side from running so fast. The whole way to Butters home he was whispering soothing words that reassured the small boy, and even if they meant that Kennys aching lungs were left screaming for oxygen when they stopped, he needed to say them. He had to do everything he could to make Leo okay, even if it hurt him. He slammed open the door and screamed to Mrs Stotch who was sitting on the sofa. " CALL AN AMBULANCE" His voice came out hoarse and he was pretty sure he was surviving purely on adrenaline as he desperately tried to make sure Leo would be ok. " BUTTERS! YOU ARE SO GROUNDED! " Kenny heard Leos dad shout before his vision started to go dim and his knees hit the floor with a crack. The noises around him melted into one long droning note as his eyes began to close, and the last thing he felt was someone take Leo from his arms and then the cold hard floor hitting his own face as he collapsed from exhaustion. Leo was going to be okay.
