You and Arthur have been dating a year, and you usually came to visit him, but that day he was coming late due to work.
You decided to help Arthur's mother, Penny, since he was work. You had an idea to go over to the kitchen and make a meal for Arthur and his mother.
"Y/n dear can you help me with something please?" Penny asked
"Of course" I replied as I made my way towards her bedroom.
She was sitting on the desk, starring down at an empty sheet of lined paper with only a pen in her hand
"What do you need help with?"
"Can you write this letter for me please, I can't move my fingers that well, every time I get down to writing my hand just begins to shake everywhere, it's like it had a life of its own"
I giggled
"Don't worry I'll help you"
I sat on the chair next to her and had received the pen from Penny
"I'll tell you what to write"
"Okay" I smiled
"Write dear"
I nodded and wrote dear
"Change it to dearest"
"Alright"
"Now write Thomas"
"Okay I've written Dearest Thomas"
"Now next write there is a definite possibility that I will die soon as I have been very sick lately. It is for this reason that I am writing you another letter now"
"W-What do you mean?" I gasped
"Honey I'll explain this just write this down"
I nodded my head and wrote exactly how she demanded me too.
"Write this, as you well know I love you very much. Over the past seven months I've sent you dozens of letters in the faint hope that you would get back to me. I honestly did not wish to bother you over the years because I know how much pain and suffering our love has caused for both of us."
I was curious but I respected that she wanted to explain herself after this
"Next write, I realise this might open me up to ridicule but I need your help. Your son and I need your help"
I frowned in confusion, I looked over at Penny
"S-son?"
"Y/n I'll explain it to you later" she sighed
I nodded
"Next, I'll admit to you that the reason I'm asking is because my living conditions are so dire and I have no insurance or opportunities for any future."
I continued hitting that down too
"Thomas, you are the only hope for me and your son. Arthur is a good boy. Maybe a little sad, but a good boy none the less. I think you would be proud of the job I've done with him, and how happy he is most of the time.
"And Thomas, I'm asking you to please look into your good heart and at least give us something so we can better our station, and become the kind of people you could love and respect. I love you forever, Penny Fleck"

I wrote that all down word by word and handed it to Penny Fleck.
She folded it neatly and thanked me as she placed it into the envelope
"So what was that all about?" I asked a I took a deep breath in
Penny began fiddling around with her fingers
"Thomas Wayne is Happys father"
"Yeah I figured that but I'm guessing he has no idea?" I asked
"No he doesn't know, he'd kill me"
"No way Arthur can never get angry to that point" I giggled
Penny gave me a serious look
"Can he?" I asked
She nodded

Arthur unlocked the door and came in, he yawned as he placed the groceries onto the counter
"Y/n you're here" he smiled as he made his way towards you
"Hey Arthur"
He placed his lips onto yours and kissed you
"How was work?"
"It was just hectic" he sighed
"Happy I need you to mail this letter" Penny said as she handed the letter to Arthur
"Letter?"
"Yeah"
"But you can't write properly" Arthur said
"Y/n wrote it for me"
Arthur gave you a smile
Arthur scanned the letter and chuckled
"Thomas Wayne?" Arthur questioned
"That's right" Penny responded
"Thomas Wayne is a busy man mum"
"No way I've worked for that family for years and the least they'll do is write back"
"But what you worked for him like 30 years ago?"
"But Happy I-"
"Fine I'll mail the letter" I interrupted as I asked the letter from Arthur since it was in his grip
"Don't worry I'll mail it tomorrow" Arthur sighed
Arthur wanted me to stay over at his, me and him were in his bedroom.
"Arthur can I ask you something?"
"Sure"
"Has it always been you and your mother?"
Arthur looked down and didn't say anything
He sighed and looked straight into my eyes
"yeah" he nodded
"Okay" I responded
"I-if you're worried that I'll leave you when you a have my baby I won't do that ever and don't think that" Arthur said confidently yet so innocently
"Arthur I didn't think that at all" I gasped and I lightly chuckled
"Oh" Arthur blushed
"But I want a lot of kids" I added
"I've always wanted loads of kids too" he smiled
"By loads I mean about roughly around 12/13"
Arthur's eyes widened
"I'm joking" I giggled
"I was about to say" Arthur smirked as he kissed you
The sun shine hit through the curtains, which irritated my eye lids. I woke up to see Arthur getting ready for work.
"Good morning baby" I yawned
"Morning Love"
"Oh yeah don't forget to post the letter" I said as I feel asleep
"Okay"
Arthur held the letter and exited the door
Arthur forget about posting the letter since he was in the rush on getting to work
After work it was 9 pm, Arthur made his way towards the letter box but curiously wanted to open the letter so he did...as he opened the letter tears rolled down his face and he read each word.
He scrunched the letter.
He felt betrayed.
He threw the letter to the side and stormed home
Y/n was at Arthur's house helping Penny cook.
"Y/n I've run of out the olive oil" Penny said
"Don't worry I'll go and get some from my apartment" I said as I walked out to get the oil from my apartment.
The door smashed open.
Penny dropped whatever she was doing and ran towards Arthur who was fuming.
"Arthur what's wrong?"
"THIS" Arthur yelled as he ripped the empty envelope
Penny ran and locked herself in the bathroom.
Arthur was banging the door and shouting repeatedly
I opened the door and wondered is Arthur already home? I walked in to hear Arthur taking deep breathes in and out and saying
"I-I'm not angry mom....I'm not angry"
I walked in and saw him walking towards the door
"Hi Arthur is everything okay?" I asked
"Oh y/n" he smiled
"What's this?" He asked as he showed me the envelope
My eyes widened
"WHATS THIS?" He yelled
"Happy it's not her fault!" His mother yelled
I ran to his room and before I could shut the door he stopped me. He grabbed my arm and pushed me onto the bed.
"A-Arthur I promise I did not know until I wrote the letter!"
Arthur looked his bedroom door
"Y/n why didn't you tell me?" He asked as he was facing window
"A-Arthur I didn't wanna start anything besides it's not my place to tell you"
"BUT YOURE SUPPOSED TO BE MY GIRLFRIEND"
"But that's your mother's secret"
"You're unbelievable"
"I-I I'm so so sorry"
"Y/n I need a break" he sighed as he walked away for you
You felt so stupid for not even telling him but you didn't wanna hurt Penny either.
You walked out of Arthur's room to find him sitting on the coach; crying into his palms.
You sat next to him and hugged him, he opened up and hugged you back.
"Arthur I'm so so sorry"
"No y/'n I can understand why you couldn't tell me but I j-just don't know what to believe anymore"
