CHAPTER SEVEN
I'm having a difficult time processing this. What does Sehun mean by before he does something stupid? And why did Baekhyun say that he's the one that claimed me?
Baekhyun continued pulling me until we reached a large room. From the looks of it, it's their library. "Why did you blurt out that it's a demon mark?" he sighed as he closed the door.
He gestured towards the couch and I took a seat. "He already saw it, there's no use lying to him." I scratched my head.
Baekhyun sighed as he sat at the other end of the couch. "Now you've gotten me involved," he groaned.
"Well you didn't need to do that," I told him. "Why did you even say it?" I asked.
"It's the only thing we could've done otherwise Sehun would keep asking," he explained. But why him of all people? "Can't you just be grateful that I did something like that to protect you?" he said in disbelief.
"Sorry," I grinned sheepishly. "I guess I owe you two already." I chuckled.
"Two?" he asked.
"For the tea and bread last night, then this." I answered.
"Don't forget the coat that I lent you," he joked. Both of us shared a laugh after that. I was actually surprised to see Baekhyun laughing, it somewhat made me feel comfortable.
"Don't let your guard down, Paige. No matter how human I act, I'm still a part demon. You shouldn't trust me."
I scooted closer and I looked straight at him. I noticed that he has beautiful eyes and an innocent-looking face. "What are you talking about suddenly?" he leaned backward as he avoided eye contact. He probably heard me.
"I'll still trust you, I want to." I smiled.
He shook his head in disbelief. "You sure are stubborn," he chuckled lightly.
"Why did you bring me here?" I asked him.
"To keep you away from Sehun for a while," he answered. "It's also to convince him, who knew that your stubbornness is contagious?"
I grinned. Well, at least I'd have no problems with Sehun for a while. "But can you tell me why he's the only one like that?" I asked him, he knows I'm referring to Sehun. Baekhyun looked hesitant at first but he just nodded.
"My mother was cursed when she was pregnant with Sehun. My uncle was responsible for it since he was never on good terms with my father. It just so happens that they were in the midst of a big fight when my mother was pregnant. My father defeated my uncle but my uncle still seeks revenge and that's where he involved my mother and the child she was carrying."
So it was just bad timing that Sehun and their mother got involved. "What was the fight about?" I asked him.
"They are fighting for their position as head of the family. My uncle just can't accept defeat." he answered.
"Where are they now?" I still don't understand how my stepfather got to know their father.
"My father is with your stepfather, it's for business. That also explains how he got the debts. My uncle shows up from time to time just to mess with us brothers, especially with Sehun." he seemed to notice my worrying. "You shouldn't worry though, you got us." I nodded. Well at least now I understand, I'm no longer that clueless.
"Anyways, we'll be attending school tonight so you should prepare," he said as he stood up.
"Night class? That's cool." I whistled. It's a whole new experience for me.
"You should be careful though, the students of the night class aren't normal people." he warned.
More demons... great. I'm bound to die young.
"You shouldn't worry too much. I'll swear to protect you and I'm sure my brothers would do the same" I smiled at Baekhyun once again. He's getting a lot nicer, isn't he?
"You're confusing me, you said I shouldn't trust you then now you're saying that you'll protect me." I smiled playfully.
"Just be glad that I'm doing it for you" he scratched his head as he stood up and turned away to leave.
"Just admit it, you're being nice to me," I giggled. "No need to be embarrassed, Baekhyun." he suddenly stopped.
I went near him and I pulled the hem of his shirt. "Baekhyun, hey Baekhyun." I teased.
He quickly turned towards me, grabbed me by the arms, and slammed me against the door. "You sure are careless aren't you?" his voice was filled with warning.
Shit. I got too relaxed with him.
"You shouldn't be so comfortable with me," he leaned forward until our foreheads touched. Is he going to feed off me too? Kai did say that if I call his name repeatedly he wouldn't hesitate to feed off me, could it be the same with Baekhyun?
Baekhyun smirked. I shut my eyes tightly due to fear, all of a sudden I felt him gently blowing on my face. He released my arms then he stepped back.
"Huh?" I looked at him in confusion.
"You're lucky that it's me, the others would've fed off from you if you did it to them." he chuckled as he flicked my wrist.
"Y-you tricked me?!" I exclaimed. "I was terrified!" I whined but he only laughed lightly at me.
"It's to teach you a lesson, learn to be more careful. Demons will still be demons, Paige."
I sighed in relief. "Please don't scare me like that again," I groaned. Baekhyun opened the door and we headed out of the library.
"I won't Paige, I won't." he grinned. I thought he's really the grumpy type, I guess he's a lot nicer than I thought.
Soon it was time for us to go to school. I saw that everyone was already wearing their school uniform. "As expected, I knew that the uniform would suit you well," Kai chuckled when I joined them. Chanyeol was in charge of driving us to school and it didn't take long until we arrived.
"We're all in the same class since this is a special class," Luhan said, much to my relief. I was afraid to get separated from them.
"Paige," Tao called. "Try not to do anything stupid... for once." he grumbled. I'm trying.
"Well, well... who do we have here?" I froze when we entered the classroom. I saw that all eyes were on me.
"She's with us, please be nice to her." Suho told them as he led me to my seat.
I took my seat and avoided looking at anyone. I should've been used to it by now but meeting other demons is just as scary as knowing their existence for the first time.
"Can you tell us why we have a sweet human girl as our classmate?" one guy asked as he playfully ran his fingers through my hair. Baekhyun immediately swatted his hand away.
"Keep your hands off her, Taehyung." Baekhyun hissed. "Paige is living with us, she's our responsibility"
"Oh," he whistled. "Nice to meet you then," he said with a lopsided smile.
A bunch of other students introduced themselves to me. They seem really nice since they gave me a good welcome... unlike other demons. I earned a piercing stare from Tao because of that.
"Don't call anyone by their names okay?" Lay reminded.
"Got it" I nodded.
I kept reminding myself of two things. One, don't call them by their names, and two, don't get injured. Kyungsoo already warned me about my blood, it'd be bad if I get injured in here. Once it was a vacant period, I left the room to go and get some fresh air. Night class is harder for me, I'm not a night person. I'd rather sleep.
I was walking aimlessly through the corridors until I came across some of my classmates. I think I remember them. "So where is the human off to?" Jin asked as he and his friends eyed me.
"I used the washroom, I was just walking around for some fresh air." I replied.
"You know you shouldn't be wandering off alone. It's dangerous during the night." Jungkook leaned in and whispered.
"I-I should go," I stuttered as I stepped out of their way but one guy suddenly wrapped his arm around my shoulder.
"I think you should hang out with us for a while. It's not bad to get to know others, Paige." Taehyung cooed.
They don't look like bad people but I can't trust them so easily either.
"Hey, stay away from her," I was startled to see Sehun approaching us. He looked really irritated.
"Oh come on Sehun, can't Paige have a little fun?" Jimin asked with chuckle.
"Baekhyun and the others will get mad if they find out. Come on Paige." he called out.
"Someone's possessive," Namjoon smirked.
I quickly moved away from them and I followed Sehun. "You should go back to the room," Sehun told me.
"Thanks, you saved me back there," I sighed.
"You weren't in any harm, they're just playful. I just don't want my brothers to scold you again." he remarked. I was about to go back to the classroom but I heard him calling out to me so I turned around.
"When I said I was interested in you, it's just because you're human. It doesn't mean anything, that's all." Why is he telling me now? I didn't even give it much thought. "Demons are possessive, you shouldn't get too close with anyone. I'm telling you this for my brother and your sake." after that he teleported away.
He's thinking about Baekhyun. I guess he cares about his brothers a lot more than I thought. What would happen if Sehun were to find out the truth about himself? Would he despise his brothers for hiding such a thing?
"Is this real? A human is getting concerned for a bunch of demons?" I flinched when I heard a deep voice.
I turned and I saw a pair of red eyes staring back at me. I stepped back by instinct due to fear. "Who are you?" I nervously asked.
"Let's just say that I know a lot," he chuckled.
"What do you want?" I asked. He looks dangerous, my instincts tell me to run away but I know it's impossible for me to outrun a demon anyway.
"I'm just checking on the boys, especially Sehun. I admire the fact that you aren't afraid of talking to him despite what he did" How did he know? Who is this man? "I'm warning you human, if you're going to keep being careless then Sehun might change forms before the night ends. Remember, it will be easy for him to force you to be his mate." he disappeared afterwards.
My knees weakened and I ended up kneeling on the ground afterward. That man, there's just something so deadly about his aura. "There you are," I heard a familiar voice.
"What's wrong with you?" Baekhyun looked puzzled as he gently helped me up. I held onto his arms tightly, I was shaking in fear. I kept telling myself to calm down but I couldn't, there's just something about that man's aura that's just so... terrifying.
"I-I saw a man... he... he's scary. He knows about me, he knows about your brother." I stammered.
Baekhyun gritted his teeth. "That's my uncle, is he still here?" I shook my head in response.
"He's lurking around somewhere, stay close." he held my shaking hand. "Whenever he's around, nothing good ever happens. You have to be twice as careful, I'm sure he already knows about you and Sehun." he told me.
We quickly returned to the classroom afterward and Baekhyun informed his brother about their uncle. I looked around the room and I noticed that Sehun wasn't around. "Paige, you need to be careful. Our uncle has full demon powers, he can do far more things than we could." Tao warned.
As if on cue, the lights began flickering. The room shook and the glass windows suddenly shattered. They tried to cover me from the shards of glass but some of it flew in my direction. There were cuts over my arms. I winced when I felt the stinging pain.
"Get Paige out," Kyungsoo gulped.
That was when I noticed that some of my classmates were all looking at me dangerously. Their eyes were glowing red. "Let's go," Chen helped me up and we ran outside.
As we were running, Chen and I got separated from them since the others had to hold off my other classmates. Luckily, we managed to come across Baekhyun. "Come with me Paige," he grabbed me. "Xiumin and the others need your help, Chen." he added.
Chen seemed to be worried as well so he just ran back to the classroom. "Should we leave?" I asked Baekhyun.
"Luhan's badly hurt, we need to go to him for a while."
We entered an empty classroom and once we entered I saw Luhan on the floor and he was unconscious. How did he get here? I ran towards him and I shook his shoulders. "Luhan, wake up," I said worriedly.
"He wouldn't wake up," I turned to Baekhyun. I saw Baekhyun smirking. What's going on?
My eyes widened when I saw Baekhyun transforming into the man I saw earlier. "I warned you, you're so easy to trick." he chuckled.
I turned to look at Luhan and I watched in horror as I saw him transforming into Sehun. It was all an illusion! "You tricked me!" I hissed as I faced their uncle.
"Good luck human," he said as he disappeared once again.
I slowly moved away from Sehun's body. He was stirring a little but he isn't fully awake. I hope it's not too late to run away. I turned around and I crept towards the door. Just as I was about to place my hand on the doorknob, I felt a firm grip on my arm.
I was forced to turn around and I saw Sehun smirking at me, he chuckled darkly.
"Did you miss me, Paige?"

I really appreciate everyone that is still reading this story despite it being finished years ago. It means a lot. Tbh, I'm not really sure why this story is loved so much lol. I am a bit slow on updates now because sometimes I just cringe at my own writing and I don't want to be reminded of this but Two Faced will always mean a lot to me regardless of what I think of it (sorry for dragging my own work). Hahahaha. Anyway, enjoy reading!
