Living in a dull yet not so fascinating city is bad enough
however I enjoy my job as a waitress in a popular restaurant that sits in the middle of Gotham city called Grubs of Gotham.
I know stupid name. My life's gotten more interesting ever since I developed a crush on someone.
I haven't had crushes since my high school days but this man honestly...drives me crazy.
His name is Arthur Fleck
He's actually my neighbour and we've known each other for a while but to be honest we only talk when he's either leaving for work or I'm leaving for work. I want us to progress; I want things to move quicker but right now they're moving slow!
I was asleep until I heard music playing from the other side of the wall, obviously that's Arthur's apartment.
I didn't mind since it wasn't loud enough but I could hear it faintly coming from my walls until I heard someone bashing on Arthur's apartment door, I quickly dashed on a silk rope and left my apartment to see.
Oh great.
It's the angry, goof looking angry neighbour; George.
But he lives opposite him...oh well he always has a go on Arthur but this time he went too far; he was louder and anger than before.
"ARTHUR IF YOU DONT LOWER THAT MUSIC DOWN ILL.."
"Do What?" I stated as I came forward to confront George
"No one asked you to get involved doll!"
"Watch your mouth George!" I said as I pointed my finger in his face.
Then the door unlocked and Arthur came out.
"George I'm sorry it's just my mother she wants the music really loud" he said as he looked scared
"What is she deaf?"
"George?" Arthur said sounding rather hurt
"I said watch your mouth George!" I yelled
Arthur looked over at my direction
"You can at least sort this out without being so rude!" I added
"It's always him, he always causes a chaos" George said as he pointed at Arthur
"Oh please I've been his neighbour for a long time now and honestly he hasn't bothered me at all!" I said
Arthur smiled at me which made my heart beat faster; at this point I felt as if my heart was about to explode.
"Whatever!" George said as he walked into his apartment shutting the door behind him.
I was about to make my way inside my own apartment until Arthur called my name out
"Y/n?" He said softly
"Yeah?" I asked
"Thanks for defending me" he said
"It's okay"
"It's means a lot" he added as he smiled
"It's fine" I smile as I tried to contain myself from going crazy.
"Goodnight" he said
"Goodnight"
I noticed Arthur leaving for work and I decided to catch up; we both managed to get into the elevator together.
"Hey Arthur"
"Hi y/n"
"So you're off to work?" I asked
"Yeah you?"
"Yup same here" I replied

I couldn't think of anything honestly. Our exist came and he walked the opposite side. I well not trying to be a stalker I followed him sort off; until I saw my boss leaving Arthur's workplace.
I looked up at the building and it was just had a deflated massive clown on top.
"What is this place" I thought to myself not realising that i had spoken out
"This y/n is where the clowns work" my boss said
"Oh I was on my to work but-" I explained
"Last time I checked Grubs of Gotham was on the left side not the right side" he added as he examined me
"I'm so sorry"
"It's okay which fella where you stalking?" He laughed
"I wasn't stalking anyone" I blushed
"My brother is the manager of this place and besides he wanted to meet you"
"Why?" I scoffed
"Because they need more information about my restaurant from someone more honest"
"I still don't get it?"
"Well y/n you see my brother believes I'm over exaggerating about how good my restaurant is...he needs an honest review from an honest person"

"Will you come in now?"
"Sure" I smiled as I knew I would see Arthur again.
I walked in with my boss and noticed Arthur sitting on the bench fixing a big shoe? My boss clicked his fingers in my face.
"Wakey wakey" he said
"Oh sorry" I said
"Ohhh so you're checking out Arthur?" He laughed
"Noo!"
"HEY ARTHUR!" My boss yelled
"No shush" I said
"Come here" he said
Arthur stood up and came towards us, my eyes widened
"Y/n I'll be back" my boss said as he walked away as he laughed
"Y/n is everything okay?" He asked
"Yeah" I smiled
"Why did he call me here?"
"Well erm I don't know" I said
"Whatever I'm going" he said as he walked away
I sighed
This ain't going to work! I thought to myself.
After the long meeting with my boss's brother I noticed that he's actually the biggest asshole I'm ever going to come across.
The way he treats everyone...as if they're nothing! what happened was that...I was talking to him about how great the place was and how I'm enjoying my job until Arthur got called in; he started humiliating Arthur for stealing a sign or something.
{flashback}
"You stole the sign?" The manager stated
"Why would I steal a sign" Arthur said as his voice cracked
"How the fuck am I supposed to know?
"Why would anyone do anything"
"But I didn't" Arthur said
"Save it! Arthur everyone feels uncomfortable around you, you freak people out!" He yelled
"Oh shut up!" I yelled
Arthur's boss was taken back by my comment
"Seriously don't talk to him like that! I'm pretty sure he's the only one that's making profit for this shit hole!"
"Listen missy"
"No shut up you do nothing but constantly treat people like shit!"
"Besides he make no one uncomfortable nor does he freak anyone out!" I said as I dashed a pen at him, charging out of the office.
I stood outside the door catching my breath, I got pretty heated up about this.
"Does she like you or something?" I heard Arthur's boss ask Arthur
I peeked through the side of the door to see Arthur's reaction
"doubt it" he replied
Oh my gosh does he think my standards are high or something?
Time goes by; and by time I mean months, me and Arthur sort of stopped talking. Since I hardly ever see him. I was too stressed about my new boss.
He's such a fucking pervert he makes me so uncomfortable.
My old boss who was actually really nice had moved away for some odd reason. I hated this town; i hated the way the system worked! I hated everything!
I was skipping through the channels and noticed something about a riot...people starting a riot whom only put a clown mask on. They stood for something I actually agreed with.
"Thomas Wayne is a piece of shit" one sign said
Until one sign stood out the most
"We are" I smiled as I starred at the tv.
I found out from other people who are in the apartment. They all spread rumours saying that Arthur has killed 3 men and that he was behind the clown killer. But the rumour that stood out the most out of all were that the joker is actually Arthur Fleck. If that's the case; I wanted to rule with him...
I decided to go out for a walk as I placed a clown mask on as I walked down the street; I walked up the stairs till I noticed...
"Fuck" I thought to myself
"Is that Arthur" My mind wondered
I walked up the stairs and he stopped dancing. He came face to face with me in a clown mask. I could see behind the clown phase there's innocent Arthur. Trapped.
"What do we have here" he giggled as he tried to remove my mask and I backed away.
I removed the mask myself. I came face to face with him.
"Y/n?" He smiled
"Hi"
"You know that mask is for notorious people" he sighed
"And?"
"You're innocent" he whispered as he took the mask away from me
That evening; I was at work until my new boss instructed me to stay behind. I didn't want to.
I tried to leave until he locked the door.
"Sir this ain't right" I said
"What's right and what's wrong who cares?" He smirked as he forcefully grabbed my arm.
"Get off me!" I shrieked as I bit his hand
He let go and slapped me causing me to fall onto the ground.
I backed away as tears rolled down my face. He grabbed hold of my leg and yanked me forward. He began taking his jacket off.
I stood up quickly and I ran and grabbed a large kitchen knife and faced him.
"You can't stab me" he laughed hysterically
"You can't even hurt a fly" he laughed
"Stay away!" I yelled
"What are you gonna do? Huh stab m" he
stopped as I stabbed him right in the chest.
Tears rolled down my face; something came over me which drove me to stab him repeatedly.
I dropped the knife and noticed I was my arms were covered in blood.
"I just killed someone?" I thought to myself
I saw some people walking past the restaurant and the terror in their eyes as they saw a lifeless body laying there with blood everywhere including me made them shriek.
I noticed later that a police car came and parked outside the restaurant. I sniffled as I saw the police men break the door and collect me.
They handcuffed me and took my out. My eyes were scanning the whole place. Dozens of people standing there with clowns masks.
I noticed someone standing in the side.
It was Arthur.
But he refers to himself as the Joker.
I saw him smirk at me as he noticed me.
The next day I sat there being questioned by the police officer over and over until luckily the camera that was inside the restaurant had everything recorded.
So I was innocent but I did kill someone but that was out of self defence!
No? I was still being held against.
"WHAT KIND OF SYSTEM IS THIS? HE COULD HAVE RAPED ME!" I cried as I slammed the table
"Mam we understand where you're coming from"
"NO YOU DONT!" I screamed as I ran outside the police station, I ran as far as I could noticing them yelling my name.
I ran fast.
I ran towards the train station and hopped into the crowded train filled with Jokers crew.
I was the only individual with no mask. Until I felt someone tap my shoulder.
It was Arthur I mean...Joker
"What you did what pretty impressive! You're a strong girl, you did the right thing" he said as he pulled me in for a hug.
He slowly pulled my forward and pressed his lips onto mine.
"Will you rule Gotham city with me?" He asked as he stroked my face with his finger
"Yes" I smiled
