It was now time for everyone to travel to their chosen interns after a week and a half rest from the Sports Festival. Aizawa had them all bus down to the subway and had them part ways to their agency but before he did, he spoke yo them. "Alright, Listen up. You will be heading off to your assigned workplace from here. Most of you will be not to far while others are in a deeper part of town...".
That hit home for Delsin, as his placement was on the other side of town so his train ride will be longer than others. He decided to go with the Dunbar agency, trying to see how knew it was. 'Though it's pretty weird how even Nejire, who has heard of corporations all the time, has never heard of the Dunbar Agency? Do you think it's a hoax?'. 'Honestly, I don't know. The bluennete's right, it is odd how it just appeared out of nowhere but again, maybe it's a organization that moves underground, likes to keep itself hidden, and only decided to resurface after seeing your matches in the Sports Festival' John said.
"But it will be alright. Follow your instructors rules and you'll be okay. Please behave yourselves and act proper, Ashido-san" he looked pointingly to her, as her outbursts usually aren't really noted as proper manners. The Pink skinned girl looked away and laughed sheepishly. "R-Right..." She said, getting chuckled from the class.
"Good. I've also taken the liberty to give you your costumes to wear but just don't lose them and also, don't wear them in public without your Instructor's supervision. Alright, you may go" he said as he left the room, igniting the students chatter, waiting for their separate trains to arrive. "So, Izuku, who'd you choose for your intern?" Delsin asked, starting a conversation.
"W-Well, as you a-already know, I didn't get a nomination but at the last minute, I finally got an offer. A person named Gran Torino!" He said. "What about you? Who did you choose as your intern? With your vast amount of options, it must've been hard" Izuku said. Delsin sighed. "No kidding. It took me 4 hours after school to figure it out but I finally decided. I'm going to an agency that's called 'Dunbar Agency'. It's a new agency so I don't know what to expect" Delsin said.
Uraraka came up to them after that, looking a bit crestfallen. "Hey, Ochako! What's wrong?" Delsin asked, seeing her sadden expression. "It's Iida-kun, he just left without saying a word to any of us. Usually, he gives us a long and grueling speech about respecting our betters but he didn't say anything. I'm worried about him" she said. Delsin and Izuku sighed, finding that Iida was a bit closed off now. Ever since that day in the cafeteria, he hasn't spoken to any of the students in the class much.
He'd only respond to questions and even then, it was usually one worded answers like 'yes' or 'no'. The longest answers he would give was to Aizawa, as he's the teacher. It helped them feel safe as to know that Iida was still the same Iida as he would never disrespect a teacher, hero or anyone of higher and honorable status. "Yeah, it's strange isn't it?" Delsin thought out loud. Seeing his train coming, Delsin began to bid his farewells to his friends and started walking to the train when a voice stopped him.
"Delsin-kun!" Momo called him, making the boy turn around. "Oh, hey Momo? What's up". She began to put her hands in her duffle bag, reaching for something. After a good minute, she pulled out his denim jacket with his signature bird symbol on the back. "I....um....I still had this from the time you have it to me when I was nearly.....um....anyway, I forgot to give it back to you but I've decided to wash it and return it to you when this day came!". 'After sleeping in it, embracing your scent. Wearing nothing but your jacket to bed is so alluring.....' She thought, blushing from her lustful thought.
"Thanks Momo! I completely forgot about this. You're so awesome, you know that?" He said as he hugged her, with her immediately returning it. She took the liberty to bring him closer to her, pressing her impressive chest to his, getting hin to slightly blush at the sudden intimate hug. 'Well, like my mother used to say to me, "If you got it, flaunt it!"' Yaoyorozu thought. Delsin broke the hug and smiled towards her awkwardly thought Momo only smiled seductively.
John laughed in his hosts head. 'Seems she's getting more bold in her attempts of gaining Rowe's attention. Hado better get the ball rolling other wise she might lose Delsin for good!' Delsin left after that, ready to go through the apprenticeship. It was a long train ride but not a grueling one as he had time to think about everything. About the said Internship, about Yaoyorozu's odd behavior towards him, Iida's strange behavior as well and one that was playing his mind more than the others was Hado's actions the other day.
'Did I come on too strong? Is it because of my age? That I'm younger than her? Or that I'm too average for a girl like her, who has, is and will be everything?' He thought. Delsin could honestly say, he wasn't an idiot. An idiot would be Kaminari, who although is one of Rowe's greatest friends in U.A, let his grades fall so goddamn low, the Electrification user was nearly facing expulsion for being this dumb. If it wasn't for he, Iida, Yaoyorozu and Midoriya, the class Council, to help him with his studies, he would've been expelled.
Sure, he was ranked 6th overall in academic studies in the class, so no, he wasn't dumb. But when it came to women and flirting, Delsin was the biggest idiot on the damn planet. He couldn't figure out their means of flirting and their weird ways of advancing on the person of interest. It was frustrating to him. So he didn't know of Momo's earlier advances towards him. Though he knew what he felt and it did feel good for a beautiful girl like her holding on to him like that.
But it felt exponentially better when it was Nejire touching him, which only hurt more to know that she might never touch him agsin, not after that night. Just when he was thinking about it more, the train stopped, bringing him to his destination. He grabbed his costume case and hopped of the train and exited the station afterwards.
He noticed that the street he was on was so populated, yet the area is so crappy. Its definitely the place where the town's brothels and drug dealers were in town but since it's the day, not many are around, only the more bold ones. 'So I'm in the town's Red Light District? Fuck....'
He cursed. This was bringing back a bad memory for him. The night he got shot.
The moment now was only better because it's daylight, he can see much better. Where he wqs living wasn't a red light district but at night, it's still pretty shady. Who knows what's lurking in the night? He past many suspicious looking people and a couple of prostitutes who eyed him lusciously. They all thought he was a older man, which almost everyone thought which made him smiled. He can almost get away with anything, well, until they decide to card him, mind you.
He was about to reach his destination, a house on the block that led to more houses, a lone man with a black trench cloak stepped in front of him. "Hey, you?" He said. Delsin raised an eyebrow, his guard up, ready to attack this man if things headed south. "What? What is it?" He asked. The weird man moved his hands to touch the sides of his coat. He pulled it open fast and made Delsin jump back, in his fighting stance.
Though when he saw what was inside the coat, He could only slap his forehead in annoyance. Inside the coat was full of 'priceless' watched, rings, earrings, necklaces etc. He was dealing with an illegal vendor. "So, wanna buy a watch? Or a ring? You know what you are? You're more of a necklace type of person?". Delsin groaned. "Look dude, beat it, okay. I don't want your fake brands of jewelry!" He said about to move past him but the man stopped him again.
"What makes you think that my stuff is fake? You don't know anything....". Delsin rolled his eyes. "Yeah, I totally don't see that jem on the ring, looks like those half assed mood rings you order in a school's scholastic ad. You're not fooling anybody!". The man looked mad, about to raise his voice but A another man stepped in. "Hey, will you stop it, Kasuki? The kid's right, your stuffs fake and we all know it. There goes everyone's bet that says you might convince a kid of your bullshit, even he knows" a man said.
Kasuki growled at the man above him while Delsin watched the man too. The man had an 'uncle' vibe come from him. His attire consisted of sunglasses with a black tint and a golden frame, a black coat with a dirty yellow undershirt, and several holsters for his ammunition and the pistol he carried. For his lower attire, he wore some light gray pants, with knee pads, one of them having a star design, and some black sneakers. Delsin raised his eyebrow. 'Who the hell is this?' He thought.
John narrowed his eyes at the man in front of them. 'Hey.....he looks...familiar....' He thought. Kasuki sighed as he just walked away, having already lost his 'client' and having said client reveal his fake items, he cut his losses and decided to find another sap to suck dry (pause). "Thanks old man, that guy was getting on my nerves!". The man glared at Delsin hard, though the teen was unable to see through the glasses.
"Old man?! I'll have you know I'm only 37!" He said. The Conduit user sighed. "Yeah whatever. Say, you know where I can find a....Zeke Dunbar? He lives around here right?". The man stiffened a bit. "Who wants to know? Who are you? Talk!" He said. Delsin glared at the man. "I'm a U.A High school student, here for my internship alright?! Now, do you know the dude or not?!". The man watched him hard, giving him calculative glanced before he sighed in relief, annoying the Conduit user further.
"Oh man! You had me worried kid! I thought I was being tailed by the government or something. Yep, that's me. Zeke Dunbar, head of the Dunbar Agency, at your service!" He said with a cocky showboating attitude. Delsin widened his eyes in shock. 'This....this is him....he looks so.....lame' He thought. The man now named Zeke waved his hand and walked to the end of the street to the lone house. "Come, follow me! Let's get to know each other, dude" he said.
Delsin sighed. "This'll be a long ass week..." He said to himself as he followed the man. As the two walk in the house, Delsin immediately got the scent of whiskey and cheap pizza that hit his nose. It was irritating him to no end. Zeke led him to his living area, where there was a moderate sized tv that played some reality TV show. He looked around the room to see the place in an absolute mess.
There was many empty pizza boxes and beer cans and bottles lying around, on the table was a laptop and beside it were DVD's to some...adult movies he'd rather not say. There was a blanket on the couch, ehich already looked like he got from a garage sale, which also means he frequently sleeps in the room. He was almost afraid to see what upstairs looked like. "So, you're my instructor?" He asked. Zeke nodded his head. "Yep, I saw you on that screem over There dude and I just thought 'Wow, so much untapped potential!'. You're good kid, so good, you remind me of an old friend of mine" Zeke said as he went to open a beer can.
Once he did, he pushed his arm out, offering it to Delsin. The Conduit shook his head. "No thanks, I'm underage....." He said like it was an obvious thing. "Oh Right! My bad, bro!" Zeke said as he chugged the whole drink down his throat without so much as a breath entering his lungs. When he was done, he crushed the can by slamming it on his forehead, before letting out a loud and long burp. Delsun immediately smelt the gas and nearly gagged.
'Onions....onions and ketchup.....oh, how could I forget the beer and pizza..oh was that a bit of garlic too......'
He thought, pretty much disgusted. "Yeah......Im leaving...." Delsin said as he picked up his bag and costume suitcase and headed for the door. Zeke widened his eyes. "W-Wait, kid! Don't go!". Zeke chased off after him, reluctant to let his first ever pupil leave.
Delsin, though, wasn't about to stick around with this nasty drunk and decided as soon as he left for home, he'd contact the school the next day to switch to another organization. While Zeke was chasing after Delsin, he noticed something sticking out of the boy's backpack. While running after him, he snatched that very thing from his bag, causing Delsin to turn around in rage. "Hey! What the hell do you think you're doing?!". Zeke ignored him, staring at the item in his hand.
The item itself was a yellow jacket with black under the arms of it, almost exactly like Zeke's old friend. "W-W-Where did you get this?". Continuing to glare at him, he spoke. "I bought it from a store in Seattle, I modeled it after my favorite hero. Now give it back!" He said as he snatched from Dunbar's hands. Zeke was so stunned that someone actually remembered him. He thought that with his friend's status among the hero world, people will just cast him aside as a rouge and a villain.
But to see some one like Rowe, remember him and call him his 'Favorite hero', it brought tears in the corner of his eyes. It was proof that his friend beliefs still lives on. But then he remembered 'who' acknowledged him. Delsin began to walk away when he heard Zeke speak about something that even shook John. "I'd never thought I'd see the powers of the Beast reside in some one again, though I'm glad it's at least with some one like you, kid?". That got Delsin sweating bullets while John controlled his composure.
'So He knows, him? Given the fact that he was friends with that man, I shouldn't be surprised' He said. Delsin gulped. "W-What're you talking about? The Beast, who's that?". Zeke frowned. "Don't play me for a fool, kid. I've been around those powers longer than I'd like and I know when I see those moves. The Super strength is one thing but the gravity manipulation and teleportation thing was obvious. Plus, when you used the power, your eyes change, it almost looked like I was staring directly into the Beast itself".
Delsin frowned. This guy was smarter than he looked. It seems the pepperoni and Beer haven't damaged all his brain cells yet. "Look, what do you want?". Zeke have a small smile. "Like I said before, let's get to know each other. But not here, let's go somewhere better. I can see that my safe house was a bit too much for you". Delsin narrowed his eyes. "Safe house? What do you mean by that? What's going on?". Zeke sighed. "Look, calm down. Let's get something to eat. Come on? My treat?" Zeke offered.
Delsin eyes him for a bit, trying to figure out the man in front of him. First he was a gross druken mess that seemed like his life was decaying in on itself but now he seemed like a man who had vast amount of knowledge, knowledge that Delsin wouldn't mind learning as well. He was a mystery to him but if he were to try and piece this puzzle, he'd have to play along. "Yeah, sure. But we're not going for pizza....". Zeke sighed. "Alright....fine".
30 minutes later, the duo find themselves in a all you can eat sushi restaurant not too far from Zeke's hideout. Delsin had shoved a piece of spicy tuna sushi roll in his mouth and watched as Zeke had shoved three pieces of teriyaki in his mouth in one go. "You know, I never really tried sushi up until now. It's really good!" He said as he chomped on his food. Delsin nodded as he took a sip of his drink. "Right, it is really good. Anyway, let's move onto different mstters...as in, who are you?".
Zeke sighed he put down his chopsticks. "Well, where do I start? I guess I can start by saying that, I work for the police force to gather information on certain villains in the area. I also help out in the gadget department as I do craft a good portion of the weapons the police use in the field. I'm skilled with a gun as well, wanna see?". Delsin shook his head, passing. He was shocked that the man in front of him was this important but he needed to be sure. "Oh yeah? Well, name one invention you made that is relevant today?".
Zeke smiled, the kid was testing him. He wasn't gullible. "Well, I created the defense system U.A uses in case of intruders were spotted. The Leauge of Villains had some pretty good guys, able to bypass the security by defusing the batteries but now I fixed it. It now runs on satellite power. They also fried the security camera's too but now I added a automatic mini sentry gun as added measures with a voice and fingerprint activation...". Delsin widened his eyes.
'Isn't that a bit much?....' He thought. "Well....lets see, what else did I create? Oh... I helped made Cole's weapon that helped destroy the Beast, or so we thought" Delsin widened his eyes in shock an awe. "Y-Y-You....you built the Amp?!" He asked in awe. Zeke nodded his head with a smile. "Yep, crafted it with my own two hands and parts from a broken down car but that wasn't the weapon I was talking about though, I created a weapon that drained the power of the Beast so Cole could kill him....".
Zeke took a bite of his sushi again and glared at Delsin through his shades. "The question is, how'd you end up with the Beasts power?". Delsin sighed. There was no point in hiding and lying now. The man already knew. "Well, originally, I was diagnosed Quirkless but in all actuality, my quirk was just dormant. I found this weird shard in park. It actually contain a good fraction of the Beasts powers. It happened when I was unfortunately , getting mugged and shot. It's power saved me and activated my own quirk while giving me his, he chose me as its reincarnation".
Zeke looked skeptical about this 'reincarnation' talk. "So...uh...do you...um....talk to him?". Delsin nodded. "Yeah, from time to time. He instructs me how to use his quirk, gives me advise. He's honestly not as bad as history tells of him. Sure he's a bit odd at times and a bit perverted but he's a good guy, just misunderstood" he said. John smiled at his response, not a sadistic smile but a genuine one.
Zeke sighed. "Well, fine. I was just curious is all. But answer me this, why did he attack New Marais that night?". John sighed. 'Tell him that I had felt the presence of All For One in that city and I only came there to kill him. He stole my power and I couldn't let him live. The problem was that the city was just in the way and in my anger, I took it out on them...' He said. "He....he said that he was looking for a guy named All For One. He stole his power and was in the city of New Marais at the time so he needed to kill him but everyone was just in the way. He was just too angry to be subtle".
Dunbar closed his eyes in sadness as he stared at the ground. "M-My friend gave his life stopping him......". Delsin frowned. "And he was a goddamn hero. The best of the best! Nothing will change that. Cole MacGrath is my hero, I will follow his way no matter what and with it, I'll become the greatest hero!" Zeke watched him in awe. In those words, he swore he heard his naive but strong willed friend again. 'He's not only a second coming Beast but he's also the second coming of Cole....Don't worry buddy, your dream still lives on and I'll guide it as best as I can....' Zeke thought.
Dunbar started laughing and got up from his seat, moved beside Delsin and put his hand on the boy's shoulder. "Haha! Well said, kid! Don't worry, I'll help guide you through the righteous path my friend has walked and hopefully, you get to see the end of it too". Rowe raised his eyebrow. "You? Help me? How? If what John is telling is correct, your also Quirkless. Not that I'm denying your skills it's just, how can you train me?".
Zeke only laughed as he started to walk out the sushi store after he paid the bill. "Well, are you coming or what?" He said as he kept walking. Delsin widened his eyes as he picked up his stuff and followed Dunbar, not knowing that the relationship between the two was effectively starting.
And.....Done!
