I sort of tweaked your request a bit, and I am super sorry if that's not exactly what you wanted but I tweaked it to fit the story and the idea I had for it. If that's not okay you can yell at me. :)

"Oh my god I'm so sorry!" I exclaimed as I backed away from them. "I didn't see--"
The other person laughed, crouching down to pick up their fallen book.
"That's quite all right." they replied as they straightened up again. "I wasn't watching where I was going, that's on me."
They looked up at me and their voice slowly began to slowly grow quieter as my eyes widened and my hands covered my mouth in complete and utter shock.
"Nat?" they said quietly, as if speaking too loud would make me disappear.
"Skandar?" I said at the same time.
My friend stood off to the side in confusion, staying silent to see what would happen.
It seemed as if Skandar and I were struck by the same thought at the same time because we stepped towards each other and wrapped our arms around the other, holding the other tightly, as if there was no tomorrow.
"It's been so long." I muttered into his shoulder, right where my head would always fit when we were dating in high school.
"Too long if you ask me." he replied, earning a chuckle from me.
"Um, I don't know if you forgot but I'm still here." my friend's voice rang out.
Skandar and I pulled away from our embrace and sheepishly faced my friend.
"Sorry, (F/N)." I apologized. "This is my friend Skandar I was talking about." I turned to Skandar. "Skan, this is (F/N). She's my roommate too."
We decided to catch up over a coffee. None of us had anything planned so off we went to the nearest coffee shop, a quaint little place with the best drinks and pastries I had ever tasted.
"So, uh, are you still as big of a Harry Potter fan as you were when we graduated?" Skandar asked me as we sat down with our drinks and caught up with each other. We had began dating back in high school, but we kind of disconnected and went our separate ways. We still talked, but very little, considering how much work we had to do.

So once we caught up with each other Skandar and I exchanged numbers again (who'd have thought, he changed his number) and we went our separate ways for the night.
Once he was out of earshot, my friend began bombarding me with questions and requests to finish my story about Skandar.
"Okay, okay, calm down. Let me finish the story and I'll answer questions after." I answered.

Like I said, high school was different. Skandar and I were even more inseparable than before, if that was even possible. Maybe it was because we were in a new environment with completely different people and we didn't know anyone or anything.
It was most terrible when we had different classes again. I hated not being able to make new friends as fast as I used to when I was in elementary school.
"Hey! Natalie! Wait up!" Skandar's familiar voice rang out in the hall. I was surprised I was able to hear him over all the chatter in the hallway.
"Oh, there goes theatre boy again." someone scoffed to their friend. I looked over to see the same two kids who had made Skandar's life hell since Day 1. "He never shuts up."
I turned around and smiled at Skandar, keeping the person who insulted my friend in the corner of my eye. I wrapped my arms around my best friend in a hug. But when we pulled away from each other, Skandar frowned.
"Hey, what's wrong?"
I huffed, brushing a few stray hairs from my face. "Some kids keep being idiots and calling you annoyingly loud. Among other things, but that was today's insult."
Skandar shrugged. "Come on, it's fine. We'll deal with them later."
I crossed my arms across my chest. "No." I grabbed his hand and dragged him over to the said idiots, a scowl on my face and Skandar looking like I usually did; timid and shy and really wishing he could have been anywhere else but talking to some kids who could potentially get him detention.
"You two. Stop insulting my friend."
"So what are you gonna do about it?" one of them laughed.
I rolled my eyes at them. "Do you know how dumb you sounded just now?"
They looked taken aback, but then quickly covered up their surprise; Skandar looked like he was going to murder me for starting something. Sorry, Marie, ladies can start fights if they want to.
"Yeah, but probably not as dumb as you do right now."
This time I laughed. Genuinely laughed. Looked like some hands were going to be thrown.

"Needless to say, I ended up insulting their intelligence and a few fists were thrown, we all got detention." I finished. "It was all worth it though, they didn't bother us any more after that."
It was almost midnight and I was surprised to get a text from Skandar.

I know it's late but I was wondering if you wanted to go on a date with me?
Or just maybe a small thing

I chuckled at his awkwardness and hurriedly typed back that I was available this Saturday.

I went to bed that night with a smile on my face. Saturday couldn't come fast enough.

I found Skandar sitting by the window outside the cafe, two other people sitting with him. I recognized them as my red-headed bestie from primary school, Georgie, and my blond-haired friend--also from primary school--William.
I greeted them cheerfully, reconnecting with them as I hadn't seen them in years.
"Oh, it's so good to see you, Natalie! It's been forever!" William agreed.
Skandar seemed a little distant through our whole conversation--we had a pretty long conversation, I was surprised he was able to hold out that long--not chatting as much as he normally would when we were together. Something looked off about him, but he denied it. I kept glancing over at him, finally saying something when he gave me yet another nervous smile.
"Okay, out with it, Skandar." I demanded. "You've been acting weird all day and it's starting to worry me."
He looked slightly shocked, but also slightly relieved, and....was that a light dusting of pink on his cheeks?
"Oh...um...well--you see--er, well..." he began, struggling to find the right words. I quickly glanced at Georgie and William and saw that they seemed to be holding their breath in anticipation.
He finally managed to put his thoughts together into comprehensible words. "Natalie, I've known you since primary school. And every day I grow more and more in love with you." I couldn't believe my ears. Was this....
"So will you make me even more giddy every day for the rest of our lives and marry me?" he finished.
.....yeah, it was.
Happy tears pooled in my eyes as I nod and Skandar stands, minimizing the small gap between us. He wraps his arms around me and I happily return the hug.
"I've been waiting so long to do that. I never would have worked up enough courage if it weren't for William and Georgie here." he explains modestly while turning to them. "Thank you so much, guys. It means a lot."
He turns back to me and captures my lips in a kiss. Georgie squeals happily behind Skandar and William chuckles quietly. Never in a million years did I think the little boy who invited me to sit next to him back in primary school would ask me to marry him, so many years later.
Like I said in the beginning, I slightly tweaked the prompt a bit so I could fit it better with my vision. Feel free to call me out on inconsistencies and typos, etc. and I'll edit them as soon as I can.
So that's a wrap! I had trouble writing this ngl, but I'm mostly happy with how it turned out. Lots of procrastinating and skippingpreciousstudytimeformyfinalsthatareactuallythisweekehetofinishthisandanotherimagine, but we're gonna just ignore that bit.
