I'd always thought that if Yuu were to die his spirit or whatever would somehow continue to be loud and opinionated from the grave; which is why I wasn't too surprised when he woke up and leaped out the window, claiming he was going to save Guren.
Knowing he was technically Guren's experiment and he was most likely possessed also lessened the surprise.
"General Major Shinya," kimizuki came forward and addressed a rather bewildered Shinya, "My demon will be able to return Yuichiro to normal. Assuming his demon has regenerated his organs, my demon will be able to stop him from becoming a full demon and we won't have to report him dead."
"I see." Shinya sighed in relief, "Shinoa, will your squad be able to handle it alone? I have to get the rest of the soldiers moving as the vampire backup is here."
"As we're going with no intentions to fight we will take less than 10 minutes, we're just grabbing Yuu and escaping." She smiled nonchalantly,
"Perfect, you have 5 minutes then."
"Eh? I said less than 10 minutes,"
"Is 5 not less than 10?" Shinya raised his eyebrows at her,
"We have to walk all the way over there!" She complained,
"Oh, I hope not! With that time limit you all better be sprinting."
Shinoa was about to retort back although us being tight on time I thought it'd be appropriate to end this, "Alright! We'll see you guys in 5 minutes, we wouldn't have gone far so it'll be easy for you to catch up, ok?" I nodded, tugging Shinya along with me,
"Hey!" Shinoa called from behind us in frustration, although we kept walking until we met the troops outside,
"Hm, have fun explaining to the people." I gestured to the restless crowd,
Shinya sighed, rolling his eyes, "Thanks for that."
He approached the crowd and began to speak, upon hearing the news there was unsurprisingly a ruckus and flurry of questions although Shinya made it clear that there was no time for these questions to be answered and we had to leave immediately if we wanted to avoid any vampires.
Everyone obediently followed the orders and it wasn't long before we saw Shinoa's squad running towards us.
"We have to hurry up, the backup is here." Kimizuki said with an unconscious Yuu on his back,
Shinya nodded and turned to the bewildered crowd behind him, "You heard, let's go."

We reached the airport where we were ordered to go. The journey wasn't easy at all; we ran into the vampires as expected and many died, including 2 members from Narumi's squad.
I sighed, "What now?"
"That's an excellent question. We don't know if Guren is alive or not, and a bunch of people have died, what the hell do we do now?" A girl with blond pigtails spoke up angrily, I recognised her as a member of Narumi's squad,
"Can't we try to save Guren?" Someone asked, everyone else mumbled in agreement,
Shinya seemed awfully stressed, "We can't do that. It's too dangerous and it's going against orders."
"Then what do we do? Weren't you given any further instructions or are we here to go on holiday?"she argued,
"Calm down Rika, orders are orders, we'll be fine."
Shinya was torn, although before he could respond Mito returned from the control centre, "I think these are the further orders."
Shinya nodded taking it and reading it, his facial expression remained the same as his eyes skimmed over the note,
"What does it say?" Mito asked,
"To stand by."
"You can't be serious-". Narumi rolled his eyes,
"In that case it shouldn't hurt to attempt to save Guren?" Goshi piped up,
"I don't know, Goshi."
"Hey! The vampires are right behind us, we just barely escaped them back there. You can't be saying that we're expected to be stay here to die. Why would Lieutenant Colonel Guren want that for us?" Narumi said angrily,
Shinya crossed his arms, "The mission isn't Guren's."
"Who's is it then?"
"Lieutenant General Kureto Hiragi's."
"Of course, the Hiragi family abusing their power again." Narumi angrily seethed, "This is bullshit, we're aborting this 'mission' and going to save Lieutenant Colonel Guren Ichinose."
Shinya raised an eyebrow, "Ha." His voice lacked amusement, "You were talking about obeying orders not long ago."
"What are you suggesting we stay here? I have no desire to stay here only to get slaughtered by vampires for no reason." He walked off and a bunch of people followed,
Shigure turned to Sayuri, "Sayuri, we should go too. The orders aren't by Guren so we have no need to follow them."
"Oh." Sayuri seemed conflicted before following Shigure, "Sorry Shinya, bye everyone." Sayuri shot us an apologetic look,
Shinya looked up at the sky, lost in thought, before cursing, "Narumi, wait-"
"I thought I made it clear that I wo-"
"Ah shut up would you? I was going to say we should all abandon the mission together." Shinya said irritatedly, "We'll be ignoring the orders from the top and going on a mission to rescue, Guren Ichinose." He announced,
There were gasps and cries of joy, I smiled at Mito and Goshi.
"Let's come up with a plan then." Shinya sighed, "As you stated the vampires were right behind us, now imagine us running back into them."
"Yes sir!" Everyone chorused,
"Oooh, General Major Shinya, how noble of you!" I bumped my arm into Shinya and winked,
"Shut up." He said chuckling,
As the squad leaders gathered with Shinya, I went over to Kimizuki, Mitsuba and Yoichi, "Yuu hasn't woken up yet?" I glanced at the comatose Yuichiro on Kimizuki's back,
"Nope." Yoichi sighed,
"He must be heavy, sorry you have to endure that." I turned to Kimizuki,
He shook his head, "It's nothing, I'm sure I can handle lugging his fat ass around for a while longer,"
"Ah it must be tough." I looked at him apologetically,
"Ugh, I have to wake up to you guys bitching about me, what's happened?" Yuu's eyes opened,
"Thank fuck." Kimizuki put him down immediately,
"HEY, YUU! Do you know how much we've gone through because of you??" Mitsuba immediately jumped to him,
"Huh?" He stared at her,
"You overdosed on the pills given to us by the Lieutenant Colonel, then you got possessed and ran away to save Guren! We had to get you before it was too late and finish the mission!"
"Guren's not been rescued?" Yuu's eyes widened as he looked alarmed,
"No, but we're going to save him, so don't try and do it all by yourself, ok?" Yoichi smiled,
"Oi, idiot Yuu-" I began,
"Huh? Y/N, you're beginning to sound like Guren." Yuichiro turned around,
I rolled my eyes, "Listen, you're not invincible or a superhero, ok? You're still human so don't give us a scare like that ever again, alright?" I softened my tone at the end,
"Oh, sorry for worrying you all, I just couldn't accept the fact we were leaving Guren. Sorry about all the trouble I've caused." He hung his head, I smiled and pat his head,
"My back deserves a sincere apology too." Kimizuki furrowed his eyebrows,
"Haha, shut up." Yuu said sarcastically,
"Hey!" The 2 began to bicker and I giggled smiling at Yoichi and Mitsuba.
During the commotion a quiet sound which gradually got louder caught my attention, I looked up and found a plethora of aircraft heading in our direction.
I ran up to Shinya who already seemed to be trying to identify the aircraft himself, "Shinya, what's going on?"
"Has the backup found us?" Goshi narrowed his eyes just as the rest of Shinoa's squad ran up to us,
"Yoichi!" Shinoa nodded at him and he nodded back summoning his weapon,
"Wait!" Shinya interrupted, "It's our backup."
We headed to where they were landing and watched as they offloaded. I saw Aoi Sangu stepping off the aircraft, which only meant one thing. I tensed up as I saw Kureto step off the plane after her.
He looked around and when we made eye contact he smirked, I lowered my gaze in disgust with a scowl on my face.
He stood before all of us and began by introducing himself, "Your hard work is highly appreciated, we will take it from here so please disarm."
Everyone around us seemed pleased by those words and quickly disarmed, although those of us who knew the type of person Kureto was knew better than to disarm our weapons,
"Kureto, it's about time you explained what's going on."
"I have nothing to explain to you, Shinya. You have no part in this." Kureto responded calmly,
"What the he-"
"Where's Guren?" Kureto intercepted Shinya's next question with a question of his own,
"He was captured by the vampires." Shinya lowered his head sadly,
Kureto laughed dryly, "Ha, is he stupid or-" he paused, "Hm, what personality was he?"
My eyes widened and I stared at him in confusion, Shinya seemed to be equally as confused,
"Haha, what's with that face? Don't tell me he hasn't told you."
"What are you talking about, Kureto?" Shinya growled,
"Oh, judging by your face he hasn't told you either, Y/N." he smirked at me, "Ah, well it doesn't surprise me. He's always tried to look perfect in front of his friends and comrades." He shook his head as if he was reminiscing about Guren even though he was doing anything but that,
I was seething at the mockery and nonsense he was spewing out, what does he mean by personality? Was he trying to get into my head? Is Guren hiding something? I was so frustrated, I felt tears pricking at my eyes,
Mito came next to me and held my hand giving it a squeeze, sensing my discomfort; I smiled at her warily,
"What is he talking about, Mito?" I asked her in bewilderment,
"I have no idea, I'm not as close to Guren as you and Shinya."
"Anyway," Kureto dismissed, nonchalantly, "Aoi, let's get started."
