There was a tense silence, the couple wasn't able to keep their eyes off of me. I sighed, I have to tell them why, but will they listen? Or will they fear me more? I keep thinking the ladder, but when I voiced why, something unexpected happened.
"You guys want to know why I was Transfured? It was because I was a carrier of the plague- which, I think you guys are immune to since you two are still existing. This scientist was telling me that if I became a Transfur, I would still be alive, and that's why. Without his help, I would have died the instant I left the lab." The couple stayed silent, but Luigi nodded.
"It's gotta be rough out there, Colin. Have you found any other humans or Transfur?" Luigi asked after a moment.
"Yes, and Puro and I encountered a human, a grizzled old man. He was extremely depressed, and all he wanted was to be alone." I got a sickly and depressed feeling remembering him.
"What I keep wondering is, where is Puro? You found him in the woods alone, eh Luigi?"
"Yes." Luigi replied.
I was frozen. "I.. I don't know what happened to him. This wolf guy took him away. He didn't look like he was made of latex or anything."
"Saucious Necronos! He is not a latex, but he wanders these woods and gives us stuff. Rumor has it, he's searching for one whom will bring us peace. Maybe that's what happened to Puro." May sparked with excitement.
"Lin! I am so glad I found you! These woods are not a safe place, and I believe I was extraordinarily lucky to have found you alive, instead of a frozen corpse. Or hell, you in general!" Luigi hugged me, and May laughed.
Dinner was ready before we knew it, and we ate. I was tired from everything that happened that day.
As I entered the guest room, fatigue hit me harder than a rock. I collapsed onto the bed and was out in an instant.
I awoke to a deep voice calling my name. My back was stiff and hurt falling asleep hanging off of the bed. I looked behind me and I encountered the wolf that stole my love.
"Lin.. Feel free to feel remorse and or anger toward me, but I believe Puro is going to be crucial for our future. His intelligence is much greater than I expected, but since he's in an affair with you, I think his training is going to stop here. Expect him around early tomorrow afternoon. And here-" He lifted me onto the bed, and stroked my face with is soft, giant paw.
His body markings started to illuminate. "I believe my time over here is short. I'll talk to you later and stay strong, Lin."
He vanished, but upon waking I found something in my hand. It was a piece of- No a Polaroid picture. It was a picture of me holding a beer and a portable speaker. Then a memory came back to me.
First it was the Norwegian death metal, then the bitter taste of alcohol, then waking up in the hospital the next morning with a concussion. Lastly, it was just Luigi and I. I still wonder what happened, and why I awoke in the hospital the next morning. And I believe he was the one who took that picture.
I noticed something on the back, some familiar handwriting actually.
"Stay determined human, I'll be back soon, love! -Puro." I felt warm upon assimilating those words. I'm glad Puro is safe.
