We're back from break and I was happy that his schedule was the same.
But I also noticed something new today.
On his wrist , he was wearing a bracelet.
Not just any bracelet.
A couple's bracelet.
The beaded ones that come in a black and white pair.
They were the trend at the moment.
and he had one.
He brushes the hair out of his eyes as he cranes his neck to check if the train was anywhere in sight.
The sun glistens against the king crown bead on the bracelet.
I feel my stomach drop at the confirmation it was exactly what I thought it was.
Was it that girl from New Year's?
Who bought it?
Did he initiate it? Was he romantic?
Or maybe she was a crazy girlfriend that made him wear it? Did he hate these types of things?
For a while, I imagined us being a couple.
I imagined that we had matching bracelets.
I imagine how whenever someone asked me who had the other match, I would say it was the guy who rode the 7:50am train.
My heart hurts.
Because in the end, I'll never be his queen.
