Wanda could never keep her eyes off of you, now matter how hard she pretended. The way you'd walk into that diner like you owned the place, clad in your leather jacket as you slipped into an empty booth without waiting for anyone to place you there.

She was always wedged into her usual table in the corner with her friends, all chatting away. And her gaze would be on you as soon as you walked in, feigning interest in whatever her friend was saying while her eyes flickered between you, and the conversation. Whenever you looked back over at her, she'd look away as if she was good at hiding it. You found a small smile tugging at the corner of your lips at her. She was sweet, far too sweet to be into someone like you.

It wasn't as if her parents had ever told her to stay away from people like you - it was just unspoken. You'd always be in the papers, and on the tips of the tongues of everyone at her synagogue that liked to complain about how their town was going to the gutter. She'd seen you around, outside her school. Your group would hang around across the street, leaning up on motor cycles and old cars, chatting aimlessly until you'd move onto your next spot, or brawl, or whatever you did. All of the kids in her classes would whisper about you, how you were good-for-nothing, what you'd done recently, or that, hey, some of you were kind of cute.

As the waitress strolled up, you gave her a once-over, flicking your lighter open. Your eyes dances with mischievousness as you lit your smoke, a smile tugging at the corner of your lips. You pulled it away from your mouth, your order languidly dripping from your lips, arm slung around the back of the booth.

Wanda couldn't help but want to be in that spot right next to you. She watched intently, across from you exactly. She hated sitting in the middle seat, because her eye-line was right where you were. She couldn't help but stare.

Your eyes flickered over to her, and then back to the waitress, a smirk on your lips. Wanda couldn't help but flush slightly, looking away and back to her friends.

"What's up with you, Wanda?" Steve asked, a curious tinge to his voice. Across from him was Bucky, who was now watching her with equal expectation.

Her lip caught between her teeth, momentarily not caring that she'd smudge her cherry lip gloss, "Nothing," She shrugged him off, "What's up with you?"

Steve rolled his eyes with an amused huff, "You clearly have something on your mind."

"More like someone," Bucky teased with a smile, and Steve raised an eyebrow. His friend simply gestured over to where you sat, "She's had eyes for that girl for a while now."

Wanda smacked his hand down quickly, the bridge of her nose and her cheeks heating up, "Don't point, Bucky. She'll know we're talking about her." She looked down at the table, smoothing out her red skirt in bashfulness.

Bucky and Steve shared a laugh at her demeanor, but neither were mean enough to tease her more.

"She seems like trouble," Steve observed, hands clasped together on the table.

"I know," Wanda admitted with a hint of guilt to her voice, "I just can't help myself."

Bucky shrugged in response, "I guess that's what people thought about me before you spoke to me, Stevie." His hands reached over to squeeze the other boy's, but made sure not to linger.

Steve couldn't help agree, quickly moving his legs from where they were tangled with Bucky's as a waitress in a white apron approached, carrying a tray in her hand. Both boys straightened up.

"Hi there, I'm Trudy. That lady over there sent this to you, on the house," She smiled, tucking a strand of blonde hair behind her ear, before placing a strawberry milkshake in front of Wanda, "For you."

Wanda spluttered, "Wh-What did she say?" Her cheeks were now officially red.

"Just to give you this, too," Trudy pulled a folded napkin from the tray, depositing it next to her new drink.

Wanda was sure this wasn't an ordinary thing to do, but you had your charms, clearly. "Thanks," She managed to say, before the other girl slipped away.

Once she was out of hearing distance, Bucky immediately unabashedly asked: "What does it say?"

Wanda was practically shaking as she unfolded your note to her. Written on it simply, was another address that she didn't recognize: 62 Arizona Avenue. Beneath it, was your handwriting, neater than she expected.

'Meet me here tomorrow at 8 if you want to do more than stare at me', followed by a heart.

When Wanda finally had the courage to look up at you, a couple of your friends had arrived and were already making a ruckus. You were eating a bunch of chips from your plate, a satisfied smile on your face as your eyes connected. You tilted your head, waving casually at her, a breezy look on your features.

Bucky had grabbed the napkin from her hand after a moment, laughing in disbelief, "This is the address of Howlers, the bar on the other side of the neighborhood. Are you seriously gonna go?"

Wanda didn't have to think for long before she knew her answer.

"You came," You remarked with an impressed smile, eyes gliding over her. She was wearing a pretty floral dress, with puffed sleeves and red lips. If she carried on looking that beautiful, you were sure things were going to get complicated.

Wanda didn't know how she was going to keep from constantly blushing at your attention. "Yeah," She tucked a curl of brown hair behind her ear, "Can I sit?"

"Of course," You gestured to the seat across from you, watching as she shifts slightly, her purse tucked to her side. A finger ran along your bottom lip slowly, distracted. "Want anything?"

"A drink?" She blinked, almost surprised, "I don't really . . ."

You chuckled at her, your tongue touched to your palette, "I could've guessed. It's okay, darling." You remarked with eyes on her.

For some reason she wanted to impress you. You were inherently intimidating to everyone except for your friends, but she didn't want to seem lame to you. She wasn't legal, but neither were you, and neither were all her classmates that got wasted on their parents' alcohol. "I mean . . . if you want to order for me again . . ." She trailed off.

You smiled at her response, eyes twinkling. If she wanted you to take control, you weren't going to argue. "If you don't go up to the counter, you don't get anything here," You told her, excusing yourself to tell the bartender your order.

She watched as you walked over, combat boots hitting the linoleum floor, before you were pressed up against the bar counter. You weren't dressed in any special way; black jeans with a big buckle, a tight short vest, and your leather jacket on once again. And yet, you seemed to catch everyone's attention with the way you held yourself. She could tell that you already had the bartender wrapped around your finger.

Once you'd brought the drinks back, you handed Wanda hers. Her lips wrapped around its straw as she took a sip, tasting something sweet and fruity and strong.

"That's the only nice drink they have here," You told her.

"And your drink isn't nice? Why would you have it?" She scrunched her nose up, looking at the dark liquid in your glass, clinking softly with ice cubes as you took a gulp.

You simply looked amused in reply, offering out your drink for her to try. She tentatively wrapped her fingers around it, contemplating it.

"This isn't motor oil, is it?" She joked, allowing a bit of a smile to slip out.

You chuckled, "No, I'm fueled by something different than my car," You leaned back with open hands, "Coke with a lot of rum."

Wanda sniffed it, and it wasn't exactly appealing. She tried it before she could think twice, the burning taste making her cough, a hand coming up to her mouth, "Jeez!" She exclaimed, "I can't drink like you guys can."

You smirked, taking back your drink, "Who are 'you guys'?" Your eyebrow was raised, feigning innocence, when she knew you were kidding.

Butterflies pooled in her stomach. You were so magnetic. She wanted so desperately for you to stop looking so self-assured and amused, and to start kissing her. Hard, preferably. "You know. You and the friends you hang out with. You tend to have quite the reputation," Wanda remarked, heart beating with the way she teased you. She was so out of her comfort zone.

"So I've heard. You listen to all that talk?" You pried, fingers tapping the table as you contemplated it. You liked Wanda, but you needed to know if she was talking to you for you, or your reputation.

"The talk can be wrong. They've said some nasty things about me and my brother . . ." She remarked dryly, a tone of seriousness to her voice for the first time that you couldn't help but find attractive, "So; not all of it. But I think they might be right about a thing or two."

"Like what?"

"You are even hotter up close," She checked off, this time causing you to blush, despite how your stoic features hid it, "And you seem all kinds of naughty."

"Is that so? Wouldn't you like to find out for real?" You asked her, eyes peering into hers as you leaned forward, tantalizingly slow.

Wanda could feel her cheast tighten as she flushed, pretty lips parting to say, "Maybe."
