"Katsuki-kun, look! Isn't it cute?"

Bakugou turned around when he heard his name being called, only to flinch when he saw the kitten. Jumping back, he pointed a finger at the white feline, screaming. "Get that shit away from me!"

A pair of (e/c) orbs peeked out from behind the kitten, her brows furrowed with curiosity. She glanced from the kitten to Bakugou and back to the kitten again, her grin growing when she realized the reason behind the blonde's outburst.

"Katsuki-kun," She drawled out, causing said male to flinch. "Don't tell me you're afraid of a kitten?"

Bakugou froze when he heard the teasing tone at the end of her words. He could imagine the smirk on her face, ready to taunt him for fearing that stupid feline!

Masking his inner emotions, Bakugou's lips curled into an arrogant smirk as he crossed his arms. "Tch! As I'm afraid of a stupid shit like that cat!"

"It's a kitten Katsuki-kun, not a cat." The girl gave the blonde a deadpan look.

"O-Of course I know it's a kitten!" Bakugou was quick to defend himself. "Do I look like an idiot to you, dipshit?!"

The girl let out a sigh, bringing the kitten down to chest level. "Does it hurt not to call me dipshit every time? I've a name you know."

"Whatever, I can't be bothered to remember names of worthless beings!" Bakugou replied as sardonic as ever.

"But I'm your friend, Katsuki-kun." The girl pouted, giving the blonde a puppy look.

Bakugou faltered at the way how the (h/c)-haired girl looked at him – her (e/c) orbs twice their usual size, her bottom lip pushed out into an adorable pout.

'Shit! She looks so cute looking like that.' Bakugou couldn't help but think that way, only to mentally slapped himself after catching himself. 'Why the f*ck will I think about that dipshit this way?! She's nothing but a dipshit!'

"Katsuki-kun, are you okay? Your face is red." The girl asked out of concern, taking a step closer to feel his forehead for the temperature in case he was coming down with a fever.

If it's possible, Bakugou's face became even redder at the close proximity. Taking a huge step backwards, he held out a hand that began sparking. "If you take another step closer, I'll blast your face!"

A light bulb went off in the girl's head, as though she had discovered all of life's questions.

"No wonder you're not feeling well. You're being too angsty and it's not healthy for you."

"WHAT THE F*CK DO YOU MEAN I'M ANGSTY YOU PIECE OF SHIT?!"

"Here, hold the kitten. Maybe it'll help you to calm down." The girl plopped the kitten in Bakugou's arms before he could even say anything.

The blonde's head immediately bent down to look at the kitten in his arms, blinking at the feline which stared back at him. Both stared at one another, caught up in their own bubble.

"Meow." The bubble broke as the kitten nuzzled into Bakugou's chest, purring.

Bakugou immediately panicked, unsure of what to do. He glanced up at his friend helplessly, silently demanding her with his eyes to remove the kitten from his grasp.

However, the girl was too busy taking pictures with her handphone to notice the distress signal the spiky blonde was sending her way. "Oh my gosh, don't move Katsuki-kun! I can't let this moment go to waste without at least taking a few photos!"

"Get this f*ucking shit away from me!" Bakugou hissed, afraid that if he was to shout, he would scare the kitten.

"Hmm," the girl hummed thoughtfully before giving him a cheeky grin. "Nope! Besides, you look more adorable this way. Less angsty too!"

"For the last time, I'm not cute nor angsty! Get this f*cking cat off me now or I'm gonna blow its ass to outer space!"

"Katsuki-kun, I told you already it's a kitten, not a cat. Also, you can't do that because it'll be considered animal abuse. Now, don't move."

Bakugou could only stand there fuming silently, his eyebrows twitching now and then as the girl continued to take pictures of him with the kitten who was happily snuggled in his arms.

Ring! Ring!

"Shut the f*ck up you annoying piece of shit!"

A male with spiky blonde shouted as he picked up the alarm clock and threw it against the wall with all his might, causing the clock to break upon on impact. With a satisfied grunt, he laid back down, pulling the blanket over his head – ready to fall back to sleep.

However, it was useless when his mind was still wide awake with the dream that he had. No, it wasn't a dream, but a memory. A memory from his younger days – back when he had only discovered his explosive quirk.

A frown settled on his face at the memory – an (h/c)-haired girl with sparkling (e/c) eyes smiling back at him as though he was the only thing that mattered to her.

Is it that time of the year again? Bakugou questioned as he stuck a hand out from beneath his blanket, blindly searching for his handphone on the beside table. His fingers curled around a familiar rectangular metal, bringing his hand back into the blanket.

Squinting his eyes from the sudden brightness, he checked the date on his handphone. Sure enough, it was the time of the year.

That explains why the memory surfaced in my dream.

His eyes widened when he saw the time. If he didn't get out of bed now, he was going to be late for school. Throwing his blanket aside, the blonde got ready for another typical day at U.A High.

Time skipped brought to you by Bakugou's ripped muscles

"Ah! Kacchan, I'm so sorry! I didn't see you!"

Bakugou's eyes twitched in anger, his hands curled into fists at the side of his body. Instead of being a good friend and helping the blonde, Kirishima was simply laughing at the situation that Bakugou was in.

Midoriya trembled in fear, his feet glued to the ground. He was rushing late for class that he didn't notice Bakugou who was walking in the opposite direction of him and bumped into him, spilling his drink all over the said male.

The green-haired male expected to be met with explosions and a bunch of curses thrown his way like the usual norm. However, none of that happened. Instead, Bakugou simply glared at him before pushing him out of the way – making his way to the boys' changing room.

Kirishima laughter subsided as he stared at the retreating back of Bakugou, his eyes blinking. His mouth hung opened in shock when he realized that Bakugou, who usually would have made a big fuss, instead, he brushed it off as though it was nothing.

The red-haired student pointed a finger in the direction that Bakugou had gone and glanced down at Midoriya who had an undecipherable look on his face. "Midoriya! Did you see that? Bakugou just...he just..."

Midoriya didn't reply as he stared at the spot where the blonde-haired student was a while ago, trying to figure out why he wasn't his usual self. His eyes widened when he remembered what day it was today.

That explained why Bakugou wasn't his usual self because it was the day he lost someone closed to him.

It was the day he last saw her.

***

"What the f*ck do you mean she's missing?!

"Bakugou-san, please calm down." The teacher tried to calm the agitated blonde, but it was a hopeless attempt as the boy refused to listen to her words.

It had been a week since (Name) hadn't turned up to school and her teacher was worried sick, so she called her parents to only learn that the girl had been missing for days.

Her parents asked the teacher to ask around the class when was the last time they saw her. Many of them said it was when class ended for the day and she left the school compound with both Midoriya and Bakugou.

Since Bakugou was the last person that (Name) hung out with before she went missing, the police approached the young boy to question him. However, it was futile because the last time he saw his friend was when she left the park to go home.

That's when they came to the conclusion that (Full Name) was officially missing. Heroes had been sent out to find the missing child, but after a year of searching, they gave up.

Ten years had passed and till today, the girl was nowhere to be found. Soon, everyone assumed she was dead. All but one.

Bakugou Katsuki refused to believe that his friend was dead, she had to be alive. After all, she promised him that she would see him at school and deep down he knew that (Name) wasn't one to break a promise.

Soon, he too began to give up thinking that she was ever alive and came to terms that the girl who was his only friend was no more.

The locker door slammed shut, the banging sound echoing throughout the empty changing room. Bakugou stood there, dressed in a fresh uniform, the dirty one kept in his school bag.

A towel was resting over his head, wet locks sticking to his forehead. Letting out an annoyed grunt, the boy dried his hair and dumped the wet towel in the waste basin.

"It isn't your fault, Bakugou-san. You couldn't have predicted that such a thing will happen."

"If I had walk home with that dipshit that day, she would've still been here! I could've prevented her from going missing, but I didn't because I trusted her which was the most f*cking foolish thing I've ever done!"

"I should've walked you home that day, but I didn't," Bakugou muttered, his hands curled into fists, the nails digging into his skin. "It's all my fault."

"Tch!" The blonde gritted his teeth as unwanted memories sprang to mind no matter how hard he tried to suppress it.

He let out a gasp when he felt a sudden pain in his chest. He clutched his chest with one hand, his once neat and pristine uniform now crumbled due to the tight hold. Without even knowing, Bakugou had punched the locker, leaving a dent where his fist once was.

His back met the cold metal of the lockers as he slid down onto the floor. Hugging his legs close to his chest, he wrapped his arms around them and buried his face.

This way no one could see the tears falling as his quiet sobs filled the empty changing room.

The bell rang, indicating another day at school had come to an end.

"Remember tomorrow we'll be having a special lesson, so make sure you turn up for class." Aizawa reminded the students of Class 1-A who gave a chorus of "yes", acknowledging that they had heard their teacher.

The pro hero slung his yellow sleeping bag over his shoulder and gave his students a blank look. "Alright, class dismissed."

In a blink of an eye, he was out the door and heading down towards the teacher's lounge in hopes of getting a needed nap.

The screeching sound of chairs being pushed back could be heard as students got up and packed their belongings before mingling with one another. Chatters filled the classroom – everyone talking about anything and everything.

"Yo! Did you hear about the new café that open recently at downtown?" Kirishima asked as he slung an arm around Bakugou. "We should totally go check it out! What do you say buddy, just you and me?"

"I'm not free today," Bakugou grunted, pushing off the red-haired's arm from around his neck.

With that, he picked up his bag and made his way towards the door, leaving without so much of a backward glance.

Kirishima stared at the now empty space by the door, his head tilted to the side as he furrowed his brows in confusion. He noticed that there was a different vibe to the blonde where he wasn't his usual aggressive and violent self. In fact, he seemed almost closed off.

In fact, Bakugou didn't even go out of his way to tease Midoriya like he usually does.

Midoriya was chatting with Uraraka and his usual group of friends when Kirishima approached their circle, a lost look on his face.

"Kirishima-kun, are you alright?" Uraraka asked, a concerned look on her face.

The red-haired didn't answer the gravity quirk girl, instead, he directed his attention onto Midoriya, asking a question that had been on his mind the whole day. "Ne Midoriya, is Bakugou okay? He doesn't seem like his usual self."

"Now that I think about it, Kirishima-kun has a point." Iida, Class 1-A's president, frowned. "In fact, I didn't even see him go after you like he usually does."

All three pair of eyes turned towards the green-haired boy who took a step back, silently questioning him about their explosive classmate 's strange behaviour. Green orbs darted left and right, looking at the eyes that were staring at him with big, round eyes – as though he held the answers to life's hardest question.

Midoriya let out a sigh, closing his eyes as an image of a girl with sparkling (e/c) eyes smiling as bright as the sun popped into mind. The trio glanced at one questioningly when they saw the sad smile on their friend's face.

Uraraka placed a comforting hand on Midoriya's shoulder, a small smile on her face. "Deku-kun, it's alright if you don't want to tell us. We didn't mean to intrude, we're simply just curious."

Eyelids fluttered open as green orbs stared into brown orbs, causing the petite girl to blush at the intensity. He gave her a reassuring smile, replying, "It's alright, it isn't in my place to tell you Bakugou's story, but I can tell you my story."

All Might's successor turned to face the other duo, a hint of sadness reflecting in his eyes. "Ten years ago, on this every day, both Kacchan and I lost a close friend of ours who went missing. Till this day, she's still yet to be found. But since it's been so many years, everyone presumed she was dead."

"Then why don't you seem as affected as Bakugou?" Kirishima frowned.

Midoriya let out a humourless chuckle. "That's because she was the first ever person who wasn't afraid of Kacchan. In fact, she was the only one that Kacchan cares about other than himself."

Time skipped brought to you by Bakugou's explosive burgers

The bell that was hanging above the entrance rang, informing the shop owner that there was a customer.

The old lady who ran the flower shop, lifted her head to welcome the customer. Her eyes widening with recognition when she realized who had entered her shop. "Welcome Bakugou-kun. It's nice to see you again. I have the flowers that you ordered readied already, just give me a moment to take it out from the backroom."

The blonde gave the old lady one of his rare smiles. "Thank you, oba-san."

"Don't mention it." The old lady placed the pair of scissors that she had been using to trim some flowers down and stepped out from behind the counter, making her way to the back of the shop.

Bakugou watched as she disappeared into the room located at the back of the shop before walking out with the flowers that he ordered a week prior. He couldn't help but feel a slight ache in his heart when he saw the flowers – reminding him of the person that he lost so many years ago.

They were her favourite flowers – (f/f).

If the old lady saw the way how Bakugou swallowed the lump that had formed in his throat, his eyes glossy with unshed tears, she didn't comment on it. Instead, she focused on wrapping the flowers, her fingers working quickly but held an air of carefulness.

"Here you go." The shop owner smiled and handed the bouquet over to Bakugou who accepted it with a small smile.

He looked at the flowers, turning it left and right, a satisfied smile on his face as he thanked the old lady. "Thank you, oba-san. They're really beautiful."

The old lady looked at Bakugou with a small smile, her age-wise eyes glimmering. "She must have been as beautiful and radiant as these flowers."

Bakugou tore his eyes away from the bouquet, replying with a sad smile. "She does. The flowers remind me of her smiles – radiant as the sun, making her more beautiful than she already is."

After paying the old lady, Bakugou bid her farewell and continued towards the destination he had in mind since he left UA High. Holding the bouquet carefully in his hand, he made his way to the cemetery.

It was a beautiful day – only a few clouds drifted lazily across the bright blue sky, allowing the sun to bathe the earth in its warm glow. The streets were bustling with people, mainly students since most schools had ended for the day.

In short, it was one of those days that put people in a happy mood. All, but one.

Bakugou stopped by the crossing junction, waiting for the red man to turn green. He glanced up at the sky, a group of birds flying past him.

The man turned green, letting the pedestrians know it was safe to cross the road. The blonde snapped out of it when he felt the crowd around him began moving. His focus returned to the front and let the crowd carried to him the other side of the road.

Cradling the bouquet in his arms, he was careful to not let it be ruined by the jostling crowd.

After another 15 minutes of walking, Bakugou finally arrived at his destination. The city noise faded away as the sound of nature took its place. The cemetery was located on the outskirts of the city, far away from buildings and people.

The vast greenery spread out as far as the eyes can see, surrounded by nature where only the sound of birds chirping and the rustling of leaves could be heard. It was the perfect place for the departed souls to have their eternal rest.

Bakugou closed his eyes and took in a deep breath of the clean, crisp air. He released a breath that he didn't know he was holding and entered the cemetery.

The blonde had no difficulty in locating the right tombstone, considering he had the route ingrained into his mind since he had been coming here every year. Besides, her tombstone was the easiest to spot since it's below a willow tree.

His footsteps came to a halt as he stood in front of the weathered tombstone. It was a white marbled tombstone, kept simple just the way how she would've like it. On the tombstone was her basic information such as the name, the birth date and the date that she went missing which was today.

On the tombstone was a picture frame which Bakugou brought and left it there when he first paid a visit.

It was her most favourite picture. It was taken during summer back in their elementary school days.

His lips curled into a nostalgic smile, the day that the picture was taken was still fresh in his mind. He remembered being forced by her to take the picture. In defiance, he refused to smile for the picture.

In the end, the corners of his mouth were lifted by her fingers – forming a smile that didn't quite reached his eyes.

Bakugou gently placed the bouquet of flowers on the tombstone before sitting cross-legged on the grass. There were so many things that he wanted to say, but he didn't know where to begin. So, he sat there in silence as he stared at the tombstone.

A breeze picked up, causing the leaves on the willow tree to rustle. A few stray leaves fell from their branches, swaying in the air before landing softly on the grass. The scene reminded Bakugou of a memory from a long time ago.

Fall was coming to an end where trees were starting to lose their leaves, preparing for the oncoming winter. Two kids – a boy and girl – were sitting beneath a tree, warmly dressed for the chilly weather.

The boy with spiky blonde hair had a bored look on his face while the girl with (h/l), (h/c) had the exact opposite facial expression.

"Katsuki-kun, for the last time, if you don't tell me what happens, I won't be able to help you!" She frustratedly points at Bakugou who honestly gave no shit. "I can't read your mind!"

Bakugou, as his usual self, got triggered and shouted back. "Well, it ain't my fault that you're quirkless, you dipshit! Maybe if you aren't quirkless then you'll be able to read my mind!"

The girl immediately facepalmed at Bakugou's words, her palm sliding down her face, giving him an exasperated look. "You idiot! Even if I do have a quirk, I still won't be able to read your mind unless my quirk is telepathy!"

"Who you are calling an idiot, you f*cking idiot!"

"Argh! I give up!" The girl threw her hands into the air and glared at the blonde. "You're impossible, Katsuki-kun!"

"Tch!" Bakugou glanced to the side, feeling annoyed but scaring her off was the last thing he wanted. So, he took a deep breath to calm himself down, mumbling, "Stupid shit, it's not that I don't wanna tell you, I just don't know what to say."

(E/C) orbs widened with surprise before giggles escaped from her lips. "Pft! I can't believe it! You should've just said so from the beginning."

"Shut up!" Bakugou turned to face the girl, growling with a red face.

Her laughter dissolved – her lips forming into an encouraging smile as she held out a hand towards the blonde, saying. "Why don't you just start from the beginning, Katsuki-kun?"

And that's what Bakugou did. He started from the beginning – sharing his day with her, right down to the smallest details so that nothing wouldn't be left out. Even when the sky had turned purple with the evening sun, Bakugou stayed and kept talking until there were stars twinkling in the night sky.

Just like what he did back then with the girl.

Even when you're no longer physically here with me, your words still give me encouragement, (Name).

Unknown POV

Somewhere in the darker side of the city where people who used their quirks for bad intentions lurked, there's an abandoned shop where two figures resided.

"Tomorrow is the day where we'll make our move, so everything needs to be perfect in order for the plan to go smoothly." Light scratching sounds filled the quiet room. "I presumed everything has been taken care of?"

"Yes, master. I've done everything as you ordered me to."

The figure glanced down at the girl who was standing before him, her head bow as she waited for further instructions. His lips curled into a sinister smile as his scratching intensified. "Good."

"Is there anything else you need from me, master?"

"No, you're free to go." The figure replied as the girl turned around, her back facing him. But before she could take a step further, he spoke up again. "I know you've been waiting for a long time for this day, but you need not wait anymore."

The girl tilted her head backwards, her (h/c) locks falling into her eyes – (e/c) orbs held an evil glint as she replied, her voice barely a whisper. "I'm ready, master. All you've to do is to say the word and I'll tear down anyone who gets in the way of your plans."

The scratching sound picked up again, filling the room once more. "That's my child."

"Soon, the world will fear me when they hear my name – (Full Name)."

I was listening to music while working on this story and the song "Epiphany" by BTS came on when I was writing the flower shop scene where Bakugou felt an ache in his heart when he saw (Name)'s favourite flowers. I literally stop writing and just sat there in my chair, staring at my laptop screen while willing myself not to cry.

Here's a tip: don't listen to a sad song while writing a sad scene if you don't want to put yourself through the emotional turmoil like I did.
