This sucks!

It's Tuesday and I'm stuck at home! I can't go out. I can't even go down stairs!

All because of that man!

I was finally released Sunday morning. Just a twisted knee and ankle, plus the crack in my head. I refused to let Roman help me up the stairs. It was so painful, but I persevered through it.

I had collapsed on the bed and I haven't moved since, except for the occasional wobble to the toilet.

I had all intentions of going to work on Monday, but the look on Roman's face had me pulling the blankets up to my chin.

I had waited till he left and got dressed and called for my driver. 'Sorry, Mrs Parker, but Mr Parker said you are not to go anywhere,' those were his words.

So I searched high and low for my keys. I could not find them any where.

I was exhausted, I had tears from the pain. I had found my phone next to me when I woke this morning after I obeyed Roman's stupid request last week to forfeit it.

I rang Roman.

"No, Grace, you're not going anywhere." Then he hung up!

I screamed at my phone in frustration and tried again.

"Grace. I'm about to head in to a meeting."

"Where are my car keys?" I asked him.

It was several seconds before I spoke again.

"Roman, where are my car keys."

"Here." I heard the jingle of keys through the phone.

"You're a..." He hung up on me again! "Bastard".

So Monday was me sitting in bed, pissed at him.

Tuesday, I tried again. But Roman wouldn't have a bar of it.

I was up, I had a skirt on, tucking in a white and orange blouse when he caught me.

"Do you wish to be completely bored today? Because I will take the phones as well." He threatened me as he dug through a drawer.

I sighed and sat back down on the bed. "I won't wear heels." I said in a desperate attempt.

"No." Was all Roman said as he did up his tie. "I'll be back in a couple hours. Don't move off that bed." He picked up a remote control and pushed a button, making a television appear from inside the foot of the bed.

I stared at the TV as he put the remote next to me and left.

Another boring day. Why couldn't he do that trick yesterday?

I got changed again into my cotton pyjama pants and a singlet and crawled in to bed. I flicked through the channels lazily, not watching anything in particular.

I chatted with Dean, then Macy. I rang mum and spoke to her. But all in all, that only took about three hours and I was bored again.

I heard the front door open and shortly afterwards, footsteps on the stairs. I stayed laying down, my back to the door.

"I gathered you were hungry." I heard Roman say as he put something down on my bedside table and walked in front of me, he took off his tie and disappeared again.

I looked behind me and saw some cheap plastic containers and a fork and water.

I sat up and peeked inside.

Indian. Yum.

I was famished.

I ate the food, in bed. It was so good! I felt slightly better now I had food in my stomach. I decided to ring Isabelle back about Saturday.

"Ah, Mrs Parker. I hope you are feeling better?"

What? "Yes, thank you. I just wanted to apologise about Saturday."

"Oh no, Mrs Parker. Your husband rang and told us that you had a medical emergency, he apologised for any inconvenience and that you were really looking forward to attending."

"Oh." It was all I could say. "Have a good day."

"You too, Mrs Parker."

I ended the call and let the phone slip out off my hands.

Is she sure that Roman rang her? That doesn't sound like him.

Speaking of which, where did he go?

I let the curious feeling take over as I thought about what Isabelle had said.

But the more I thought about it, the more unrealistic it sounded.

It wasn't long till sleep took over and I dreamt of crazy things.

Roman's P.O.V

"But I'm bored!" Grace whined to me as I got ready for work.

"No." I snapped at her. She wanted to come in today and I wasn't at full ease about it.

"What am I going to do today? I don't want to stay in bed all day again!" She got up and walked around, in her loose pants and a tank top. "I can walk fine. I promise I won't wear heels for the rest of the week!" She begged me.

I wanted to relent, but I kept my ground. I have been finding it harder and harder to say no to her. I've been filled with guilt over the whole incident.

She groaned as she sunk in to the bed. "I'm over being stuck in here. It's like a prison. I can't leave the community because your little spies will tell you!"

I smirked at her as she huffed out, blowing a strand of hair and crossing her arms.

"Stop sulking. Other people have it worse than you, doll." I grunted at her and her eyes snapped to me.

"Don't call me that!"

I shrugged as I pulled on my jacket and doing the button.

"This so unfair!"

I went to her and looked down at the sulking thing.

"I don't care how unfair you think this is. I said no. End of discussion."

"You are purposely making sure I don't work! I want to so I can help my father pay that money so I can get rid of you!"

I pulled her up to me as she gasped in shock.

"Baby, it could be two weeks, a year, or even twenty, but trust me, when the day comes, you won't be the only person celebrating."

Grace pulled herself out off my grip as she fell on to the bed. She laughed and let out a small snort. "You don't even know how to celebrate! Like I said, at the end of the day, I will be with the ones I love and you will be alone!"

I stormed out off the room and went downstairs.

I stopped at the stairs, thinking about what I had said. She had laughed at me! I wasn't harsh enough on her then. I turned and went up the stairs and to the door, I must not have shut it completely.

Then I heard a sniffle. I slowly opened the door. The sniffle became a sob. I frowned. Was Grace crying?

She sat on the bed, her back to me as she cuddled in to her knees. I saw her shoulders rise and fall as she cried.

Why was she crying? I thought to myself. I went to say something, but something told me not to. I felt a slight pain in me and I backed away, still hearing her cries.

I went downstairs to the kitchen and took my phone out off my pocket.

"Katie. Cancel all my meetings today." I hung up and placed my laptop bag on the kitchen counter.

I placed my hands behind my head and took in a large breathe of air.

What am I going to do? I felt bad, really bad, hearing her cry. I took my hands down and shoved them in my pocket as I paced the kitchen. It's bad enough I feel guilty over Friday, but now I feel miserable. I've heard women cry before, but none of them affected me like Grace just did.

There was no point going to work. I won't be able to concentrate now.

Grace had a report that was due Monday and from what I had gathered from Frank, she was done and I had pushed the meeting back to Friday.

I was going to allow her to come back to work on Friday.

I went back up the stairs to find the bed empty. Grace walked out of the bathroom, while drying her face.

Her cheeks were still a bit red, as were her green eyes.

Wait, green? I've always seen her with gold eyes. Does she wear contact lenses?

"What are you still doing here?" She mumbled to me.

"Get dressed."

"For work?" Her face lit up.

"No."

I saw her face drop. "No." She said as she walked back into the bathroom.

She came out with out the towel this time.

"Get dressed." I said again.

"Whatever for?" She sneered at me as she curled up on the bed.

"Because I told you to. Now get up and get dressed or I will dress you, and trust me princess, you'll be wearing the first thing I find!" If I knew anything, it was that fashion was one of her passions. "No heels!"

"Fine!" She growled at me and I left the room.

Twenty minutes later, she was downstairs. "What do you want? I guess you want to taunt me? Tell me that you own me? Keep me in my place? Prove to me that you can leave whenever you want?"

She hissed at me with hands on her hips.

"Just get in the car, Grace." I groaned as I went to the front door.

She looked surprised, but was happy to oblige.

She went to my car and I stopped a few steps in front of her and threw her car keys at her. .

She snatched them up and stared at them, amazed at what she saw.

"What is this?" She asked in fascination.

"You said you're bored. So let's fix that." I muttered to her.

With wide eyes, she looked at her keys in her hand to me. "And I can drive?"

🌸

Grace's P.O.V

I smiled widely as I sat in the driver's seat. "Momma has missed you, baby." I whispered to the steering wheel.

I waited till Roman got in, it was like I had a choice.

I started her up and she purred for me. I smiled wider. As soon as Roman buckled up and closed the door, I put her in gear and went to the gate.

As soon as we left the gates, I put my foot down and giggled. I saw Roman grip his chair and it made me smirk.

"Where are we going?" I asked. I know I'm driving driving but I had no idea where to go.

Roman looked tense as I slowed down. "You reckon I can't have fun, so show me fun."

I grinned from ear to ear as we sped of. It wasn't long before I pulled in to a bowling alley.

"Why are we here?" Roman asked, his nose scrunched up.

"To have fun!" I laughed as I got out.

We went inside to the main desk and I waited expectedly for Roman.

"Right." He mumbled and pulled his wallet out.

"Don't be so frugal!" I grinned as I snatched his wallet from his hands, leaving him with a surprised look.

"Two people, one lane, please." I told the person being the counter. I told him my shoe size and Roman followed.

We took the shoes and went to an empty lane. Roman was up first and we played a game, him loosing miserably.

"How was that?" I asked as we left.

"It was okay, I guess." Roman mumbled.

I unlocked the car and got in. "You're just sour because you lost." I teased as we left the place.

"Great. Let's go home."

"Oh no!" I giggled as I gripped the steering wheel. "I'm in control." And I loved it. "For once." I muttered to myself.

"Fine." Roman sighed as he gripped his seat again. "Where to now?"

I giggled again. I didn't know, I was just so excited I got my car back. I merged on to a highway.

"Where are you going?" Roman asked me.

"It's a surprise." Think, Gracie, think. Rock climbing? An arcade? A theme park? Then an idea hit me.

I followed the signs and eventually turned off the highway.

"So, you are not exactly wearing the proper clothes for this next activity." I said gradually.

"What?"

"Trust me. I know what I'm doing." After a couple turns, I pulled in to the next destination.

I got out and jumped in excitement. I haven't been here in years.

"Go karting?"

I turned to him and nodded. I wasn't going to let him get me down. I had a day of freedom and I wasn't wasting a second. Roman leisurely walked behind me, his hands in his pockets.

"Come on!" I squealed at the gate for him. He finally caught up and I paid for a race. Well, I made Roman pay for a race.

I watched the other people race as we waited our turn.

I squealed when it came and I was handed a helmet as I sat in the kart.

"Don't be a party pooper! Get in!" I indicated to the empty kart next to me.

Once everyone was settled in their karts, the lights flashed red, then orange then finally green.

I giggled as I drove off, laughing as the wind whipped my hair and face. I over took the two karts in front of me and was quite proud of myself.

We were on the last lap, I wasn't game enough to look behind me, I believed it jinxed me.

I could see the checkered flag. "Come on Gracie!" I yelled to myself. I was just about to make it when another kart over took me. They had won the race. I pouted as I stared in to the broad back.

Once I stopped I got out off the kart and walked up to the winner. A tall and wide man took his helmet off and I did the same, freeing my hair.

"Hey," I smiled at him.

"Hi," He breathed out. His tall sun kissed body was muscle and I wanted to quiver.

He smiled at me and I stretched out my hand, tucking the helmet under my other arm.

"Good race. Well done." I grinned as he took my hand.

"How about a victory dinner?" He asked me and I felt my knees go weak.

Could we skip dinner? My eyes lit up. Suddenly I felt an arm around me as I looked at the owner.

"Yeah, great race." Roman said as he held me.

"Roman, stop it." I hissed at him, trying to push him off.

"Is he bothering you, miss?" The blonde man asked me.

Miss? Please let me be your missus!

"No." I whispered.

"He looks like he is." Both the tall beach hunk and Roman stared at each other.

"Sorry. But she's taken." Roman spat.

I tilted my head. What's this?

"Yeah, who are you?" He replied back.

Roman took hold of me again. "I'm her husband." Then he dragged me away. We placed our helmets at the desk and left the race track.

Roman had a dark look on his face as he went to the car. I followed him and unlocked it.

"What was that about?" He sneered at me.

I got in and sat down. "It's called good sportsmanship, Roman. Where you congratulate the winner and accept your defeat." I started the car up and drove out.

"You were clearly ogling him."

I frowned as I pulled out in to the traffic. "Ogling? I wasn't." Was I?

"You were drooling."

"Whatever." I breathed out.

We were silent as I made my way back to the highway.

"I think we are done for the day." My mood had taken a 180 degree turn.

"Not yet."

"I'm not in the mood." I replied to him.

Roman sighed. Was he jealous? I wanted to laugh. Why would he be. He has clearly made it clear that I'm nothing but his insurance policy.
