One of the words I could use to describe Eris is that he is spontaneous. He is really the most spontaneous guy I've ever met.
We were just watching a movie in his condo when suddenly he blurted those two words that made my heart stopped.
"Marry me." He said nonchalantly while playing with my fingers.
I gaped at him then realized my mistake. He is joking. Like before! Ayan nanaman siya sa joke na 'yan.
"Pagiisipan ko." Sabi ko.
"Bakit? I'm good for you. I have a good family background, stable job, good personality, and I have a very badass ride." Inisa isa niya sa darili ko.
Sasagot na sana ako pero nagdagdag pa siya. "And I love you."
"Fine. Yes. Happy?" I rolled my eyes. "Now, can I watch my movie in peace?"
He nodded like a child.
Doon nagsimula ang lahat. Pagkatapos nun halos araw araw niya akong sinasabihan na pakasal kami. And my answer is consistent. Laging yes and never no.
"Marry me?"
Nasanay na ako sa kanya kaya agaran ang sagot ko manahimik lang siya. "Sure."
"So what kind of wedding do you like?"
Naisip ko na 'yan at napagusapan na namin ni Rachel 'to. She would be the one to plan my wedding but without all the complicated stuff. I'm more on a simple side and Rachel is the one who wants all kinds of stuff so we really compliment each other when it comes to things like this.
"Simple lang basta nandun mga close friends and family ko. Ikaw ba?"
Nagkunyari pa siyang nagisip kaya nagexpect ako ng matinong sagot but once again, hindi na ako nasurpresa sa sagot niya. "Basta nandun ka okay na."
"Sana hindi na ako nagtanong. Ano nga?"
"Seryoso ako! Basta sumipot ka at I do mo lang okay na sa akin. I don't need a grand celebration. Gusto mo ikasal na tayo ngayon pwede rin." Ngisi niya.
"So what's next after ng kasal?" Nakiride nalang ako sa kanya. I'd like to see how he think and maybe I could get an idea.
"While wearing your dress, sasakay ka sa motor ko. We could go chasing sunset. Or sa tapsi. O hindi kaya punta tayo sa campus."
"Hmm.." I nodded while smiling. He looked cute while telling me all that because he is smiling like he is imagining it already.
"Or just drive till we run out of gas. I might teach you how to drive too. We could runaway and never look back. Anong tingin mo?"
"I think you watched too much TV. Ang traffic traffic dito sa Pilipinas plus judgemental pa mga tao. Also, runaway and never look back? Mamamatay na tayo sa gutom." Ang sinabi ko pero deep inside medyo kinilig ako at natutuwa ako dahil naiisip na niya ang future niya kasama ako.
"There goes my plan. Thanks for ruining it."
"Realistic lang ako. Masyado ka kasi mahilig manood ng TV kaya ganyan."
He then rolled his eyes at me and I just ignored him.
Ako talaga 'yung realistic sa amin dalawa at ang mas mature. I can bet all my money on this. He just looked mature on outside but his inner child is always out when he's with me. Hinahayaan ko lang siya pag tinamaan siya ng kakulitan dahil minsan lang niya nagagawa 'yun.
He has to be the mature son in front of his parents, the mature boss in the office and the mature boyfriend outside but when it's just the two of us his inner child never rests.
And I'm fine with it because at least that way I know he's comfortable around me. He doesn't need walls around him when with me and I like it. Because I'm the same with him. Hindi ko kailangan itago mga bagay na hindi ko masabi sa iba dahil alam kong full support siya sa akin.
And despite that we love each other. I think that's the the best kind when you know you accept each other quirks.
"But don't worry papakasalan pa rin naman kita. Malakas ka kaya sa akin." Sabi ko habang tinataas baba ang kilay.
"Weirdo." He chuckled.
Okay so maybe we are both childish.

Then suddenly we were both busy. Bigla akong nagkaroon ng big client. Si Rachel ang nakakuha ng gig. According to her this client plans to surprise his girlfriend. Habang tinitignan ko ang plan na ginawa ni Rachel nagsink in sa akin ang isang thought.
"Is this a proposal? Oh my God! I love proposals!" I exclaimed.
Ngumiti siya. We both love proposals. I like simple proposal hindi katulad ng mga nakikita ko na OA and this is simple.
The guy is planning to do the proposal in a condo penthouse. Nakapagpaalam na rin sa admin and they said okay so wala nang problema.
I'm excited. I just hope the girl say yes.
"So when do we meet this guy?" I said as I flip through the plan.
"Actually nameet ko na siya. He is a very busy person that's why he need us."
Bigla naman ako nalungkot, a proposal without the guy's involvement? Basta nalang siya luluhod at sasabihin ang line na "will you marry me". Ugh I'm not gonna be a big fan of this guy. Nawala ang pagkakilig ko.
Pinagusapan nalang namin ang mangyayari at sa akin pinasa ni Rachel ang pagpili ng color and flowers.
Fine. Since I love my job and I love proposals ako ang nagasikaso ng lahat and I just pass the task of talking to the client to Rachel because I'm not sure I could fight the urge to roll my eyes at the guy. So much for effort.
Later that night nagrant ako kay Eris.
"Can you imagine? Siya ang may plano pero hindi man lang siya involved sa planning. I don't know! And I never met the guy."
He just sigh and shake his head. "Maybe he is really busy. At least he is making an effort." Sinamaan ko siya ng tingin then he grunted. "I mean he is planning something!"
"I just hope we could pull this off. I chose almost all the colors and I just hope same kami ng taste ng girl at magustuhan niya."
"I'm sure she will. You're the best planner anyone could ever have." He said while finger combing my hair and I can't resist but to lean on him.
"I'm so tired." Papikit na sana ako pero tinapik niya ako.
"Don't sleep. Hahatid na kita kung inaantok ka na."
Tumaas ang kilay ko. Wait.. I know I said that I will never sleep in his condo again but it was half truth anyways but to hear it from him? Wow. Anong meron?
"Pipikit lang hindi ako matutulog."
"Kahit na. Mamaya tulog ka na. Kilala kita kaya tumayo ka na dyan. Ihahatid na kita pauwi." Tumayo na siya agad. I stretch my hand para magpahila sa kanya.
I faced him when we were both standing. "Bakit mo ba ako pinapauwi? Nagdadala ka siguro ng babae dito. Do you have a secret girlfriend I'm not aware of?"
"Babe, if it's a secret of course I won't tell you."
Ok now I'm serious. I gave him the most deadly look I could achieve.
"Seriously? Nababaliw ka na." He chuckled.
"Eh bakit pauwi ka ng pauwi sa akin? Dati naman okay lang sayo."
"It's not... proper." He lost his confidence at the last word. Even Eris finds his reasoning ridiculous so how could he expect me to believe that?
"Fine!" I held my hands up.
He just gave me a really apologetic look. "Babe, wala akong tinatago sayo. I just have to close a very important deal. Babawi ako sayo. I promise."
I became soft instantly. Of course busy rin siya. Maybe he is doing something but stopped because I came just to rant about unimportant things.
"Good luck." I gave him a peck on his cheek. "Wag mo na ako ihatid, mag grab nalang ako. Just do what you have to do. Text nalang kita."
"Are you sure?"
Tumango ako.
He didn't try to argue so meaning busy talaga siya. And it's fine. Alam ko naman na hindi na kami tulad dati na laging may time sa isa't isa.
Okay na ako na binigay niya sa akin ang konting oras niya para lang pakinggan ako.
I'm actually glad that his world doesn't revolve around me. I mean there's us but there's more outside. I don't want a guy that do whatever his girlfriend ask him to do because she said so. I want a guy who can make his own decisions in life and do things that makes him happy.
So I don't try to stop him in whatever. And likewise. And so doing this proposal plan and thinking of Eris. I know that Eris is the guy I want to marry in the future.
