We arrived at H & W Mechanics we got out of Desmond car and walked inside Ariel looked up at us.
"Thank you for coming?"
"Why you didn't call your boyfriend?"
"I don't have one D and you know that."
"How much is it going to cost?"
"I have no idea your dad is still looking at my car."
"Why you didn't let me get your oil changed when I changed Haze's oil?"
"I wasn't thinking."
"Should've just let me change your oil."
"Okay D I get it."
Mr. Wilson came from the back with a grim look on his face.
"Ari it's time for you to let your car go."
"No pops I had it since I was 16."
"I know but it's time Haze had to do the same thing 5 years ago."
Ariel sighed.
"Fine."
"What's wrong with the car pops?"
"The motor is completely shot, the air don't work anymore, the radiator is gone, the transmission is gone and if I fix it it's going to be close to $20,0000 so instead of spending that much on an old car she can get a new one."
"Alright thanks pops."
"You're welcome hey David."
"Hey Mr. Harold."
"I would talk longer but I have to scrap a car and fix a tire."
We all nodded Mr. Harold walked back through the door he came in.
"Haze know you're late?"
"Yes I told her."
"You make as much as she do and you didn't buy yourself a car."
"Look that Toyota Camry was my first car that I ever brought and she was my baby okay I wasn't ready to get a new car."
"Well you're getting one today and I'm paying I don't care that you got your own money."
"What will your hoes say?"
"I don't have hoes anymore."
"Yeah right and that's Dave East behind you."
"I am Dave East."
"Oh shit yo my best friend Hazel loves your music."
"That's what's up."
"Are you in Atlanta for a show?"
"Nah I just purchased a house out here."
"Oh okay well once you get settled in you should come by Lyric House of Beauty."
"Nah that's for women only."
"No it's not men come and get their hair cut too."
"I'll think about."
"Okay."
"Come on let's go get you a Mercedes."
"No I want a Ferrari like Haze."
"What color?"
"Purple."
"Alright."
We walked out of Mr. Harold shop and to D Aston Martin Ariel got in the back even though I insisted on her getting in the front.
"I need a hair cut."
"Go see my bestie Haze she'll hook you up," Ariel spoke.
"Is she any good?"
"Nigga she's a master at them clippers plus she's my little sister."
"Alright take me to her shop."
"Okay."
About 20 minutes later we arrived at Lyric House of Beauty I got out then Ariel got out getting in the passenger seat D drove off. I walked up to the door and opened it. I walked inside seeing men and women sitting down waiting.
"Hello welcome to Lyric House of Beauty do you have an appointment," the girl at the desk asked.
"Nah."
"Okay what do you want done?"
"I need a haircut and my beard to be lined up."
"Okay follow me the owner Hazel is free right now."
I followed behind the girl as soon as we walked to the main area. We walked up to a woman who was scrolling on her phone.
"Haze this gentleman needs a haircut."
She looked up from her phone and nodded she stood up and told me to sit down.
"What time is my next appointment?"
"45 minutes."
"Okay."
Hazel put the smock around me.
"Have you washed your hair?"
"Yeah this morning."
"Okay."
Hazel put the white stripes around my neck then turned me away from the mirror.
"I'm Hazel the owner of this establishment."
"I'm David or Dave whichever you prefer."
"Okay so Dave what made you come here," she asked.
"My homeboy Desmond and Ariel was telling me about this shop and since I'm in Atlanta might as well get a hair cut and line up."
"I didn't know you knew my brother and best friend."
"Me and your brother been friends for about a year or so now and I just met Ariel today."
"Oh okay."
After combing out the lil hair I had I heard the clippers turn on and Hazel got to work. We made small talk as she cut my hair Ima bring my mama and Kairi here once we get settled in so they can have a girls day.
Hazel
I'm just about done with cutting Dave's hair then it's on to lining up his beard.
"I heard that you love my music."
I glanced at Dave as I stood in front of him.
"Not heard you was told by Ari right," Dave licked his lips at me.
"Yeah."
"Well I do your love your music it's pretty dope."
"Haze Chris wanted to know can you come out to LA to cut his hair," Britney asked.
"What times do I have available today?"
"4:00 and 5:00."
"Okay call him back and let him know that I'll be there at 5:00 and have Brooklyn to come along so she can do Royalty nails and toes."
"Okay."
"And before you leave Britney what time do I go to lunch?"
"1:00 you have clients from 12:00-12:30."
"Alright."
Britney walked away and I finished up with giving Dave a line up I told him to tilt his head to the left side.
"My shit better be looking right."
"Dave don't underestimate me because I'm a woman I'm great at my job as you can see."
"You have what a few celeb clients?"
I laughed.
"A few nah I've worked with everyone in the industry even your guy Nas."
"Okay I see you're popping."
"Of course I am."
"How long is it going to take you to line my beard up?"
"Uh 15 minutes."
"Damn."
"Got somewhere to be Mr. East?"
"Just gotta get back to New York."
"Well Ima make sure you leave looking handsome then before."
"So you saying I'm ugly."
I laughed.
"No not at all handsomer isn't a word."
"Oh okay."
"How much will this be?"
"You'll know when I'm done."
15 minutes later
I handed Dave the handheld mirror he smirked as he checked himself out.
"Damn girl D wasn't lying when he said that you're a master with the clippers."
"Been cutting his hair since I was 16 once he showed me how to cut his hair before I went to cosmetology school."
I took the wraps from around Dave neck and bawled up the wraps then I took the smock from around Dave and shook the rest of the hair off. Dave stood up and looked in the mirror.
"Can you get out of my mirror?"
"Nah love I can't stop looking at myself."
I shook my head and grabbed my broom to sweep up the hair that fell Ari walked in with D D right behind her rolling her hair suitcase.
"Wassup baby sis."
"D I seen you already."
"I know."
D walked over to me and kissed my forehead Ari station was right next to mines.
"Thanks for buying my Ferrari D you didn't have to."
"I like I said before it's no problem anything you want you know I got you me and Dave about to head out."
"Alright big bro don't forget what I said this morning."
"I'm not lil sis bye ladies."
"Bye Desmond."
Ari began to set up while I walked to the front with D and Dave I walked behind the desk.
"How much is it this fire ass hair cut?"
"$15."
"Damn that's it?"
"Uh yeah you already washed your hair so I didn't have to do it."
"So if I would've gotten my hair washed how much would it cost?"
" $20."
"Oh okay," Dave went in his pocket and pulled out his wallet.
He handed me $50.
"You gave me too much," I said.
"I know it's your tip beautiful."
Dave and D walked out of the shop I handed Britney the money and she placed it in the cash register I made my way back over to my station to sit down and wait on my next client to get here.
