First Person (Your) POV:
The air is cluttered with the sounds of small talk and the clinks of baccarat crystal champagne and whiskey glasses. I stand near the window in the corner, observing all the people around me, dressed in finely tailored dress robes. It's gala season again and all the millionaires and billionaires are here in New York City to attend each and every gala because all of them are so "charitable". A server in a black tuxedo comes up to me and hands me a champagne on a silver tray. I thank him quietly and take it from him. I sigh as one of my past friends, Natasha Soryns, comes up to me and starts to make small talk. She's the daughter of a notorious loan shark and the only reason she's here is to make her family seem unsuspicious.
She begins to talk about her vacation in the Hawaiian islands and I tune her out as the doors to the lavish ballroom swing open and a new wave of guests come in. At the head of the group is a tall, handsome blonde man. He's young and his hair is carefully swept to the side and he's wearing all black dress robes, which sharply contrast with his platinum hair and pale skin. I blush a bit. He's breathtaking. I walk across the ballroom with Natasha closer to the mysterious man. I finish my champagne and hand it back to a different server and listen to him as he begins to talk to a much older man near the side of the room.
"Whiskey," he says calmly to the woman at the bar. "On the rocks or neat. Surprise me."
He has a flowing British accent and I feel my heart flutter.
"British accents am I right?" Natasha scoffs. "So pretentious. My daddy always said you can tell the character of a British guy you're doing business with by his accent a-"
"Hah. Yeah...," I reply with a short laugh, not really paying attention to her. I stare at his profile and sigh. He's really hot.

"What are you looking at? Are you even listening to me, y/n?" Natasha snaps, snapping her fingers in my face. '
"What?" I say, blinking my eyes at her.
"I was just going on about British people and how-"
"Oh, shut up, Natasha. You're making nasty generalisations again. It's ridiculous and it's a bad habit of yours, but I guess it suits you, looking at what sort of business your family is in," I sigh, pretending to be polite. She gasps and storms away to the other room where her dad sits. I roll my eyes and turn the other way to find the guy staring at me. The waiter hands him his whiskey and he raises it up to me slightly as if to say "cheers" to me and me alone. He smiles warmly and the butterflies erupt in my stomach again. Why is he doing this to me?

Our gazes meet for a moment and I feel us connect. He takes a sip of his whiskey. He's smirking, obviously satisfied with something, but I'm too distracted to figure out what. Why am I feeling like this? I don't even know the guy!

I straighten myself up again and brush down my front. I walk over to the opposite corner of the room again and try to strike up a conversation with another woman in hopes of escaping the mysterious man. This woman is a fashion designer who is releasing her next line in a week. She's talking about the materials she used and how expensive they were. I try to listen, but my eyes wander back to the blonde man. I circle around the room, making the boring, posh small talk everyone is making.
I notice a woman come to stand next to the guy. She has dark brown hair and is wearing an emerald green dress. She's sort of ugly if I'm honest. Her face looks like a dog's. She edges closer to him.
"Oh, Drakie!" she cries, petting his arm enthusiastically. He edges away, a bit reluctant to have her touch him, but my mind begins to flood with questions about this woman's identity.

She attempts to take his hand and he sighs, linking his fingers in hers. My heart sinks. I put my head down and turn away from them. Moments later, I feel someone standing behind me.
"Hello," someone says as I turn around. It's him and my stomach takes flight. "My name is Draco. Draco Malfoy. Who might you be, beautiful?"
"I-I'm y/n y/l/n. It's a pleasure to meet you, Mr Malfoy," I stutter, blushing a bright, rosy pink colour. He reaches down, taking my hand softly. He raises it up and plants a gentle kiss on it with his lips. I turn away, entranced by him.
"Draco!" a scratchy voice almost shrieks from behind him. He turns around calmly to see the dog-faced woman. She's fuming. "Who is this?! Why are you kissing her?!"
"Pansy, calm down. I am being social. That's what you're supposed to do at galas and you have no right to control how I interact with others!" Draco says sharply as the woman named Pansy's ears turn red.
"But I don't like it! I'm your girlfriend!" she spits, saliva flying from her mouth. She's his girlfriend?! Her?

"Oh, Pansy. Stop! You are here because my father wanted me to take someone to this gala! He says it's improper not to have a date and I didn't have a choice!" Draco groans. "We are never going to be together! We tried that at Hogwarts and it didn't work! Please stop trying to be with me and find someone else to be happy with!"
She huffs and storms out the entryway, tripping on her dress as he tries to gracefully sashay away. Draco turns to me, sighing nervously.
"Hey, sorry about that," he sighs. "I didn't want to have her here, anyway. I hope that me sending her away like that doesn't change anything between us."
"It doesn't," I reply softly, giving him a smile. He kisses my hand again and I blush harder. he smiles wider.
"Hey, this place is getting boring. There are too many old rich men chatting about the weather and the stock market. Let's say we get out of here? Grab a bite to eat somewhere nice on me?" he asks.
"Sounds wonderful, Mr Malfoy," I reply.
"Please, call me Draco," he says.
"Alright then, but you have to call me y/n."
"I think I can manage that," he smirks as he takes me graciously by my waist and leads me out of the hall like a gentleman.
