Sitting in the Hufflepuff common room, you begin to doze off in front of the warm fire with a honey-coloured blanket wrapped around you. You jolt awake when you feel something prod you sharply in the shoulder.
"Y/n!" you hear Hannah Abbott's voice says, a note of urgency in it. "Y/n! Wake up!"
"Huh?" you mumble, blinking your eyes open. "Wusgoinon?"
"Y/n! Come on! Get up! It's important!" she hisses.
"What's so important that you disturb my nap! This is probably the only no homework weekend we'll ever get and I plan to spend it eating, sleeping, and not thinking about anything remotely important or academic," you say, finally looking into Hannah's eyes.
"Come with me. Trust me, you'll think it's important once you get there," she says, crossing her arms. You groan and throw your blanket off of you, folding it carefully in your arms.
"Follow me, y/n. We have to hurry. He's been insufferable even though it's only been ten minutes," she sighs, taking your hand and pulling you out of the common room swiftly. You both walk out into the hallway and she pulls you up a couple flights of stairs. You both arrive at the hospital wing and she rushed you inside.
There, you see Zacharias Smith lying down in a hospital bed, his arm, leg, and faced bandaged, groaning in pain.
"Oh, my God," Hannah sighs. "He's complaining again. It wasn't even that bad."
You and Hannah rush to Zacharias's bed.
"What happened?!" you gasp.
"Y/n! Thank god you're here! I knew you cared!" Zacharias gasps overdramatically.
"Well, duh. You're my friend," you say with an eye roll. "What happened anyway?"
"He got in a fight with your boyfriend over there," Ernie Macmillan sighs, joining the group. "He confronted Malfoy when he was leaving the Great Hall. He went up to him, shoved him, and went off about how he 'deserves' you. Crazy, right? And one of the most idiotic things he could have ever done."
"Zacharias! How could you?" you shout at him.
"Sorry, y/n. I gotta do what I gotta do," he shrugs. You grumble and cross your arms in frustration.
"This isn't over, Zacharias. I'll be talking to you later about this," you say.
"Of course, because Malfoy's in much worse shape!" Susan Bones says, walking in.
"What?!" you shout.
"Yeah. They broke out into a fight after that. At first, it was wands and stuff, which Malfoy was winning at so Zacharias body slammed him and took his wand. Malfoy actually got beat pretty bad, but he did a really good job at holding up against Zacharias. In the end, Zacharias took out his wand again and hexed Malfoy," Ernie explains.
"Where is he?!" you cry and Hannah points to a hospital bed with privacy drapes hanging around it. You rush to it and open the curtain, your heart sinking when you see Draco. He has no shirt body is bruised all over. His left arm is bandaged and there are blood stains on the wrapping. His head is wrapped around the forehead and he has a black eye. He stirs gently and opens his good eye.
"Y/n?" he mouths, raising a hand to reach out to you.
"Draco!" you gasp, rushing to his side. "Oh, my God! Are you okay? Oh, look at you! I can't believe Zacharias did this to you!"
"Well, I should have seen it coming by the way he was walkin' towards me," Draco shrugs. "I had it coming, too, after all those years of treating then like that I deserved it."
"No, you don't deserve it. He was coming to you because of me," you sigh. "The others told me he was trying to fight for me."
"Well, yeah, but-"
"Then it's partially my fault!" you interrupt. "I didn't tell him there was no chance of an 'us' between him and me."
"No, don't say that, y/n. It's only his fault. I just feel embarrassed that the other guy isn't beaten up worse than me," Draco sighs. "My father would kill me if he'd known I'd lost a fight with a Hufflepuff."
"Hey!" you snap. "No Anti-Hufflepuff language like that allowed!"
"Sorry, babe," he laughs. You stand up and reach over for a bottle by his bedside. You take a rag and pour some of the liquid on it, open up one of Draco's bandages, and dap the scrape and cut lightly with it. Immediately, the scab begins to heal.
"There we go, Draco," you smile. "That must feel a whole lot better."
"Yeah. It really does, y/n. You're too good to me," he sighs happily.
"Well, I'm your girlfriend, after all," you smile.
"Thank you," he praises. "I feel well enough to get going now. No need to spend any more time in the hospital!"
"No, no, no!" you say, gently making him lean back against the pillows again. "You still have hurt legs, a bandage around your head, and a back eye. You need to wait!"
"Fine... As long as you stay here with me?" he asks hopefully. You nod and sit back don by his bedside, kissing him gently with a smile on both of your faces.
