Draco's POV:
Leaning against the railing of a staircase at Hogwarts with all the other first years, I look back behind me. They all look so afraid it's actually hilarious. The two oafs Crabbe and Goyle are with me again, acting stupid as always. I sigh from boredom. Is this really the place I'm going to spend my schooling? I wish Father had fought harder for me to go to Durmstrang Institute. This place seems like an absolute dump. Nothing good can come from here. A shaggy haired boy with glasses emerges from the group and stands at the front of the bunch. He's wearing a circular pair of glasses with big lenses. I know who he is. He's the boy everyone's been talking about for ten years. He's Harry Potter.
"So it's true then, what they're saying on the train," I speak up through the murmurs of my classmates. "Harry Potter has come to Hogwarts."
The crowd erupts with murmurs of "Harry Potter?", "The Boy Who Lived? Here?", and "Wow! Harry Potter's in my year!"
"This is Crabbe and Goyle...," I say, nodding my head to the big lugs behind me. "And I'm Malfoy. Draco Malfoy."
A bright red-haired boy scoffs from beside the Potter boy. I quickly redirect my gaze towards him.
"Think my name's funny, do you?" I spit at him. "No need to ask yours! Red hair? And a hand-me-down robe? You must be a Weasley!"
I straighten back up and look at Potter again.
"You'll soon find some wizarding families are better than others, Potter. You don't want to go making friends with the wrong sort," I say, shooting a smirk towards the latest Weasley. "I can help you there."
I stretch out my hand to Potter, prepared to lead him away from Weasley, but he only stares at me.
"I think I can tell the wrong sort for myself, thanks," Harry Potter says cooly. I look around as the other students begin to laugh at me, making fun of my embarrassment. My cheeks go hot and I feel a sharp tap on my shoulder and I spin around to see Professor McGonagall.
"We are ready for you now," she says pushing me to the side. I hiss under my breath as the other students file up the stairs and through a set of sky-high double doors.
"Hey," a voice says from behind me. It must be someone making fun of me! I whip around again, ready to shout at the person behind me, but I'm met with an unexpected smile. It's a girl. She has beautiful h/c hair and bright e/c/ eyes. She's gorgeous. I watch her as she takes a step back apprehensively, holding her arms in front of her. "S-Sorry," she says softly and I relax.
"No...," I say. "It's fine."
"Oh. I just wanted to say I'm sorry... Sorry about the thing with Harry Potter. I can understand if that was embarrassing for you," she says. "I would have been if that happened to me."
"It's no big deal," I say, trying to toughen up a bit. "I'm over it."
"Oh, good!" she says happily. "I'm y/n y/l/n. You're Draco Malfoy, I got that! It's nice to meet you!"
She walks forward and takes my hand in both of hers, shaking it lightly. I smile at her and I shake her hand back. Still holding my hand she pulls me into the Great Hall behind the pack of the other first years. Maybe this place isn't as much of a dump as I thought.

Resting my head in my hand, I wait for Charms class to end. It's another regular Friday at Hogwarts again. Everyone's loud and excited for the weekend. Despite being here for four years already, I'm still not used to how loud people can get. I sigh and plug my ears. I'm tired of the noise. I close my eyes and try to make everything fade away. Professor Flitwick stands on top of the mounds of books on his desks and dismisses the class. I sigh and pack up my books, leaving the class quickly with Crabbe and Goyle following close behind. I head down the hall, ready to head back to the Slytherin common room for a long nap, but a giggle cuts through the wair and I stop in my tracks. It's y/n.
After the first few weeks of first year, y/n became the most popular girl in the grade and has stayed that way ever since. At this point, she's so popular she's out of everyone's league in the whole school. She has her group of friends, who she's been very close to all these years. I've kept my crush on her and I've tried to ask her out a few times, but her friends always pull her away to the library or to her next class. One time, I had one of them come up to me and tell me she'll never come close to a guy like me, but that hasn't stopped me from liking her. Over the last few years of sharing some classes with her, I've learned how kind and caring she is. She's the ideal girl all of the boys in the school want: smart, funny, confident, and attractive. One of these days I know I'll get the courage up to ask her out right.
"Come on!" I hear y/n laugh. "We'd better go or we'll be late to meet the others in the library!"
Her friends smile and follow her out of sight. I sigh longingly. I wish we were on better terms.
"Malfoy!" I head Theodore Nott shout at me. "What are you looking at?"
"Nothing," I respond, heading in the opposite direction of y/n's friends to the Slytherin common room in the dungeons.
"I don't think that was nothing, Malfoy," Nott hisses with a smile. "You were stairng at something. You never look at anything with that much interest!"
"Come on, Malfoy. Tell us!" Blaize Zabini laughs. "You were totally distracted!"
"I tell you, it's nothing!" I spit. "I'm going to the dorm to take a nap. Stay out. I don't want you in there interrupting. The others back off and I storm into the common room and into the boy's dorms. I sigh and slam the door behind me. I walk over to my bed and kick my bedside table roughly. "It's hopeless!" I say to myself. I sit down on the bed and stare up at the ceiling.
"Why should a girl like y/n like a guy like you? You're trash! You couldn't even make friends with her in first year after she introduced herself to you!" I cry, tears beginning to spill down my cheeks. "She's far better than you'll ever be! You're not worthy of her! Not at all! She's nice and funny and you're nothing, scum under her shoe!"
"Draco?" I hear a voice say through the door. "Draco? Is that you in there?"
"Y-Y/n?" I stutter, wiping the tears from my face with my sleeve. The door opens and she walks in and sits right next to me on my bed. "What are you doing here?"
"I followed Crabbe into the common room and Goyle let me into the boys' dorms. They didn't seem to realise that I was me," y/n says. "Anyways, that's not important. I haven't seen you all day! What's wrong, Draco?"
"Nothing..," I say, but she sakes her head.
"I'm not convinced. Something is wrong. I haven't heard any report of you tormenting any underclassmen today. That's your hobby," she laughs. "Tell me what's up?"
"Well... It's complicated," I say.
"Nothing's simple, Draco," she says, crossing her arms. "Please tell me?"
"I'm not sure if I should...," I sigh shakily. I feel my stomach clench and roll around and it gets harder to breathe... I start to cry and everything seems hopeless Y/n... She's so perfect and I'll never be able to tell her how I feel...! I don't have a chance with her! Not in a million years! She's perfect! She's everything I could ever want in a friend or a girlfriend, but she's untouchable!
Suddenly, I feel a hand take mine gently and I feel y/n connect her lips with mine and I melt. I place my hands on y/n's waist immediately and kiss her back. She's a great kisser. Her lips are soft and smooth. She stops for a moment and pulls me into her arms.
"Shh...," she says soothingly. "Please don't cry, Draco. Tell me what's wrong. I'm listening."
"Well..., I say, wiping my face off again and looking into her bright eyes. "It's a long story..."
"That's totally fine, Draco. I have all the time in the world to be with you," she says kindly. I smile broadly and begin to tell her about the past few years, starting with the day we met.

It's been about two and a half weeks since y/n found me in my dorm room, crying, and we became an official couple. Y/n being y/n, we immediately become a sort of power couple. It seemed as though all of the boys in the entire school were jealous of me for being with y/n for some reason. All of them would always and still do look at us weirdly, whispering to each other, and then turn away once they meet eye contact with one of us, not to mention the many accounts of me catching some of the guys trying to hit on y/n while I go off to the loo or something. These few weeks of dating y/n have been some of the best weeks of my life. She brightens everything up and makes me happy. We have inside jokes and have our routine that we share. I always walk around and hang out with her and her group of friends now, despite the reluctance of her friends to accept me. Every day, I'm still surprised when I walk down to the Great Hall and have y/n kiss me on the cheek and I find myself thanking the world that Mother forced my father to send me to Hogwarts in the first place or else I would have missed out on meeting y/n, my soulmate and girl of my dreams.
