Third Person POV:
Y/n had always been popular at Hogwarts, but she wasn't like normal popular people. She was a nice, down to earth girl that everyone liked. She wasn't just smart, she didn't just make all of Hogwarts swoon, she wasn't simply one of the qualities most other "popular" people were. She was the complete package. Everyone hoped that she would be their girlfriend, but she didn't know it, which only made her more desirable in their eyes.
"Hey, y/n," most people who desired her would say. She would always turn to them, wave, and smile.
"Hello," she would reply, making whoever was in the vicinity blush a light crimson.
Almost all the girls at Hogwarts were exceedingly jealous of y/n. They all wished they had her smile, her looks, her calming voice, which every boy loved, and her impressive ability to charm people without even meaning to. Most girls would watch from the shadows as their crush's cheeks would turn red as y/n went by, which was an extremely common thing to happen.
One person who was particularly interested was Draco Malfoy. Everybody called him the Slytherin Prince. Becasue of his good looks and his ability to strike fear in his underclassmen's hearts, he had become popular amongst the Slytherins, but not anyone of a different house. People in Gryffindor, Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw mainly looked at him in disgust due to his habit of torturing their classmates and friends. Becasue of only being liked by those whose ties were silver and green, y/n was still far out of his league. She was out of everyone's league, but that didn't stop him from attempting to chase her. He would watch her during mealtime, fantasizing about what their lives would be like if he could only muster up the courage to ask her out to Hogsmeade. He imagined them being able to hold hands in the halls, laughing and smiling at each other, enjoying each other's company. He imagined surprising her on her birthday with chocolates, roses, and a crystal necklace and watching her shed tears of joy and giving him soft kisses on the lips. Sadly, this wasn't the reality. He was alone and without a girlfriend, despite having many other girls, mainly from Slytherin, desire him. Pansy Parkinson was one of them. Draco had never really liked her. She was far too clingy and made up nicknames for him which she would repeat incessantly.
"Drakie-Poo!" she would scream in an ear-splitting, high pitched tone that would shatter glass if it wasn't for anti-breaking spells put on many windows in the Hogwarts castle. She had many more of these names including ones like Drakie-Kins, Hunny-Bun, Malfie, Lovey Bug, Dray-Dray, and many more names that Draco wished he did not know by heart.
Today was another normal day with y/n sitting in the corner of the library, flipping through a set of the Brothers Grimm fairytales with Draco silently admiring her from across the room, pretending to be skimming the Daily Prophet.
"Okay, Draco. You've got this. Y/n's a nice girl. You have no reason to be nervous," he whispers to himself, trying not to have his shaking hands be too obvious. he slowly rises after getting a grip and tries hard to walk casually over to y/n's place. "H-hi, y/n..."
She looks up from her book and smiles softly. "Hi, Draco," she says sweetly, taking out a piece of parchment paper and placing it between the pages of her book. "What's up?"
"The ceiling," Draco responds, immediately regretting he'd said that.
What the, hell? he thinks to himself. Great! You just made an ass out of yourself in front of y/n!
Surprisingly, she giggles softly.
"No, really, Draco," she smiles. "How are you?"
"I'm well, y/n," he replies, relieved she didn't make him go away becasue of his stale joke. "Can I ask something of you?"
"Sure, Draco. What is it?" she asks, straightening herself up.
"Could I talk with you outside the library? Madam Pince has never liked me. She doesn't like it when I talk in here," he says, still embarrassed a bit.
"Sure thing, Draco!" she says, hopping up from her seat and leaving the library and heading for the hallway with Draco, completely unaware that a certain Slytherin girl had been watching them the whole time. Once outside the library, they head for the courtyard.
"What did you want to talk about, Draco?" she asks, walking slowly alongside him.
"Ummm... well, I just thought we should talk more often. Get to know each other a bit better y'know?" he blushes.
"Perfect!" she gasps happily. "I'm always looking for new friends!"
Draco smiles as they sit down on a stone bench together.
"In that case, I was wondering if you'd like to go with me to Hogsmeade the next time we're allowed in the village..., " he trails off, his hand beginning to shake with nervousness again. "Only if you'd like to y/n, you can say no if you wa-"
"NO!" a voice says suddenly, cutting through Draco's proposal. Pansy Parkinson comes charging out from behind a tall bush. "NO! DRACO'S MINE! YOU CAN'T HAVE HIM, BITCH SO GET YOUR FILTHY HANDS AWAY FROM HIM!"
"W-wha?" y/n gasps. "I didn't touch him! I didn't know you were together! I should go, Draco. You should be with your girlfriend... Sorry for being a trouble, Pansy."
"You should be, y/n!" she barks.
"No! Wait, y/n!" he gasps, trying to piece back the situation into a manageable state. "I'm not with Pansy. She's not my girlfriend!"
"What?!" Pansy screams. "Drakie-Poo! How could you say that?"
"Pansy, stop lying and go away. Let me talk to y/n and have some quiet!" Draco says, turning his back to her. In a huff, she storms away, her blood boiling.
"Soooo...," y/n says. "What was that all about, Draco? I'm not sure you're telling me everything."
Draco sighs. "I'm sorry, y/n... My relationship with Pansy has always been a mess. We were never really together. She's just super into me. This is going to sound self-centred, but she always has been into me. It's pretty annoying. Along the way, I guess she convinced herself that we were together. I've had a crush on you for a long time and I'd like it if you'd go on a date with me. If you'd still like to, of course, y/n. It's totally up to you."
Y/n smiles at Draco at his words.
"Thanks for being so open with me, Draco," she says. "Yes. I will go on a date with you. This weekend?"
"Really?!" Draco says, dumbfounded. "You really want to?"
"Yes!"
"This is the best day of my life y/n!" Draco says, getting up from his seat abruptly. "I'm sorry, y/n but I have to go! I need to get something special for Hogsmeade this weekend! Meet under the clock on Saturday?"
"Sure thing, Draco," she laughs, observing his excitement. "See you then!"
"See you then, y/n!" he calls rushing out towards the Slytherin dorms.
~~~~~
After that, y/n and Draco did go on that date and it was a huge success. After many following dates, y/n and Draco became boyfriend and girlfriend, and therefore, automatically the Hogwarts power couple, too. Everyone feared them becasue of Draco but loved the pairing becasue y/n was one of the two and they were generally an extremely cute couple. Despite everyone who wanted y/n being jealous of Draco and all the girls who wanted Draco being jealous of y/n, people loved them together. Pansy never left them alone after that, she would always try to sabotage y/n or destroy their dates, wanting to swoop in and steal Draco away, but it never worked and usually ended in pain and humiliation for Pansy herself. Y/n ended up still being the girl everyone wanted to date and the most popular girl in school, but this time, she had her boyfriend right alongside her to also be an envy of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
