First Person POV:
Absolute, utter mayhem. It's not even four minutes into the battle of Hogwarts and everything's a wreck. The ceiling is crumbling, spells are flying everywhere, screams and yells echo through the halls. People are falling, running, swarming everywhere. Deatheaters fly in, leaving dark, wispy clouds and residue in their wakes. It's a living nightmare. Everything is happening all at once and nothing makes any sense. It's all spinning around and nothing connects. I clutch my wand as I hurriedly run through the halls, avoiding spells and crumbling bits of Hogwarts that continuously fall from above. I round the corner and a hooded person appears in front of me, the same billowy smoke trailing behind them as they land. A Death Eater. They raise their wand.
"Avada Ked-" they start to shout, but I stop them in their tracks with flick my wand and send them toppling backwards. I run past them frantically, my mind swirling. I have no major role in this battle. I am not a catalyst that decided if Voldemort wins or if Hogwarts wins. I am only me, stuck in this battleground that's not even a battle I'm fighting. My only goal is to survive the night, to keep on existing, to live to see the sun rise again, to live to see Draco again. How I miss his face. His defined jawline, his silvery grey eyes, his perfect smile. Everything about him is absolutely wonderful. I love the way he laughs, the way he supports me, the way he can always understand what I'm trying to tell or communicate to him even if I don't say it. We're like two peas in a pod. We're each other's soulmates. A match made in heaven.
With Draco in mind, I desperately run through the halls, searching for that blonde hair that sticks out from the crowds. Above me, I hear a large, low rumbling sound. It seems to resonate out and vibrate from its centre. The crumble of stone becomes louder and I'm showered with light, tan dust. Larger and larger chunks come pelting down on me and I run forward, the adrenaline rushing through my veins and my heartbeat ringing loudly in my ears. I hear what was moments ago the ceiling crash down behind me. I head the scrape of rocks and everything goes quiet, with the exception of the battle which still continues in the corridors around the one I'm in. I topple over in front of the rubble breathing heavily. I prop my body up on my forearms, letting my head hang down towards the dirty floor. My cheeks twinging, I raise one of my hands to my face and bring it back down. Glistening, red blood stains my hands. Suddenly, I notice something. My other hand is empty. Where's my wand? I had it seconds ago. I push myself up quickly, jerking my head back and forth, searching for it desperately. That's when I spot in. Just on the edge of the rubble. Snapped in two, the core spilling out onto the floor. I let out a small wail of sadness and despair. Tears well up in my eyes. My wand is gone. It's useless. The wand I've had for years now. Destroyed.
"What am I going to do now?" I whisper to myself. "How am I supposed to protect myself? What's a witch without her wand, especially in a wizarding war of all things?!"
I catch cath breath shakily and prop myself up against a wall near the pile of broken stones.
"How can I expect to be able to see Draco again? The odds of me surviving this with no wand are astronomical!" I gasp. Voices echo from the other end of the hall and I snap back to my senses and run like mad, not sure where I'm going or what I'm trying to do. All I do is run. I turn the corner and shove myself into a broom cupboard. I grab a heavy, wooden broom and clutch it tightly and whisper to myself, "It's time to face the music, y/n."
I burst out of the broom cupboard and look both ways, determined to survive. I will see Draco again. I listen carefully and turn the way with the least amount of noise I walk down the hall and peer around a corner. Yells and the shouting of spells can he hear. I see four wizards engaged in duels at the far end of the hall. Closer to my location, halfway between the duelling wizards and me, I see him. Draco.
"It's me! Draco Malfoy!" he pleads, pinned up against the castle wall by a masked Death Eater. he's held and wand point. I can see the shiny sweat beads on his temple. "It's me... It's Draco..."
The Death Eater jerks Draco by the collar and in response, Draco gasps in pain. He's a bit beat up. His suit is all dusty and wrinkly, a big contrast to how it usually looks, neat and ironed, not a dust or dirt particle in sight. His hair is ruffed up and he's hut up and bruised a slight bit, and the Death Eater is definitely not helping the matter. Draco continues to plead with the cloaked man, trying to get him to release him from his tight grasp, but it's to no avail. The Death Eater tightens his grip on Draco. The Death Eater raises his wand, prepared to curse or hex Draco, but I throw myself self around the corner, unable to take the sight of him in inevitable danger, facing someone who only means him nothing but harm.
"GET YOUR FILTHY PAWS OFF MY BOYFRIEND!" I yell, taking a swift swing at the Death Eater's head from behind. The heavy stick hits him square in the head with a low thunking noise and he crumbles to the ground in a heap of dark cloth. Draco is shocked at first, leaning back against the wall, gasping a bit when the Death Eater hit the floor. Quickly recovering from the initial shock, he lurches forward and grabs me by my waist, pulling me into a tight embrace. I drop the broom and hear it clatter on the floor.
"Oh, my God, y/n! You're alive, you're alive, you're alive! Thank you for saving me! I owe you my life!" he gasps, burying his face into the crook of my neck. "I got so worried when you disappeared! Oh, my God! I was starting to think... that... you were..."
He gasps in pain, tears flooding down his cheeks. I begin to cry, too and pull him closer, resting my chin on his shoulder.
"Draco... I would never leave you like that... I love you so much, Draco," I say. He sniffles, his nose slightly red and he looks into my eyes. He looks down the broom and then back up at me.
"Where's your wand, y/n?" he asks quietly, looking me in the eyes with his dashing, grey ones.
"It's broken, Draco. I have nothing to defend myself with... What am I going to do?" I ask.
"Stick with me, y/n. I'll make sure that no harm comes to you," he says. "Let's do this, y/n. We can get through this war if we stick together. Right?"
"Right, Draco. We'll always be here for each other," I say, taking Draco's hand in mine.
