I looked at Theo and laughed, unsure how we both just climbed down those rocks, without falling or getting even a single scratch on us. He was telling me how he does it all the time though, so I'm not surprised that he did it. I'm more surprised that I did it, even though I do have super fast reflexes.
"I told you that it would be fine." He laughed, walking towards the water and leaving me behind. "You coming!" He yelled, cupping his hands around his mouth to make it louder.
"Yea, wait up!" I yelled back, running over to him. Once I caught up to him, I kept running and when I turned around, I saw him running behind me.
I was surprised by how fast he was, but I knew I could go faster. I looked in front of me and started sprinting for the water. The sand flicking up whenever I lifted my foot off the ground, the sand getting stuck in between my toes. I laughed, throwing my hands in the air and laughing, feeling free.
I stopped running when I felt the water on my feet, the coldness running up my body. I laughed and watched as Theo ran up next to me, completely out of breath.
"You're a fast runner." He told me, holding his hands above his head. "The waters a bit cold." He told me, flicking the water in the air with his foot.
"I'm still going swimming. What about you?" I laughed, running back up to the shore and taking off my shirt, breathing in the ocean air.
"I don't have spare clothes." He told me, looking at the ground and shaking his head. "I'll watch you though, I'm not really much of a swimmer." He lied to me, walking up to the shore and sitting down.
"Why don't you just get new clothes from home?" I asked him, laughing as though I didn't know that his car was his home. "Don't worry, I have a spare towel in my gym bag. Just get new clothes from home and you'll be fine."
"I just can't. You can go though, I'm fine with it." He smiled and started to draw stuff into the sand.
"Theo, you can tell the truth. It's okay, I won't judge you." I told him, letting him know that it was okay.
"I'm not allowed at home. My Dad and I got into an argument a couple of days ago and I've been staying in my car. He told me that when I got on the lacrosse team, that I was allowed home." He told me, looking at the ground the whole time.
"Come swimming and you can borrow some of my clothes. You can even stay a couple of nights if you need." I told him, standing up and smiling. "You could of told me, I wouldn't of judged."
"I know." He smiled and took off his shirt. "It takes me awhile to trust people." He let me know, not lying this time.
He smiled and ran out to the water, yelling once his knees were passed the water. He looked at me and shook his head, diving under the water and not coming back up.
"Theo!" I yelled, smiling and waiting for his head to pop back up. "Theo, you can come up now!" I yelled, starting to run out into the water. "Theo!" I yelled again, waiting for him to pop up.
I went to dive under, but the I heard someone behind me. I turned around and saw Theo's head pop out of the water. He laughed and rubbed his eyes, looking at me and smiling.
"You idiot. I thought something happened to you." I said, slightly out of breath. "Don't do that again."
"Does Liam Dunbar care about me?" He playfully pushed me and laughed. "How aren't you like freezing right now?" He laughed, looking at my body and then looking at his.
"I'm use to the cold water." I lied, looking at the goosebumps all over his body. "And I care about everyone, so don't feel lucky." I teased and looked out into the ocean.
I dove under the water and started to swim out, getting pushed back every couple of seconds by a wave. I held my breath for as long as I could, and then rose back up to the surface. I look out and saw that I went out pretty far, but I could still touch the ground. I saw Theo and started waving for him to come out here.
He laughed and started to swim over here, taking longer then it took me. He stood up straight and looked down at me, making me feel short. The water was up to my shoulders, whereas the water was just above is elbows.
"It's okay, you're small. It's cute." He laughed, not realising what he just said. I looked at him shocked and I could feel my cheeks burning up. "Come on, let's got out a bit further and the slowly swim back, before it gets to dark."
"Yea, sounds good." I told him, following him. "Quick question, how far are we going out? Because I won't be able to touch the ground for much longer." I informed him, only just being able to touch the ground.
"Well if you start to struggle, I'll help you. But I feel like you're a good swimmer, so you'll be fine." He looked at me and smiled. "You come here often?"
"Every Saturday, some Sunday's and the occasional Wednesday." I told him, having to doggy paddle. "But I haven't been out here lately."
The water was now just up to his shoulders, but I couldn't touch the ground anymore. I don't know why, but I enjoyed the height difference between us. Even though I was more aggressive than Theo, having him that talk made me feel safe. I don't even know how that's possible, considering that we only met about nine hours ago, but it does.
"Are you starting to struggle?" He asked me, laughing as he watched me doggy paddle behind him.
"No, I'm fine." I lied, trying to stay afloat. "How much longer are we going to do this for?" I asked, as my arms started to really ache.
"Come here." He laughed, putting me onto his back. "There, this is why it's good to be taller and stronger." He laughed, swimming out even further.
"You're crazy." I nervously laughed, as I thought about sharks and sting rays and everything bad that could happen out here. "You know, I've never been out this far before and it's kind of scary." I told him.
"That's because you're small. But I'm tall, so don't worry. I'll protect you." He looked at me and smiled. "We'll start to head back now. Don't worry, I can still touch the ground, so you're safe." He told me, squeezing my arm and slowly swimming back.
I didn't know what to do, so I just held onto Theo and listened to him hum. He was humming the same tune as before and it still sounded great. I didn't expect Theo to be a good singer, but if it's anything like his humming, then he's pretty amazing.
"Can you touch the ground now?" Theo asked me, making me slightly sad that I had to let go of him.
I jumped off his back and touched the ground, realising he took me in a lot closer then what I expected him to. The water was up to my elbows, so we didn't have to walk to far, but I didn't want to get out of the water and by the look on Theo's face, neither did he. When the wind hit my bare stomach, it sent shivers all through my body. Suddenly out of nowhere, the weather had changed and now it's freezing.
"If we quickly run back to shore, we can get a towel and climb back to your car, turn on the heater and shower at mine." I told Theo, telling him what we. had to do.
"Alright, sounds good." He shivered, his bottom lip starting to turn blue. "When were climbing back up, we have to be careful. It's slippery and when you fall, trust me, you'll know about it." He told me, showing me his arms and back where a couple of bruises were.
"Damn." I said, squinting my eyes and looking at the marks on his back. "They look like they hurt." I told him, getting a smile and nod in response.
We both looked at each other and nodded, getting ready to run for my gym bag. We both started to run and then we were out of the water, the sand got stuck to our wet feet, and the feeling was uncomfortable.
"Here!" I yelled, throwing a towel to Theo and drying myself. "What do we do with our pants?" I asked him, not knowing if I keep them on or take them off.
"You can do whatever, but I'm taking mine off." He told me, quickly drying his feet and slipping on his socks.
Even though his feet still had sand on them, he put on his socks. I can't stand that feeling, so I quickly just slipped on my shoes, took off my pants and ran for the rocks. Theo was in front of me, by a metre or so, so I ran faster to catch up to him. I let him go first up the rocks, so I could follow his footsteps. We made it up there fine, without falling or tripping over.
"Keys!" He yelled, looking at me. "I put them in your bag, I think." He told me, looking at me like he was hoping they were in there.
I unzipped my bag and searched for them, finding them at the very bottom of my bag. I got them out and threw them at Theo, waiting got him to unlock the car. Once it was unlocked, we both jumped in and waited got the heater to start working.
"Here we go." Theo said excitedly, putting his hands next to the vent and letting the warm air heat them up. "That feels so nice." He told me, looking in the rear-view mirror and pulling back onto the road.
"Next stop, my place."
