April 15th. School.
Lucas approached Maya. Maya was a little sad that morning.
Lucas: Hello my beautiful stack of pancakes. *Flirty.
Maya: Hey.
Lucas: Look, I'm still so sorry about everything --
Maya: It's okay Huckleberry. * She said with a quick smile.
Lucas helped Maya with her books, and both went to class. In class, Lucas kept staring at her, she was looking at Mr. Matthews but didn't answer any of his questions with sarcasm like she always does, she was looking at the empty desk right next to her. Lucas sighed, and Maya pretended to be asleep, while some tears appeared in her eyes. She missed Riley.
After class.
Lucas followed her.
Lucas: Are you okay?
Maya: Yes. *She lied.
Lucas: Maya, she's where she needs to be right now.
Maya: I said I was just great! *Moody.
Lucas: She's your best friend, it's okay if you feel bad.
Maya: Lucas, I don't want to talk about it now. *Holding her tears.
Lucas sighed.
Lucas: So... um... I wanted to ask you...
She looked at him with curiosity.
Lucas: If you want to have dinner tonight... at my house?
Maya thought about it for a minute.
Lucas: I want my parents to REALLY know you.
Maya got nervous.
Maya: I... I really want to, but --
Lucas: I know, it freaks me out too, but I think that's what we have to do.
Maya: Okay.
Lucas: I pick you up at eight.
Maya: Great. * She smiled nervously.
Afterschool. Maya's Apartment.
Maya: Mom, I have nothing to wear!!
Maya said while walking to her Mom in a different outfit for the ninth time.
Katy: You look beautiful in all of them.
Maya: But they're not enough to make a good impression, I gotta find something!! *Desperate.
Maya looked for another outfit, but Katy stopped her.
Katy: Babygirl, you're overreacting, they're people like you and me, and the only way you can make a good impression is by being yourself.
Maya: What if they don't like me?
Katy: They will, and if they don't that not your problem, you have a lot more important things to worry about.
Maya: Yes, but I still want them to know I'm more than a huge mess.
Katy: You're not, it'll be okay, just relax.
Katy was combing Maya's hair.
Katy: You look perfect.
Maya smiled, and the bell rang.
Katy: That most be Lucas.
Maya: Thank you, Mom. * Maya hugged her.
Shawn was watching TV when he saw Maya strolling to the door.
Shawn: Hey kiddo!
Maya looked back at him.
Shawn: You got this.
Maya smiled.
Maya: Thank you, Dad.
She opened the door.
Lucas: Hi.
Maya: Hey.
They were walking outside the building.
Lucas: You look beautiful.
Maya: Thank you! um... you look like a Huckleberry.
Lucas: To be honest, I didn't expect anything else.
Maya: You know me so well.
Lucas smirked at her, and she giggled.
Maya: Stop it.
Lucas laughed.
Lucas: Let's go.
Lucas' House.
Lucas: My parents will be here any minute, take a sit.
Maya laughs quietly.
Maya: Why are you talking so proper?
Lucas: I want this to go perfectly.
That comment freaked Maya out.
Maya: Why? *Nervous.
Lucas: I just want them to accept that we're in this together.
Maya: I thought that was implied when you moved back.
Lucas: Kinda, but they still don't think I'm ready for this.
Now Maya was nervous too. The rang bell.
Maya: I go.
Lucas: NO! I take it.
Margaret: Sorry, your Dad forgot his keys at work. *She said to Lucas.
Margaret entered followed by John.
Margaret: Oh, she's already here.
Maya: Hey.
John looked at her from head to toe.
John: Hello.
The moment became awkward.
Margaret: Lucas! Is dinner ready?
Lucas: Almost.
Maya: Is Lucas cooking?
Margaret: Yes, he really put effort into this dinner.
Maya: That's great. He's always very caring.
Margaret: That's so sweet.
John remained quiet.
Lucas: F*CK! *from the kitchen.
Margaret: Is everything okay back there?
Lucas: Yeah... *He lied.
In fact, Lucas had never really cooked a dinner before, and as expected he burned the food.
After some minutes of awkward conversation at the table, Lucas went to the table with some salad and a burned chicken.
Margaret looked at the chicken and then directly to John.
Margaret: Oh... Lucas, yummy! *She acted like it was okay.
Lucas: Mom, I know I messed up.
Maya looked at John.
John: It's okay Lucas, we can eat it.
Maya: Yeah.
Lucas: No! You can't! I MESSED EVERYTHING UP! I CAN'T DO ANYTHING RIGHT, I JUST, I TRY GUYS, I REALLY DO, BUT IT SEEMS LIKE I DO EVERYTHING WRONG!. *Very upset.
Margaret: But you made the salad.
Lucas: No, I did not, I just put lettuce on the plate. I just messed everything up!
Maya: We can still eat it.
Lucas: IM NOT TALKING ABOUT THE FOOD!
No one knew what to say.
Lucas: I wanted to do this, make it up to you guys, I let you down! and Maya I let you down too.
Lucas walked to the living room. Maya followed him.
Maya: Lucas!
Lucas: What!
Maya: It's okay really.
Lucas: I told you --
Maya: -- I'm not talking about the food.
Lucas looked at her eyes.
Maya: We didn't decide to be in this situation, I think we both know that, but I want you to know that there's no one else I rather be in this with, than you. You didn't mess up anything, we did. And we're together in this together, no matter if you need to make a dinner, I'll be there, and I don't how to cook or be a Parent or take care of a baby, but we will learn... Together.
Lucas: I love you so much.
Maya: I know!
Lucas: Maya!
Maya: You didn't see that coming, don't you?
Lucas hugged her.
John entered the living room.
John: I don't ask anything else for my son than to be loved just like you love him.
Both Maya and Lucas were astonished.
John: Lucas, I don't need you to prove me you're ready to be a Dad, the only person you gotta prove that too is this lady here.
Margaret: And I think you have proved that to her many times.
John: Maya, I think we didn't have a good start, I'm sorry for being so prejudiced, but I care about my son, and I got to protect him. I was wrong about protecting him from you, you seem to care for him almost as much I do.
Maya: I love him.
Margaret: I told you she was special.
John: Welcome to the family!
Maya: Thank you.
Later.
Maya and Lucas were sitting in the living room, while John and Margaret were a the dining room. Everyone was eating pizza that Margaret ordered after all the drama.
Maya: You have ketchup.
Lucas: Where?
Maya: Right here. *She wipes the ketchup off his lip.
Lucas looked at her eyes, he was spellbound.
Lucas: I really want to marry you.
Maya widened her eyes, she was speechless.

That's all for today's chapter, thank you for reading. I'm taking my time to write every chapter, I want them all to be consistent, I don't want to go like the usual fanfiction that begins very strong and ends kind of boring, so that's why it might take longer sometimes for me to upload. But anyway, I hope you liked it. Comment, like and Add this to your Reading Lists. See you soon.
