"What do you wanna do when we get there?" Virgil asked Roman, smiling.
Logan held himself back from correcting Virgil, he didn't want to ruin the moment.
"I don't mind" Roman replied, smiling back at him.
"Why not a house tour?" Patton offered, "yeah! Unless you don't wanna, that's also fine" Virgil replied, he was nervous, he didn't want Roman to leave so he wanted to make sure Roman got treated the best he can be.
"I don't mind" Roman replied again, still smiling.
"What about a bath?" Logan suggested, it would be a lie to say Roman didn't smell bad.
"I go for bafths in the river! I would want to waste your water!" He paused, "I mean I wouldn't! I'm sowwy, I get my words mixed up...wait, sorry! I said it wrong...I'm sorry! I'm being annoying...I'm really sorry!" Roman blurted out, becoming more worried. He doesn't want to annoy them!
"Hey, Roman" Patton turned around in his seat and gave him a reassuring smile. "You're not being annoying, you're adorable. And you will never have to bath in the river, you live with us now and you wouldn't be wasting the water"
Roman nodded and smiled at him, bringing his blanket closer to his body. Earlier they went to where Roman "lived" - under a bridge, they got his belongings which consisted of his dirty worn blanket, a picture of who he thinks are his parents, and his toothbrush.
The other homeless people told him to take care of his teeth or the tooth fairy would kill him.
They parked outside of their house and Roman gasped, turning to Patton. "I can't live here!"
"Why not?" Logan asked, taking the keys out of the car.
"Do you not want to live with us?" Virgil frowned, his heart hurting.
"I do but...! I..I been told that I belong in the sewers...not big houses like yours!" Tears welled up in his eyes at the thought of being kicked out onto the streets. He couldn't live their again! It's hell!
Patton jumped to action and got out of the car, going to his side and opening his door.
"Roman, don't cry! Come here!" Patton held his arms open and Roman climbed into them, picking him up easily Patton cradled the upset boy. Logan and Virgil got out and gave him worried looks.
"I-I'm sorry" he sniffled and Patton rubbed his back, "don't apologise, okay?" He whispered.
They all went inside, Patton took Roman to have a bath while Logan and Virgil went to the living room.
"Why is he so nervous?" Virgil asked his Daddy. "He has been homeless for years, this is all new to him, he's scared so don't force him to do things, okay?" Virgil nodded and the two watched tv to pass the time.
"Here's the bath!" Patton smiled, running the water. "Do you need me to stay or can you do this by yourself?"
Roman bit his lip, he didn't know what to do but he didn't want to waste Mr. Sanders time. Roman smiled and said he can do it by himself.
"Okay, call me if you need me" Patton kissed his head and he left, closing the door behind him.
Roman looked at the water, dipping his hand in he expected cold water but when it wasn't cold he was surprised, but it was nice. He didn't know to turn off the water so he stripped down and got in, rubbing the water on himself.
When the water became dangerously close to the edge his eyes widened, oh no, oh no, oh no!
"Mr. Sanders!" He called getting out, he worriedly looked at the bath that was ready to overflow.
"Mr. Sanders!" He called louder this time, he heard him running up the stairs and he dashed in, checking Roman over.
"Are you okay?"
"The bath!" Patton gasped and turned off the taps, letting some water out down the drain.
"I'm so sorry Mr-"
"Roman, it was my fault, and please, call me Patton" Roman nodded and thanked him quietly.
Patton was about to leave when Roman stopped him. "Could you stay wifth me? I don't wanna it to go wrong again" he spoke quietly, getting some words mixed up.
"Of course!" Patton kneeled beside the bath and Roman got in, he cleaned himself and Patton reached for the shampoo. "Do you want me to help with your hair?"
"What that?" He asked
"It's shampoo! It cleans your hair and makes it smell like apples!"
"Sha...shampoo?" He repeated, giggling. "You said poo!"
Patton laughed along with him and put it in his wet hair, lathering it through. Roman enjoyed the feeling so much he closed his eyes and pushed his head into his hands. Patton smiled softly and did it for awhile, washed it out and did it a few more times.
"There you go, kiddo! All finished" Roman thanked him and Patton grabbed a towel, Roman got out and didn't expect the towel to be wrapped around him.
Patton dried him and gave him a pair of Virgils pyjamas. They headed downstairs and Virgil jumped up.
"Roman!" He grinned and handed him a few Disney movies.
"Do you like Disney?"
"Disney? What that?" Virgil gasped, "it's the best movies ever!"
Logan bit his lip, trying his hardest not to correct the two children. Patton sat next to him and kissed his cheek, "You okay, Logy bear?"
"I am fine, love" Logan smiled.
Virgil set up the Disney movie Snow White and sat next to Roman on the couch, Roman instantly enjoyed the movie and when the characters sung he hummed along, grinning.
Patton watched him with a smile while Logan watched the movie with a slight frown, especially when they sang. He had seen every Disney movie because of Patton and Virgil more times then he'd like to admit, but it did warm his heart to see Roman having so much fun, and Virgil of course.
"Disney movie are awesome!" Roman clapped his hands when the movie ended, Virgil smiled and agreed with him.
"Disney movies" Logan blurted, correcting him. Roman frowned, "I sorry...I can't speak correctly"
"Oh no, kiddo! It's okay" Patton scooted over and hugged him. "Have you ever gone to school?" Logan inquired.
"Scwhool?" Roman bit his lip, what was school? What was school? What was school!?! He panicked, "um...I er...Yes I um, I go there everyday!" He rushed out, not meeting anyone's eyes.
"You do?" Virgil asked, Roman nodded. "Roman, it's not good to lie" Logan said, raising his eyebrow.
Roman whimpered and hid his face in Pattons chest, Patton hugged him tightly, Virgil frowned. "Roman, do you know what school is?" Virgil asked, reaching over and taking his hand. He had seen Patton do it to Logan and it helped him calm down before.
"Uh..." he lifted his head, "um...a p-park?" He stuttered, Logan's eyes went wide and he glanced at Patton who narrowed his eyes at his husband, as if he was daring Logan to correct him.
"No..." Virgil replied, looking at his Dad for help. "Kiddo...school is a place kids go to everyday to learn, it's how they get jobs in the future"
Roman frowned, "I'm idiot...I sow-Sorry!"
"Do not apologies for your level of stupidity- ow" Logan shot Patton a glare when Patton elbowed him.
"You can come to school with me!" Virgil pipped up, smiling. "I don't have many friends" he added.
"Virgil, he would not be able to go to your school"
"Why?"
"He's...he is not smart enough, he will have to go to at least second grade"
"But...he's ten!"
"Age doesn't determine smartness, Verge"
Roman frowned and got down from Pattons lap, he gave the three all a small smile and headed upstairs.
"You upset him, Logan!"
"I was just stating facts!" Logan defended, as the two kept on firing replies Virgil slipped away and followed where Roman went, upstairs to Virgils room.
He saw Roman grabbing his old backpack, putting his old clothes and other few belongings in it. Virgil frowned and walked to him. Roman jumped when he saw him, hiding the bag behind his back with a scared expression.
"Roman? What are you doing?"
Roman sighed and dropped his bag, pulling Virgil into a hug. Virgil stood still for a few seconds, slowly wrapping his arms around his waist.
"Virgil...I only mess thing up.." he sighed, "things...I-I I don't wanna get them too hate me"
"Roman, you have to put more trust in us. We won't hate you, ever, neither will we get rid of you"
"Pwomis?"
"Promise" Virgil smiled.
Roman was silent for a few seconds, "can we see Dwisney movie?"
"Sure! Beauty and the beast?"
"Yeah!"
The two laid down on Virgils bed, Virgil set up the movie and Roman cuddled up to his side, he has never slept in a bed before and he loved it.
"Virgil?...thank you"
"Shh, s'fine. You did save me"
"I'm glad I found you when I did"
