18. Blizzard

Koda barked rapidly and he continued to bark until I rolled out of the comfort of my bed.

"What is it boy?" I asked, walking past the mirror and only getting a tiny glimpse of myself.

From what I saw, my hair was tangled in some sort of bird nest pattern. Dark bags under my eyes from the lack of sleep because Rebecca had very important news about a guy she met and forget that there's an eight hour time difference between us. Also the fact that now it's my winter break, my sleep schedule has flown out the window.

"Thanks god no one is here to see me, oh my god what they hell are you doing in my house Blake!"

He stood there rocking back and forth on his toes. Koda sat at his legs and let his slobbery tongue hang out for the world to see.

"Well you look like death." He commented.

"Thanks," I mumbled walking past him into the kitchen.

"So I was thinking," he took a set on the nearest barstool. "Since next week you'll be heading up to see your mother, I thought we should spend your last day visiting the lights downtown. We can get hot chocolate and watch me fail miserably at ice skating whole you blow everyone away."

"You do realize a blizzard suppose to come in today?" I ask, "and it's morning."

"Well I calculated with the much need math that we obviously need for the future, that with the traffic it will take three hours to get downtown."

"So we'd get there at noon," I chuckle.

"That's why I was thinking, I take you shopping."

"Oh really?" I smirk, pouring both Blake and I a glass of milk.

"Well I haven't got you a Christmas gift and well, I thought it be best if you came with." He smiled.

"Right." I smile, leaning onto the counter. "Well I have nothing better to do, so sure. But I need to change."

"Well I thought you were gonna go with the 'I'm dead' look." He jokes.

I slap him on the bicep and wall back into my room. Changing into something warm just in case, I get stuck in a snowstorm.

I decided to go with simple black leggings and a navy blue sweater. Paired with my favorite navy blue beanie to cover the messiness my hair is in. Even the duel braids couldn't make them look better.

When I walked back into the main room, Blake was playing with Koda. I smiled and grabbed my phone.

"Let's get this show on the road!"

He looked up and smiled at me and we were off.

"Would you rather," Blake looks over at me while we wait for the traffic to start moving forward. "Die by fire of freeze to death?"

"I'd burn." I answer instantly. "I mean, I feel like burning would go by quicker because you'd suffocate on too much smoke."

"I rather freeze." He smiles. "Like your body will go numb."

"But it could be very painful." I add.

"Well I don't wanna become a human toast, so I rather become a popsicle."

"Touche." I smile. "Okay my turn. Would you rather repeat senior year over and over again but never age, or be done with it and age quick."

"What kind of question is that?" He chuckles.

"I'm not good at these." I grin uncontrollably. "Just answer."

"I repeat senior year and never age." He smiles, "I mean I'm at my prime right now."

"Right." I grin.

"What about you? What'd you pick?"

"I rather age quickly than repeat senior year."

"Why?"

"I want to accomplish my dreams." I smile at my comment. "I mean, there's so many things I wanna do, but can't because I'm eighteen."

"Right okay. Would you rather have unlimited love or money?"

"Love." I smile.

"Love?" He grins back at me.

"Love is just a wonderful thing. Money is an item that controls people." I explain.

He smiles before driving forward a little bit as the traffic progressed a tiny bit more.

"I'd also choose love."

"Really?" There was a sense of shock in my voice.

"A man, like myself, hopes to find love like the movies." He explains.

"You have Tara. I know I'm not a fan of her, but you guess seriously love each other."

"Can I tell you something?" His voice went serious and he wouldn't even make eye contact which from what I learned, he's asking something deep and needs me to listen. "Sometimes I think Tara only is dating me for the title."

"What do you mean?" I ask.

"The classic cheerleader and football captain daring thing." He says.

"I think Tara truly does love you." Not because she told me not to go for Theo to make Blake jealous or anything.

I saw the corner of his lips twitch slightly before he smiled an adorable shy smile.

Tiny snowflakes fell from the sky as we made our way towards the outdoor mall.

"You know. I have a fun idea." I smile.

"What is it?"

"Instead of buying nice gifts for each other, let's buy the strangest thing we can find." I continue to smile like a child.

"Okay." He smiles down at me. "I hope you know you're gonna lose."

"When did this turn into a competition?" I ask with a slight chuckle.

"I'm a very competitive person. Everything is a competition."

"Right, but it has to mean something to the other person." I say, making it even harder.

"You got yourself a deal." He grabs my hand and shakes it hard as if this was a serious competition. Then again it was, and I'm gonna win.

We decided to meet back here in two hours. In that two hours we must go find a very meaningful. but extremely strange, gift for each other. The person with the strangest thing wins and the other has to pay for hot chocolate. Fair enough.

I wandered into the closet store that had a mannequin with one of those cheap sparkly dresses with a snakeskin bag hanging next to it. I guess that would be weird enough.

I scanned the aisles for about an hour until I came across something that would win this competition. Hundred percent, I'd win this thing.

I walked out and waited patiently waited for Blake to show up from where ever he is. Finally I spotted him in the distance walking towards me with a bright orange bag with some shops name in a font I couldn't read.

"You will be so surprised that I found something like this." He smiles like a little kid.

"I guess I'll go first." I smile, reaching into the bag and pulling out the delicate item inside.

"What the hell is that!" His eyes widened when he saw it.

"It's a squirrel holding a sparkly football of course." Just saying that made me feel like a complete retard than what I felt holding it. The stained glass brown fur was rough against my fingertips. Making it almost impossible to hold with comfort.

"Well, I think mine might top this." He pulled out a light blue mug. Except it wasn't a mug. On the outside were different sized paintbrushes glued onto the glass. Inside were a light blue paint, hardened before anyone could use it.

"Oh my god. It's beautiful." I traded my squirrel statue for his mug.

"I think you won this one." He jokes, examining the squirrel.

"I am the strangest gift champion!" I cheer.

"Well strangest gift champion, I guess I owe you a hot chocolate." He smiles at me, gently placing the squirrel into the bag.

"Yes you do." I grin, also putting the mug into the bag.

Night fell onto us and the snow began to pick up. Once we finished our outdoor skating experience, I decided it was best if we got back to the Car before the blizzard hit us full force. Except Blake being Blake, wanted to see the lights for the last event of the night. That's what we did. Probably was a bad idea because by the time we got to the car, we were stuck in the snow.

"This is your fault by the way," I grit through my shivering teeth.

He dug out my doorway and I slipped inside. Shivering as I waited for Blake it get in and turn in the heat.

"At least your dad isn't in town." He jokes. "I'd be a dead man."

"If you don't turn on the heat now, I'll be a dead woman." I glare.

He smiled, switching on his car. There was no way we could back out in this. Instead we'd have to wait it out if we don't freeze to death first.

"Oh my god you're so cold." Blake pulls me into him and tries to warm me up.

"Well unlike you, I don't have....any muscle....mass to warm me up." I say in a series of stutters.

Blake was like a public heater and I was very thankful for it. Except right now I couldn't feel my toes and I kept rubbing my frozen nose.

"Here." He grabs a fuzzy blanket from the back of his dad's car and wraps it around us.

I snuggled against the fuzzy blanket and Blake until my eyes started to drift shut.

I woke up to see Blake staring down at me. I rubbed my eyes and realized I was laying in his lap.

I fell asleep in his lap.

The sun was shining through the window, blinding me while I lifted myself up.

"Morning." Blake whispered. Moving the car in drive and begin our journey home.

"Did we just spend the night in a blizzard?" I asked, examined the fresh snow outside the window.

"Yup." He smiles.

I chuckled slightly. "Guess I can cross that one off my bucket list."

He laughed, "and you aren't dead so that's a plus."

"Whatever," I roll my eyes. "Just get me home."

"Yes ma'am." He smiles.
