Chapter 25

The video shoot was nearly over and the entire time I was sat in the corner going through nonsense on my phone. Harry had disappeared, again. I figured he just went to get his make up removed, but as I look around for him again, I notice it’s been nearly a half hour since I’ve seen him on the set. I can hear a girl cackling around the studio somewhere, and it’s starting to really annoy me. I’ve thought about going to find her and cut her vocal chords out, but there are too many witnesses here to do that.

Zayn’s words keep making their way to the front of my mind.

I’ve never seen him like how he was with you.”

That made me feel a lot better about this whole situation. Especially after everything Alana had said. Did Harry want to make this more serious? Because I was dying to make him mine. Officially. I knew I would bring it up next time we were alone. If he wasn’t going to make the move, I was going to.

I notice Alana walking towards me. I role my eyes at her, but I can’t help but notice the large smile plastered on her face. She clearly looks pleased, but about what?

She unfortunately sits beside me, “What are you smiling about?” I inquire.

“Nothing, you just might want to watch out.” She doesn’t look at me once, avoiding my stare completely.

“What are you talking about?” She points to the door that the boys got their make-up done.

“You’re happy because of a door?” I ask numbly, obviously she’s dumber than I thought. She gives me an urging glance as if telling me to go look inside.

I stand up slowly heading towards the door, the cackling laugh intensifying with every step I take making me cringe at the sound. I look back towards Alana, but can’t find her anywhere in sight. I push open the door and my jaw drops as my eyes land on them. Harry stands with shoulder turned away from me. A tall dark haired girl has both hands placed on his chest as she leans into whisper something in his ear. He seems to be uncomfortable with the personal space she is invading, but doesn’t make any drastic movement to change it. She wears a skin tight white long sleeved dress that outlines her barely there waist. Her big chocolate eyes look up at Harry behind batted lashes as he chuckles at something she said. She’s absolutely stunning, I want to turn and run back out the same way I came in, but I can’t seem to pull my eyes away.

Her eyes glance over in my direction, “do you need something?” Her voice rings out before her eye contact focuses back up on Harry. I quickly panic cowering behind the nearest clothing rack.

“Who was that?” Harry inquires looking around.

“Just some girl,” the girl assures as she moves her hands to the sides of his arms, but this time he backs away.

“What did she look like?” Harry asks, concern lacing his voice. Of course only after he got caught, I shake my head.

“Does it matter babe? I think she left,” She asks making another move towards him, but he backs away towards the door. I wince at what she called him. “She didn’t look pretty enough to be here anyways,” the girl shrugs aimlessly; she yanks at Harry’s arm bringing him back into the centre of the room. I suppose she was right, I was nothing compared to her. Tears threatened to spill out of my eyes as I sprint out of the room. “That’s her,” I assume she points at me, and I pray I’m quick enough to escape the room before Harry notices it’s me.

Thankfully no one follows me out of the room. I notice Louis as soon I get out of the room. I crash into him, burying my face into his chest. He wraps his arms around me, cooing me to tell him what happened.

“Harry… and some girl…” Tears were beginning to form and I knew it wouldn’t be long. I needed to get out of there.

“Shit, Em. Do you know who it was?” He rubs the small of my back.

“Some tall gorgeous dark haired girl, she was American,” I choke out bitterly.

“Oh… That must be Kendall.” He says, disappointment in his voice.

“Louis I need to go, I’ll call you later.” He gives me a kiss on my temple before I grab my coat and bag and run off. Alana is waiting for me at the exit an evilly satisfied grin on her face.

“You don’t and you’ll never belong here,” she sneers as I brush past her. But, I didn’t need her to say it because I had finally understood that in Harry’s life I was just a piece that wouldn’t fit in the puzzle.

..

*Harry’s POV*

Kendall kept going on and on, I just wanted her to shut up for one minute so I could get a word in. This girl really knew how to talk.

My mind kept going to Emma and what she was doing. Her blue eyes flooded through my brain, giving me butterflies in my stomach. What was this girl doing to me?

I hoped she would’ve been with one of the guys by now, but I kept thinking about how I just abandoned her. I’m finally saved by Louis pulling me away from Kendall.

“What the hell are you doing, man?!” Louis screams at me. What is his deal?

“What are you talking about, mate?” I say in a calmer tone. Louis looks like he’s about to punch me right in the face.

“Emma just saw you.”

“What… no… she didn’t.” I state. She couldn’t have. Wait… the girl Kendall was talking about. Was that her? Shit. My stomach drops, this can’t be happening.

“Yeah, that’s what I thought Harry. Good job screwing up the one girl that was doing some good in your life.”

“Louis calm the hell down,” Kendall chirps up, Louis turns to her to give her an annoyed look, but I don’t waste any time as I am already running.

Running to get Emma.

..

I can’t believe I did this to her again. She must be thinking all sorts of bad things now. Kendall was all over me in there, but I wasn’t interested in her, the only girl I’ve ever wanted was Emma.

I was nearly at Emma’s apartment, if she didn’t answer, I didn’t know what I was going to do.

..

*Emma’s POV*

“Just forget about him, Em. He’s clearly an arsehole.” Claire repeats to me in a hushed tone as I sit on the couch staring at the floor. Gratefully, she didn’t ask what had happened, when I walked through the door with tear stained makeup. She had just gone and gotten out ice cream and two large spoons, but I hadn’t even looked at the bowl. I was clearly upset that I had seen Harry with Kendall, but the realization that we could never and would never work seemed to cause the most pain. I knew early on that being with him meant dealing with his career and fame. I knew inevitably in the end, like Alana had said Harry would never end up with someone like me, but I pushed it aside. The pain I’m feeling might be excruciating, but it was self inflicted. I knew the risks of getting involved with him and I ignored them because I had thought that to him I was special, to him I was different. But I was wrong.

The thunderous pounding on the door briefly pulls me out of my numb state, “that’s probably the pizza. I’ll get it,” I offer rising to stand.

“No it’s fine I got it,” Claire assures me hopping up. “Wouldn’t wanna scare him away,” Claire jokes making me laugh hollowly. “Shit,” I hear Claire curse.

“What?” I question craning my neck to see into the foyer. Claire stands holding the door propped open as Harry stands in the frame.

“Emma!” He pretty much exclaims when his bloodshot eyes land on me. Claire looks at me for guidance on what to do and I slightly shake my head no. Just as Harry goes to step inside Claire steps right in front of him.

“You can’t come in here,” Claire declares.

“What?” Harry questions his eyes moving from me to Claire who sturdily stands blocking his path. She crosses her arms over her chest not seeming to budge and he looks over to me helplessly.

“Really, Emma? You’re going to be like this? C’mon you can’t be serious,” he tries again to step into the apartment, but Claire moves to close the door on him, but he catches it with his hand.

“Fine, we’re going to do this like this then?” He asks.

“You need to leave,” Claire cuts in.

“Emma, don’t shut me out like this. You know it’s you I like.” He pleas.

“That’s a little hard to believe when there’s another girl all over you.” I shout venomously.

“Kendall literally means nothing to me, Em, you gotta believe me. She just showed up at the shoot! I didn’t even know she was going to be there!” He cries out. I immediately think of Alana and when she told me to ‘watch out’.  That must’ve been who she was on the phone with. Of course she would called Kendall to come there. This was all just a game to them. I knew that if I denied Harry, it would mean that Alana would win.

“You honestly didn’t invite her?” I ask.

“No,” he assures me. He weaves around Claire who glares at him as he rushes inside the living room to kneel in front of me.

“Emma, you’re the one I want to be with. It’s always been like that. Please don’t let this affect us, Kendall is nothing to me. I wouldn’t care if I never saw her again.” He says earnestly grabbing onto my hand causing my heart to flutter.

“That can be arranged.” I say loudly. He laughs at my comment, but I continue talking. “I’m still pissed at you Harry.”

“I know. I wouldn’t want it any other way.” It’s my turn to laugh. Our little relationship was quite an interesting one.

“Will you two please just make it official already this back and forth shit is giving me whiplash,” Claire sarcastically comments while walking into the other room making us both laugh. We both grow silent as we stare at each other daring the other to speak first.

“I would really like that...” Harry whispers.

“Like what?” I press knowing what he’s about to say.

“You know, making us official.”

“What are you trying to say?” I ask knowing the answering but dying to hear him say the words out loud.

“I’m trying to say I would be the happiest guy on the planet if I could call you mine,” he starts. “Emma will you be my girlfriend?” He finally asks. I try keeping a straight face, but I can’t help but smile as I’m internally flipping out.

“Hm, I’d have to think about that,” I say stroking my chin in mock thought, “maybe ask me again when I’m not so pissed off at you.” Before I even have time to move he rapidly leans forward cradling the back of my head and pulling my face to his, so our lips connect. I try shoving him off of me but his body weight is fully resting on top of me and it’s a struggle to even breathe.

“If you don’t say yes I’ll kiss you to death,” he threatens holding me so tightly my face is squished against his shoulder.

“That doesn’t seem like such a bad way to go,” I muse. He stares down at me intently before planting an array of kisses all over my face. I try to squirm out of his grasp but he just holds me tighter.

“Okay! Okay! I’ll go out with you!” I exclaim. He pulls away smiling down at me before planting a gentle kiss on my forehead.

“Thank you,” he says.

“Now get off of me.”
