We're running. After what just happened, I feel like I can't possibly run any faster. Dab just punched my own father. I thought to myself. The most crazy part of it, is that I'm glad he did it. My father, it disgusts me to say that. He never cared. He never tried. I meant every word that I said. And I hope he knows that. All of a sudden, I realize I have no idea what we're running to.
"Dab! Where... are.. we going? We can't just ....run forever." I say in distant breaths
"You'll see. Just keep going. Only a little longer I promise." He says patting my shoulder. We run for maybe ten more minutes when he shoves me in a building I had never seen before.
"Where are we?" I ask him
"It's my dads lab. I couldn't think of anywhere else to go." He says ashamed
"No it's fine it's just..wow." I say in awe
"It's pretty cool huh. I've always loved coming here. Even when I was little. When I wasn't supposed to." He says with a small chuckle.
"It's amazing. Hey, what does he even do here?" I ask
"Builds things, invents things, kind of a lot. He built the Sim-Ray. It was so cool. One time he froze one of his coworkers. I'm not allowed to use it though, not after the.." Dab sits down
"Dab, what's wrong? Are you okay?" I ask concerned. He buries his face in his hands.
"Oh my god. This is all my fault. None of this would have happened if I would've stayed out of your life. I ruined the school project, I ruined your family, and I...I..I ruined you. You don't deserve this. You've been so good to me and I ruined everything. Like I always do." He says while tears stream out of his beautiful eyes.
"Dab! What are you talking about? You didn't ruin my life. You made it so much bet-"
"Evan. Can't you see? I'm a wreck. I destroy everything around me. Including you." He interrupted
"I'm fine! You made me okay Dab!" I say putting my hand on his shoulder. He brushes it off. It was such a small gesture, but it felt as if someone had took a nail, and scratched my heart.
"I have to go." He says running out of the laboratory.
"Dab! Wait, please!" I beg. It's too late. He's gone. I sit on the floor and I cry. I cry until it hurts. I cry until there are no more tears in my eyes. I stand up and walk home. Ready for whatever the wrath of my father has to bring.
